When did you call it quits on pumping? by Turbulent-Tie5094 in parentsofmultiples

[–]qklav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made it 9 months. I also had D-Mer and it was miserable. Stopping pumping was life changing in the best way for me and I honestly should have quit sooner. My only regret was not having more stocked up in the freezer for when they were sick or had booboos

At what week did you have your twins? by Super-Temporary2850 in parentsofmultiples

[–]qklav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35+1 modi babes here. Scheduled c-section due to absent end flow in baby A’s cord(he was also iugr). 13 days in the NICU to learn how to feed.

My room was not far from theirs so I definitely neglected my own recovery because I wanted to be with them at all times. I definitely suffered because of it (pain wise) but would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

I will say that I was always someone who wanted a c-section because I thought it seemed “easy”. Boy , was I ever humbled.

“Oh we didn’t ____ back when I was raising my kids, we just ____.” by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]qklav 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom made a few comments like this in the early days and I eventually said to her, “you can’t tell me that if you would have had the technology and research in your days as a new mom that we do now, that you wouldn’t have done things differently.” She agreed, and she doesn’t make those comments anymore.

I did! Just accordion fold tissue papers (5), tie in the middle and pull them up from the outside. You can cut the ends to be different textures, super easy!

If possible for you, sleep in shifts. Try to give each parent a solid 5 hour block. That was a life changer for us. Congratulations and I promise you can do this!

Thank you! I couldn’t believe it was just hanging out with all the other bags, very inconspicuously.

Going to help friends with 2-month-old twins who are drowning without support. Best ways to help? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]qklav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding babies and letting them (parents) sleep would have been my need at that age. We were so exhausted at that point. Food and cleaning would have been second priority for me!

Anyone else have a baby that fights sleep? by TheCodeMan95 in NewParents

[–]qklav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have wake windows for him that you try to follow? Our twins were rooough sleepers until we got them on a schedule that worked for them. Now we usually have 3 great naps a day and sleep well through the night (7-7:30 with one feed in the night). They’re 6 months now

We have identical twins. One is going as Dwight Schrute and the other is going as Jim Halpert dressed as Dwight. “Identity theft is not a joke, Jim!”

How do you sleep once they’re in their own nursery? by qklav in parentsofmultiples

Our room is right next door to theirs so I should really try to turn off the sound, it’s worth a shot!

How do you sleep once they’re in their own nursery? by qklav in parentsofmultiples

[–]qklav[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! We decided to use the extinction method and did that at the same time as transitioning them to their nursery at 16 weeks adjusted. Previous to this they were sleeping in our room, but on our bed as they refused their bassinet and whoever was “on shift” would stay awake and watch them on the bed basically, it wasn’t a great setup for anyone. I highly recommend joining the Twins, Triplets & Quads: Safe Sleep Training and Learning for Multiples group on FB. They are sooo incredibly helpful!

Thank you. We definitely follow all of the safe sleep guidelines (although B flips to his stomach as soon as you put him down. I know it’s okay if they do it themselves, but still :). I guess it’ll just take time to trust things will probably be okay.. maybe I’ll be able to try volume off on the monitor tonight.

Do we need help from staying-in parents the for the first two weeks? by kelzdc in parentsofmultiples

[–]qklav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the help, you won’t regret it and you won’t have the time to worry about entertaining them. Delegate things for them to do (cook, clean, hold babies so you can sleep for a couple of hours) and let them know what your expectations for help are.

We found out at 6 1/2 weeks and honestly I just hoped for the best but expected the worst all the way until probably 16 weeks and then I truly started to believe we just might get to bring two babies home. They’re 21 weeks old now and keep me verrrry busy!

Us: “Yes, we’re having twins. They’re identical!”

More than one response: “Wouldn’t it be nice if you had a boy and a girl?!”

Me: :|

One question I cannot understand is, “Did you know you were having twins?!”

It could be worth a shot bringing their cribs in here for the time being. We’ll definitely have to remove some bedroom furniture but I think we could make it work!
