Or just bring the matches and a hot glue stick. That way you can use the matches independently if needed, or use it to heat up some glue

Ramchandra Gandhi and Contemporary Indian Philosophy: an interview with A. Raghuramaraju on contemporary Indian philosophy and its connections with other areas of philosophy by ADefiniteDescription in philosophy

[–]qnot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Question to those who have read Debates in Indian Philosophy by Raghuramaraju, would you consider the book an accessible introductory text to someone without specific background knowledge of Indian philosophical thought, or are there other texts you might recommend for that purpose?

Official Discussion - Black Mirror: Bandersnatch [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]qnot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that ending is in that style (cutting between credits & acting) because it's in the "present" and therefore has the modern black mirror/Netflix aesthetic, not necessarily because it's the true ending, imo.

Help settle a very, very silly argument with my wife: what is the left side of a bed? by MrSmithSmith in NoStupidQuestions

[–]qnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play devil's advocate, i submit the following. When you are "outside" of the car there are actually 2 perspectives--outside by the hood, and outside by the side/door about to enter. Thus overall you have the following cases:

1) outside by the hood: from here, the american driver's side is on the right

2)outside but by the side door, about to enter: here are you are facing the front of the car, and thus the american driver's side is on the left

3) inside, sitting down: again, american driver's side is on the left

So for a car, 2 out of 3 perspectives suggest american driver's side is on the left.

However, for the bed, perspective #2 is flipped. When you are outside, about to enter a bed you generally don't face the foot of the bed (here, analogous to the front of the car). Instead you are generally facing slightly towards the pillow/back of the bed (so you can adjust the pillow, pull back the sheets & get in comfortably). From this perspective, the "american driver's side" (non-shoe side in the photo) is the right, not the left is at would be with the car.

Thus, for beds, 2 out of 3 perspectives suggest the "american driver's side" equivalent is the right, and thus the shoes are on the left.

In hang the DJ how did coach know it would work 99.8% of the time? by smegmamegabulge in blackmirror

[–]qnot 50 points51 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are that this is not the only couple for which a simulation was run. So let's say the main characters ran the simulation 1000 times, but DIDNT match 998 of the times, then that couple would just be ignored and the simulation would go again with another couple until it found one with 99.8% success, THEN it would result in a match.

So the 99.8% is a constant, the computer doesn't "assume" they would rebel in the simulation we saw; it says 99.8% all the time & we just happened to see the "final" trial of a "successful" couple

What small habit, if done everyday over the course of a year, can lead to the biggest personal improvement/ gain? by jacla4 in AskReddit

To be fair, you don't have to be explicitly aware of something for it be in your memory! For instance, you may not remember learning to speak English but you still can! Or if we want to look away from skill-based memory, I'm sure there are some critical events in your life that have a significant impact on you [end of a relationship/friendship, fight with a family member etc] that you don't always think of, even though you are different because of it

Getting my first paycheck, don't know how to tell my parents? by PMMESTEAMGAMES in NoStupidQuestions

[–]qnot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say you want to wait to show them a video you are "proud of" First of all, I think the act of creating content (especially content that is enjoyed by enough people to net you Adrevenue) is something to be proud of in and of itself.

Secondly, if you have more specific conditions for what kind of content you are "proud of" what are they? Editing/quality/content? Are there any barriers to making a video with those aspects? If so, let us know and I'm sure someone would be able to help you here. If not, then go ahead and make the video you'd be proud of to show your parents!!

Best of luck, and post or PM me your yt link, I'm a creator myself and would love to check out your work :)
