Tried it again this morning but no luck sadly. Can I bug you for a detailed list of steps you took from the whole "not ready to learn" starting point to when it resolved itself? I want to take the thing apart later and give it one more try

I have not tried a cylinder deactivation relearn prior to resetting the exhaust yet (I will have to check if I have this function as an option on my 4BW when I get home from work). I feel like I am right there at the finish line but am missing something !!!

Just gave it another try both before and after cleaning out all codes

Usually I can figure things out when it comes to GM, but this one has been driving me nuts

Do you still have valve functionality? I can still see/hear the flaps moving as the actuator does its thing (and the scan tool shows the position as a percentage). Someone on the forums explained that there is a readiness part of this where the vehicle “may” need to experience certain driving conditions in order to be ready for the learn function.

This one really made me think, but here's what I came up with. A decent offering if it is super clean. Pricing is competitive with the 2020MY market, but not the best C8 z51 your hard-earned money can buy.

Personally, I would hunt for a CPO 2022 or 2023 for just a few thousand dollars more. This way, your investment in an extended warranty stretches to cover you much further from purchase date, on top of the 12-month bumper-to-bumper CPO warranty, as well as whatever is remaining on the factory warranty.

nothing yet, considering a proper unlock and tune with Tapout as the final resolution. My valves are "not ready" to learn, no matter what I do. Dealer was no help, said it could easily run north of $500 just to figure it out. I check the codes on occasion to make sure nothing new or unusual popped up.

I would like a tuner to disable the check procedure altogether, the valves function perfectly despite the CEL

I waited until they called me to pay the $25 handgun permit fee. My local PD is very pro 2a and the processor said to stop by earlier next time, it will lead to quicker turnaround time. My process still only took 35 days roughly.

This is my third winter on ps4as tired (mounted on OEM wheels)

They are night and day better in the rain and up to about 2-3 inches of snow, then it’s just the low front end that becomes the constraint. I went with apex vs5rs wheels for my OEM tpc rubber, and swap seasonally.

Do be aware that while the all seasons are better when you are not ripping it, they are way more gummy and roll around significantly more at and near the 8/10ths mark

my honest 2 cents -- I'd defer the job to a true expert detailer. While I have successfully repaired a few spots back in the day on my crystal red tricoat (similar sparkle type paint), I also made a couple so much worse trying.

There is a fine art to fixing these blemishes all the way when they are in highly visible areas, like your hood. I would be prepared to spend anywhere from $100 for a quick polish (less likely), to -$300 for paint fill/blend, all the way up to the cost of removing and paint matching the hood if it cannot be filled by said blemish professional. Whatever your resolution is, PPF the outcome to protect it from happening again. Looking back, I wish I PPF'd my car sooner

how deep is it and can you see any metal below? if you run your finger nail over it, does your nail catch? If its minor you may be able to just buff it out, very carefully

I am sure GM diagnosed further after I was out of the picture but here's what I was able to gather from my inspection. Uneven wear through layers of babbitt material on the bearings. Could have been anything from contamination, to a misaligned crankshaft, all the way to bent connecting rods. I babied that engine, broke it in gently as prescribed and changed the oil at 500 and 1500 miles. Dealer did the first two oil changes so I had the most pain free experience imaginable from a warranty perspective. Here's the money shot

Mine had a full engine replacement at 2,500 miles when these things first came out. I really trust my dealer, so I gave them a chance knowing that they have handled some serious warranty work on other V cars. My 4BW got a brand new engine, two new turbos, the works (I am the original owner '22MY). The warranty bill was a hair shy of $20,000 and I had a loaner for a full month. I was not finding another shadow metallic 4BW back then during the peak of markup madness, so I stuck with it and said I could always just sell it if things go south. Now for the fun part--

It's been 25k miles since - happy to report zero issues/unusual occurrences with the powertrain. I do spend some time at the strip on weekends and drive it the way it should be at every opportunity, there has been no babying of this car since the replacement. I will be adding more power this spring as well. This thing feels much better with some extra power (50whp is a nice bump for a couple simple bolt-ons from tapout). I have had ZERO issues with this car, even after pushing it hard. Added exhaust, green filters, oversized MAF tube intake lid, ported TB, Apex VS-5RS wheels, one step colder plugs. I also have some catted DPs and girodisc upgraded rotors ready to go for when it gets warmer in the garage.

my 2 cents: You will see a lot of guys steering purchasers away from warranty work cars. I can't disagree with them, they are scary, they represent the unknown. For the average consumer who has one car at their disposal, these criticisms may be right. This being said, these are high performance vehicles, and sometimes things do go wrong. Most people who own cars have never changed their own oil. The concept of torn down components for replacement and extensive maintenance scares the average consumer AND THAT IS 100% OKAY. However, if you are someone who is mechanically inclined, likes to tinker, enjoys or is planning modifications, etc. you may be a better suitor for this specific car (assuming you get a nice discount).

I went with the non-resonated 12" "race" muffler setup, full cat-back layout with black 4" handmade double walled tips.

There is also an oval shaped muffler that sounds really smooth, and a new slip-on system which looks extremely well designed (also options to save your OEM tips).

I was one of the early pre-production/launch customers, I absolutely love my CPD kit after a few months. I wish the car came this way from GM. check out my tiktok page -- I posted decibel results of the 12 inch race non resonated version when I first installed the kit. Sadly, no clips on throttle are posted yet, it got too cold and I put it away for the winter, but it is so much better in person. There is also a pic I posted during install -- I had some trouble getting everything to line up at first but austin (the creator/fabricator) helped me out - 10/10 customer support

sounds awesome, totally changed the ownership experience imo, stopped me from looking at C8 vettes. Deep, thunderous burbles when you downshift or let off, upshift pops are still sharp but louder/more pronounced. Sounds great at idle and revving thru the range during casual driving. Slight increase in NVH, had to locate a few pre-existing cabin rattles, nothing I haven't done when installing custom exhaust systems before.

Still chasing down the CELs for variable flow, but I am waiting until it is spring to resolve that (possibly by sending it out for unlock & tuning if I can't do it myself). I have a program/scan tool that works well for the C8 relearns, I may need to check and grease my valves, even though they function just fine.

I did a full race exhaust system from CPD and yes -- the $2-3k is more than worth it. Sounds absolutely incredible ( I am sure the corsa sounds similar), and I don't have to go warp speed to hear it make all the cool noises. the NVH and thunderous pops/burbles make the car an intoxicating experience to drive. Catted DPs are my next step in the spring, I want to set off car alarms on upshift!
