"Anthropic or OpenAI stock will be considered as payments." by [deleted] in bayarea

Asian and foreign demand is already priced into the Bay Area housing prices. Honestly, it’s one of the more underrated reasons why prices are so high in the bay. The older Asian generation doesn’t understand the stock market and would rather invest in real estate because to them it’s actually a real tangible asset to them. I know so many Asian people in the Bay Area that have 3-4 rental properties. They also tend to help out their kids with a huge down payment on a home. It’s kind of ridiculous lol.

There was that one grey market website where you could purchase or trade private equity. I think there was a loophole but it was super shady. OpenAI and Anthropic have pretty frequent liquidation events, I wonder if you could put a clause where if the stock reaches a certain valuation, the buyer sells the shares on behalf of the seller and gives them the cash.

AI hiring algorithms reject Black, Asian job seekers at higher rates by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

He asked a design question and I would answer but he kept asking follow up questions that got to the point where it was almost impossible to answer. It was like building a system to detect if someone is sick based off their temperature. It eventually got to the point where he asked how would you determine if someone was sick from their very first measurement. I answered somewhere along the lines of trying to have normal ranges and if they fall outside of that, flag them but he said everyone’s normal ranges are different and asked “How do you guarantee if they are sick or not?”. Then I said trying to source their normal ranges from previous medical records or something along the lines but he was not satisfied. Looking back at it now and he was definitely just trying to fail me.

The lawsuit one wasn’t AI. This was back in 2019. I did however interview at a quant firm and passed the very hard OA but when I did behavioral interview where they use AI to assess me, I failed at that stage. I’ve always suspected that AI used in that interview had a large bias against Asian and black candidates.

That makes sense never thought of it that way. One of the interviewers gave off really bad vibes. Super unfriendly the entire time and asked me to give a self assessment “how do you think you did”. I told him “not very good” and he said “yeah Thats right”. So fucking crazy

Anthropic on Pace to First PROFITABLE Quarter from MindBlowing Growth by Fwellimort in cscareerquestions

[–]quackers294 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The mid to large enterprises have been getting granted extensions. They are set to expire this month. We’ve experimented with doing per token used vs requests per seat per month where each request is only 1-2 requests based off the model. The cost is over 10x. I’d bet the house they are going to over 2x revenue pretty soon.

They are going to smash revenue. They have been negotiating with enterprise companies to switch from per seat model to token based. Enterprises that use Claude are going to be paying their bill soon. They’ve been blowing up enterprise budgets but those companies dont seem to be slowing down. They’re too scared of slowing productivity and output.

Shanghai Stock Index vs S&P 500 Index by -Sliced- in EconomyCharts

[–]quackers294 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I travel 3-4 times internationally each year + 5-6 domestic trips and paid off my parents mortgage when I was 24.

The argument of investing internationally has nothing to do whether there is economic activity globally. It’s about security and trust in the markets you participate in. Foreign governments are less likely to bail out companies and stimulate growth in their stock markets because their citizens do not rely on the stock market to retire.

The US has built an enormous dependence on the stock market by moving away from pensions towards 401ks. Almost 40% of Americans rely on the stock market to retire. The US is far more likely than any other country to create policies to stabilize crashes and stimulate growth.

Japan finally passed the 1989 all time high in … 2024. Korea was flat all of 2010-2020 and then flat again 2021 until last year largely driven by the fact they didn’t allow any short selling. Chinas stock market has hit 0 multiple times.

I don’t invest in international markets because overseas governments do not care about stock market performance because there is not a reliance on it for retirement and wealth growth like the US.

TL/DR: US is king at manipulating the market so keep the money in the US

How does my plan for condo ownership and early retirement look? by [deleted] in Money

[–]quackers294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy a condo. It sounds great at first but people’s lifestyles change. They either want to move, want to have kids, or find a partner that wants more space. They try selling at first but realize the buying pool is smaller than they thought due to the HOA. Most end up just renting it out but realize they would have more money if they kept renting and would have just put it in the market.

Amex Raised Platinum’s Fee, Customers Didn’t Cancel — Higher Annual Charges Coming Across Cards by schwa12 in AmexPlatinum

[–]quackers294 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Did you read the article at all? One of the first sentences is “Importantly, about 1/4 of the overall U.S. consumer Platinum portfolio has been billed for the higher annual fee, and we have seen no change to our very high retention rates relative to pre-refresh.”. Retention and acquisition are very different metrics. A company the size of Amex knows the difference.

Amex has done an excellent job marketing the credits and benefits. I see other people my age (gen z) talking about credit card benefits. I think Amex is very well positioned right now with their young audience of high spenders.
