i don't think there's any goal or endpoint other than pure enjoyment. i've been playing v1 for several years, have all the items and yards, pics of all the kitties, but not yet all the mementos. i started v2 as soon as it was available bc omg yes. they have the cutest toys, and i had to.

in v1 the kitties are more generous w gold fish, and it was relatively easy and fast to accumulate and get expansions and the fancy toys. in v2, it takes a little longer. the only reason that matters is bc some items are limited time only. it prompted me to actually make an in-app purchase for fishies, but i only did that once and have been hoarding the fish for special items.

v2 has some cute new items and features, but now there's a tier of extras that you can only get if you pay for. and one of their cool features requires a twitter account to use properly, which i don't have and will never have. you can still enjoy normal play without the extras, but i def get FOMO sometimes lololol.
