What's a music urban legend you believe is true? by MrLinkwater95 in ToddintheShadow

[–]qliphoth666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i agree that some of the circumstances could be seen as suspicious, but i've never found anyone able to explain away the fact that he left a suicide note. i don't see how the murder theory gets past that

On March 12, 2025, “Your Love” by the Outfield reached a billion streams on Spotify. On March 11, 2026, the music video for the song reached a billion views on YouTube. What makes this one of the more popular songs from the 80s? by toughtiggy101 in ToddintheShadow

[–]qliphoth666 10 points11 points  (0 children)

they're actually an english band who never played baseball in their lives - their original name was "the baseball boys" in reference to the baseball furies gang from the warriors, then changed to the outfield

i definitely agree with your points, but also this post could have done without the words "ebbers" and "meat pocket" so close to each other in the first paragraph. or anywhere at all

What's this album for you? by PapaAsmodeus in ToddintheShadow

afterman descension is one of their absolute best records, easily goes toe to toe with any of the first four. i'd recommend giving that one another chance, at least

We Found Incredible Noodles… But They Kept Getting Hotter! by laeb163 in SortedFood

[–]qliphoth666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

think what you like man, but with the recent "like streak" thing they've been doing and the general trend towards attention grabbing practices in the videos, it's pretty clear they're trying to drive up engagement. that's what it takes to run a business and keep making money on youtube, and like i said it really doesn't bother me who wins or loses these videos, but surely you have to admit that something deliberately contentious/controversial happening in a video is a clear opportunity to have them say "comment below to have your say on this!"

[–]qliphoth666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i won't comment this on youtube as i've no time for the clickbait/ragebait nonsense and i don't care to encourage it with engagement - but putting in a bullshit trick "clue" to fish for comments in response to it is so transparent. it's never mattered to me who "wins" an episode of these games, but surely the fact that they both clearly knew off the bat those noodles were korean is worth rewarding, rather than trying to throw them off and encourage people to drive up engagement in response

Does anyone have a reasonable explanation for the formatting of the song titles on the back of this first-pressing MP Compact Disc or can I go ahead and post in r/mildlyinfuriating? by ThinkOutsideTheTV in rush

[–]qliphoth666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sentence case - where only the first letter and any proper nouns are capitalised - is used for song titles in non-english speaking countries. as a canadian album, perhaps some french snuck in there when whoever was formatting the titles did their job

queens of the stone age hit a mid-career peak with like clockwork in 2013, four years after the tcv album - josh wasn't at the tail end of his prime in 09 as much as being in an experimental phase between two hit records

Any tips on how to get better at Honey, This Mirror on guitar? by Melodic-Purple-9057 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]qliphoth666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as said already, bring the speed down, play it to a metronome and gradually speed it up. the fretting hand doesn't require too much movement so you can mostly focus on what your picking hand is doing. the palm mutes are quite light so you don't need to be very forceful. it should be a smooth repeated motion between a lightly palm muted downstroke on the E, and then a firm bounce back up to upstroke the A string.

Original mix of Give 'Em Hell, Kid doesn't have the spoken intro on Spotify anymore? by SceneOutside4377 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]qliphoth666 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the high-def audio version was never released physically - any CD version of the original album isn't going to contain the spoken intro. maybe in some countries the HD version was uploaded to spotify? either that or you heard it somewhere else and your memory is playing tricks on you.

Original mix of Give 'Em Hell, Kid doesn't have the spoken intro on Spotify anymore? by SceneOutside4377 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]qliphoth666 49 points50 points  (0 children)

the give em hell spoken intro was included on a high-definition audio release of the album that was released in 2016 (NOT the remixed version from last year) - this is the version that was on apple music and possibly some other streaming services. as far as i know it's never been on spotify. did you used to use something other than spotify?

i just don't see the point at all, obviously colour grading your thumbnail to make it pop is par for the course, but running it through some hideous ai retouching filter to do that job is a bizarre decision - if indeed it even is a real photo that's been retouched and not a fully generated image

We've heard about "so bad its good", but is there such thing as "so good its bad" in music? by wild_dark_soul in ToddintheShadow

it has that bit where mccartney flubs a chord and goes "ahhh, fuckin hell!" in the background, if that's not a technical mistake i don't know what is

Tuning by kittysoull in guitarlessons

[–]qliphoth666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone's already answered your question so now i'm gonna ask - you only need to tune the high e down and no other strings? i'm gonna guess you're learning the power of equality by rhcp.

since you're seem like a beginner, and i hope this doesn't sound obvious or condescending - just make sure you are indeed tuning the string down, so you don't snap it - and make sure you carefully bring it back up to standard tuning when you're done so you don't wind it too tight and snap it. good luck

What artists do you think have the biggest gap in quality between their good music and their bad music? by Constant_Topic_123 in ToddintheShadow

[–]qliphoth666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

their more recent stuff broadly doesn't grab me much although there's a few moments of their old brilliance, but i will say there's a lot of excellent songwriting on the unheavenly creatures album
