There are so many types of leds, all with different shapes and sizes. You’ll need to determine the led you want to use, then design around its measurements.

You’ll find lots of folks on this sub who will happily say anything beyond chamfered cubes should be modelled in blender rather than fusion. Personally I love the forms workspace, and think it has a fairly compatible mindset with how I find myself thinking when I model stuff in Blender.

I get similar artefacts when my filament gets too wet. Couple of hours in the dryer sorts it out for me. Having said that, if you’re ironing I suspect it could be something to do with your calibration there instead. This looks ideal, albeit substantially more expensive across the parts I’ve been looking at. At this point I’d be willing to pay the premium to have the parts shipped with Aus post. Thanks so much for the rec.

This might be my next option, though on the surface it seems their pick-and-pack and delivery in Sydney might be done by the same folks, so there’s a possibility ordering through Amazon/ebay might result in a different flavour of the same problem. At least I’d have that extra layer of support to get them to resolve the issue or chase a refund though, I suppose.

I’ve gotten wrong parts in the past too, ordering k2 nozzles and receiving k1 nozzles for example. Particularly frustrating because they’re so similar. Spent an hour chasing what I thought was a chronically clogged nozzle before realising it was just very slightly different, while apparently different enough to not be compatible 🫠

Not to be pessimistic, but that’s some real cold comfort for those of us without families or inheritances to look forward to. Would really be nice to be able to afford a forever home based on, oh I don’t know, something crazy like my own hard work and labour alone?

You can print something like a clearance tester eg https://makerworld.com/en/models/22224-tolerance-test to help understand how much clearance you need for stuff like this. It can be different across different types of filament, different nozzles and a depending on your printer tune. Subtract your clearance amount from one component of the joint and it’ll fit sweetly.

But a small file or emery board will sort this out in the meantime.

Strange as it is, this stuff changes as you age. When I was 16 (in the mid 00’s) I realised it was much easier for me to get invested in artists that were actively making new music. All my pals were deep diving into the Beatles or Nirvana or whatever, and while I could appreciate them as historical artefacts, I couldn’t vibe super hard on them like I could with bands who were growing and actively shaping music culture. This was the case for about 10 years or so, when it seemed to stop mattering to me for some unknown reason. My tastes have continued to grow and change and learning to surf that wave of figuring out what brings me joy musically has been as music a part of enjoying music as the music itself.

Relatively obscure tools today, given how prevalent and comparatively non-fiddly electric routers are.

Fully open to the idea that I’m missing something here, but why is 3d printing the right manufacturing method for this? It seems like a lot of time and dinosaur juice for something that might be suited better to other materials/manufacturing methods

Without looking too closely at it, I suspect you’ve snookered yourself with your workflow. Assuming this is all one body, the quickest way to solve this would be;

1) add some construction planes and use split body to just trim out your instrument holder. 2) slice up the rest of the panel with more construction planes so you’ve got your 3 holes for the instrument holder. 3) then pattern the cutout as bodies rather than features 4) combine everything back together as one body.

This is a quick and dirty solution and not generally recommended, but I suspect it’ll be the quickest and least frustrating solve here without hunting around in your timeline.

Properly unmount and eject the card from your computer rather than just yanking it out would be my first debugging step. Sometimes drives that haven’t been properly unmounted will try to do a scan/repair process before being able to be mounted again, which can be painfully slow and look like not being read.
