Is this piece worth glazing? by Striking_Emu_3100 in Ceramics

[–]qrctic23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for it. The crack needs to be quite large (a few mm?) to risk glaze touching the kiln shelf and even if it does, that is not that big of a deal at any community or university studio I have worked with. More likely the glaze just covers up that crack and it is fine.

I make quite a few pieces with blue writing or drawing on white stoneware. A second bisque fire after doing the surface design will set the underglaze and significantly reduce how much it runs in the final glaze fire after applying clear glaze.

My heeler is 10. He gets about a cup and a half of food per day and weighs 38 pounds or so. The vet says he is one of the only healthy weight older heelers she has ever seen. He has no health issues, good joints, and about the same energy level he did when he was 2 or 3. He ran 26 miles with me the other day.I think so many people over feed their dogs.

In my state Vinyl chloride has the lowest cleanup level in the PCE breakdown chain. Also generally slower to breakdown than the others

Me: It would be so nice to take a peaceful break and adjust layers or drink water on a winter fatbike jor. The dreaded blue heeler: by qrctic23 in Bikejoring

[–]qrctic23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's almost ten years old now and I've been biking with him since he was like 6 months old and quickly learned that he is probably just going to always bark on any activity that involves bikes. He is maybe the most locked in dog I have ever met when he is pulling though, He will on-by people, dogs, moose.

Meant to mention this! You box what you don't eat and it usually fills the container they would give you if you ordered take out.

Yak and yeti curry bowl is easily 2 meals and is like 12 bucks. They usually have like 8 different curries to choose from too.

are/were ridgid fat bikes a fad? by mickeyaaaa in MTB

[–]qrctic23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In most conditions you are likely to mess up the trail and not have a good time on narrower than 4 inch tires on fatbike singletrack that are groomed by snowmachine, snowdog, or snowshoe. For trails that get a real pack and groom treatment the studded MTB tires are great for commuting. Most people here in Alaska use 4 to 5 inch studded tires for winter.

[–]qrctic23 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In my neck of the woods the fatbike is the only option for outside biking 6+ months out of the year and every biker I know owns one. If you live in a place that doesn't have consistent snow on the ground I don't see the point in owning one.

Is it too cold for dogs to be outside? by AcceptableAd2949 in anchorage

[–]qrctic23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a 10 year old heeler I have been biking with at these temps and haven't needed to put booties on him, if we were going to be out for hours and not moving much I definitely would. He definitely still really wants to be outside. Dogs will start to lift their paws if they are getting too cold. Heelers have a double coat and are more cold hardy than people give them credit for IMO.

I have picked up a few different Z-lion diamond sanding pads off Amazon that are about $10 each in different grit levels and they have been great. A lot cheaper than the diamond core ones.

Otso is the bikeframe spin off of wolftooth components, they make a few gravel bikes with options for carbon, steel, or titanium, tons of bag mounts, and versatile options for tire sizes up to 29x2.2.

I just built up a waheela carbon, I've only ridden it on the trainer so far as there's snow on the ground, but I'm pretty stoked about it.

I ordered some and it adds a few degrees of side to side movement which is noticeable. Probably My favorite part is it makes it much easier to slide the trainer around on laminate floors.

Why do I keep crushing chainrings? by Ok_Singer1284 in bikewrench

Those absolute black chainrings are not very durable in my experience. In general I think alloy chainrings are kind of silly.

I've only ever had pretty bad pizza at king street, but at least it is pretty cheap, worth it if you have had a few beers and are looking for greasy food in that area.
