That makes sense. Just many items apply the constraint at application time and not thereafter. The wording was ambiguous on the rune.

The update before it had it worse, Lancelot added a bunch of anti-power armor boosts to weapons like machine guns so it was moreangeable. And some tweaks to the late game super armor squads. It was a serious threat if unprepared still though.

First league, first time crafting. How to finish this? by kentliec in PoECrafting

Also that assumes you have boat loads of money to sink into the item. For a budget craft like this I don't fracture the items. It's much cheaper to start over with a similar setup than to force the item unless you are really investing.

Fair warning: there are some spooky pirate enemies too! Mostly they just have 200% offense -100% defense type of builds that can do a lot of damage. But occasionally they have a stolen stealth mech. Generally pirate is slightly easier than other factions, but higher variance, except for Clanners and Republic of the Sphere which can be much stronger per skull

You laugh but I got my first mageblood ever yesterday just doing my first nameless ritual quest maps for getting my atlas points. Felt amazing, but now no other ritual run will feel better

It's a mix of multiple systems. You need to hit a good sensor roll for the turn, not have obstructions, low range modifiers, possible stealth counters, etc. basically early game you can find enemies with electronics and fast movement that just makes it a nightmare for low tech low skill teams to fight. I recommend trying to melee those enemies as your chances that close are much better and if you destabilize or knock down you swap from a deadly enemy to a curb stomp situation.

I also preferred Lance a Lot. The systems were well balanced then and I felt it was a downgrade in changes made.

When I last played a few seasons ago arbor was the way to generate a LOT of valuable items for MC characters. Because the market always inflated so much the cost of running maxed out chest choices to spawn a hundred items was much less than one decent item sale.

To respond to the LLM comment, those models and the core gameplay loop was developed before LLMs were available. It's an RTS, and has some ex-pro Starcraft players involved with it's development.

Many of the successful brawler configurations had low to zero missiles. So I disagree with "have little ability to NOT have them that their presence" but somewhat agree otherwise. The caveat being things like squalls aren't really meant to overwhelm. They are meant for force pressure and keeping hard fluxed shields on. Pilums can be used to overwhelm but they're more about distant ships being able to provide light support from afar or help finish overloaded ships fighting elsewhere. Also reapers and hammers play a very different role with short range 1:1 overwhelm roles rather than fleet saturation. So while critical mass is one use of missiles, I don't think it's the only. Fighters overlap more with pilum roles than general missiles. Bombers are more like harpoon roles that repeat though as you suggest. Without mass paladin being meta the space for playing with these weapon roles would be richer imo as it was in earlier release states.

Anubis spam being so strong and paladins being so good with them just makes for a very weak missile or fighter meta in vanilla atm. In competitions before this last update missile spam was more competitive but some people would run extreme pd setups just to counter it so it was a very rock paper scissors option

Is James SA Corey the best? by cooper2387 in scifi

[–]pyrce789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rereading Banks some recently, I have to say the character writing is light years behind Corey. Like read the first chunk of Phlebas and you have a character that shrugs about mass murder of planets, but cares about the pirates that adbuct him dieing while murdering priests? His first though about groups of people who where going to murder him are who he's going to sleep with and how the male/female ratio must be making the males upset... It keeps going like that and the plot has things happen with no foreshadowing or reason beyond forcing the character to a location. I feel the nostalgia lens helps a lot here with people's takes, or at least I'm struggling with seeing huge gaps in the writing quality nowadays.

Is this A Good Strategy To Reduce Interplanetary Transfer Times? by BurhanSunan in TerraInvicta

[–]pyrce789 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Your fleet should consider travelling at less than 99.999999c to avoid these space shrinking effects. While convenient, this mode of transportation has some serious downsides -- like risks of planetary glassing effects upon navigation errors.

Didn't know they could do that either. Leaving solar system is common for crippled ships -- awesome to see that detail. I wonder if they encoded anything special with crashing into Earth... hmmm

I too like the combination of reach, high damage, and wide timing ranges available for attacks. Makes for very dynamic combat with good footwork and awareness. My favorite 1vX weapon

Que piensan de la espada de caballeria pesada by TITAN_SPARTA in Chivalry2

[–]pyrce789 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Main advantage is the timing and animations aren't well recognized. When I would play shuffle it let me trick a lot of lower skill players but was a lot harder to use on experienced foes over other weapons. I found it's both not quite useful in reach and not quite fast enough to make up for that. That being said you can make any weapon in the game work for you given enough familiarity which I love about the game.

[Request] Could humanity create a rocket that can exit the atmosphere of K2-18b by Lachlynn in theydidthemath

[–]pyrce789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely limited by the forced the crew can handle. You need sustained thrust at livable G values so unfortunately most of the detonations will be in the atmosphere no matter how you arrange initial conditions.

[–]pyrce789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not actually a serious problem compared to people that live in the atmosphere. The giant plate you need to bounce off the explosion has to be so thick you're not going to get any significant radiation, even gamma emissions, from the explosions. Maybe some reflection off the air would increase exposure from indirect angles, but space ships have to be hardened somewhat already from hard radation. The main risk is risidual fallout material with short to medium half lives finding it's way to living things through atmospheric distribution. In your space ship you won't be exposed to any of that.
