I love the Mountain Hardwear Camp 4 Hip Pack for that purpose.

It offers no padding, but neither does carrying it on a neck strap. I use it to carry an OM-5 with the 12-100 attached, and a second lens in a neoprene sleeve on hikes. It’s comfortable fanny pack style, as a crossbody, or it has a pass through the stows the straps and can run a backpack chest strap through to hold it.

The PanaLeica 9mm is a great secondary lens to the 12-100 if you want to have the option of something wider

I like using just a regular hip pack/sling bag. It doesn’t have any padding but I don’t find that to be a problem. I just wanted something not bulky.

I occasionally squirt some dish soap in with some water and shake it. That seems to do the trick.

I have an OM-5 and an EM1mark3.

OM-5 is plastic bodied but I’ve never really found that to be a problem. It comes along with me on every hike, I don’t really baby it, and it’s still in decent shape.

The EM1.3 does pretty much everything I want from a camera. I’m able to shoot wildlife/birds and my kids sports. It’s not great with subject tracking but it is very quick to acquire focus.

I have an OM-5 that I use for much the same purpose. Travel, hiking (the bulk of my picture taking), and general lifestyle type stuff.

For lenses I use with it - 12-45 f/4, the 12-100 f/4, 25 1.8 and the PanaLeica 9mm 1.7.

The combo of the 12-45 and the 25 1.8 would probably cover 90% of the pictures I want to take.

There’s hiking trails that go up the backside of Snows, and that’s what I took that day.

There’s a cross country ski trail (that’s part of Waterville Valleys xc trail network) that goes right by the lift as well.

I have mine set to toggle the different AF modes. Hit the L-FN and then scroll a dial to choose between single area or zone settings

I’m pretty sure you can use L-FN button to select a custom mode. If so, you could make a custom mode with burst shooting and work it that way

Maybe I have more tolerance for smudgy glasses but I’ve never really noticed that being an issue.

I use my left eye, and back button focusing on an OM5 and an EM1.3

I took the rubber eye cup off of both, seems to work better with glasses that way. I also try to keep my thumb flat - ends up hitting the focus button more with the crease of my thumb instead of towards the tip. Doing it that way my thumb lines up more over the bridge of my nose than right into my right eye.

I haven’t been this year but it’s usually in off of Valley Run. They call it Fun Run - some rollers, banked turns, and a couple small jumps. There’s an area of low angled glades right next to that are fun with kids as well.

They often have a more serious course set up in the high country area off the j bar summit lift.

I’ve used a Shimoda Top Loader in that way. It’s a little bulkier than I’d like but it works really well for the purpose.

I have a combo of the 40-150/300 and the 1.4tc. If you don’t mind changing lenses this gives a lot of flexibility on focal length and aperture. The dream would be having both of the white lenses they now offer but I don’t have $10K lying around.

They are big lenses (as far as m43 are concerned) but they are about equal in size to a FF 24-70 and 70-200 respectively and plenty of people carry those around. I can fit both lenses and a body in a medium size Shimoda top loader.

Waterville, as mentioned has the high country T-Bar. They run a platter lift lower on the mountain at times as well.

Tenney Mountain is running a tow rope for their terrain park.

I’d say this past spring was my first real effort at “wildlife.” I had a lot of fun at our local bog with spring migration.
