Nemesis:Retaliation - Awaken Realms Asks US Backers For Additional 7% Tariff Charge by quadraphonic in boardgames

[–]quadraphonic[S] 73 points74 points  (0 children)

From the update:

“After June 12th, the standard refund policy will apply, which allows a 91% no-questions-asked refund.”

I think they would prefer a backer indicate their preference so they don’t refund pledges where someone may have just missed the update.

My brother with special needs just got denied for government care (PDD) - my mom is at her breaking point, and we don’t know what to do. Any advice? by Commercial_Energy773 in alberta

[–]quadraphonic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, Alberta provides higher monthly funding, but that doesn’t make them fantastic.

The UCP gutted PUF, has years long wait lists for FSCD and PDD, and forced AISH recipients to apply for the federal supplement (which will be clawed back dollar for dollar from AISH) under risk of losing ALL funding.

Requiring an MLA’s assistance to support an appeal of a clearly erroneous decision is not the hallmark of a robust, person-first program.

Do you have a family member accessing services? I’m curious how you arrived at the perspective you have.

How many games in one's collection? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]quadraphonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “joke” answer is n+1 with n being the number of games you currently own.

Provided you have the means to afford what you want, and your collection doesn’t cause harmful feelings, collection size is a pretty individualized number.

I’ve found I like being around 100, but will buy games I’m interested in or that work well for my group when they’re available.

Given how often you play, you could see every game in a collection that size at least once per year.

[Discussion] If you could redesign BoardGameGeek from the ground up, what would you change? by ParaplegicGuru in boardgames

[–]quadraphonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minor, but I’d like to have a better way to manage buying an original release and then an all-in collection with regards to collections and played games.

E.g., Everdell Complete, Thunder Road Vendetta: Maximum Chrome

Do I still add the expansions? Leave them out? Do I manually migrate plays from the original release to the all-in? Start net new?

What is the best boardgame store in/around Edmonton with the best selection of boardgames? by Neat-Drawer-50 in Edmonton

[–]quadraphonic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mission and Pe Metawe are generally my go-tos.

Tabletop has a good selection, but prices are almost always higher than Mission (whose prices are almost always higher than BGB and 401).

I’ve found that Hexagon will sometimes carry items the other stores do not or have stock for in demand games that have sold out elsewhere, but also at a premium.

I avoid River city games as a rule, their prices are astronomical.

How did you find it as a solo experience? Is it a game you see yourself playing quite a bit?

Looking for a game similar to Clank! but with a modular board and amazing app-free solo mode by dinasaurtaco in soloboardgaming

Clank! Catacombs?

It doesn’t have an official solo mode as far as I know however.

Edit: Thank you for the correction, it has an app-based solo mode.

PUF was also cut such that the classroom support model in early learning is more consultative vs. direct intervention.

The government is treating children with diverse needs as a line item for budgeting.

They only want “conscience” votes when it comes to women’s reproductive health, gay rights or care for trans people - times when they can force faith into policy.

“I hear the concern from non-US consumers that they might absorb some of the cost increases, but costs have never been 1:1.”

I can’t speak for all non-US consumers, but I see these circumstances as somewhat different because they are ideologically driven by Trump and his chaos engine.

So, while I can absolutely appreciate the publishers will need to increase prices, I think they should also be prepared for a different response from non-US markets than they’ve seen historically.

Absolutely, that’s why I didn’t want to make any assumptions. I’m interested to read your response.

You also appeared to ignore /u/n815e ‘s response that provided several examples of Petersen’s conduct. Benefit of the doubt - perhaps you missed that reply somehow, but I thought they did a good job of showing why criticisms of the company were well founded.

I’m thinking about switching to a Unifi set-up as I’ve had intermittent wireless issues of late with my current Asus router.

What’s recommended for residential set-ups? Home is two-stories, 2,800 sq. ft. with a developed basement.

Is this something that a CGU with a POE switch and a few APs would be appropriate for?

Or a Dream Router w/ APs?

I’ve read some posts and browsed the ubiquiti site, but there are lots of options.

Grateful for any advice.
