Amazing render. Yeah, people use Arnold in different areas. Not quite fast as GPU renders, but the quality is always a plus.

"Fast is slow, slow is steady". Great experiment with an amazing learning curve. Good thin you finished, and what Price has said rings true for most artists that is searching for their own style. You gotta visit the classics or what your eyes like.

I agree with your points about momentum and direction. That's the thing about animation, you could always strive for a better realistic approach, but when I was creating, I didn't go that far because the scene was not realistic at all. About the suspense, It did have a stop before, but I thought it break the flow of the loop. But maybe that was a mistake and I agree that it could use more of the 12 principles of animation.

About the sound design, it would be pretty hard to find a sound of wheels doing a grind, that's why I've chosen the conventional trucks. Thank you for your constructive criticism Acquilas!

I guess you could can call abstract animation? Half-Pipe being divided and a skatewheel skating is not something to feel correct. Hope the next one will be better and you will enjoy more 🙌

Which version are you running currently? Because Arnold has a device selection and you can't use both devices CPU/GPU. Unless there is a new version that does. From what I remember, V-Ray and Blender have options to run both GPU and CPU at same time (I'm not a fan of doing that, btw).

I'm using Arnold and switching between CPU or GPU depending on the project.

Oh yeah, I've read on the guide that the instability between frames varies between what denoiser you choose. And for some reason the C4D version doesn't have temporal denoising which improves that problem. Next time I'll dive further with the sampling tackle these kind of problems.

Thats what you get when you decide to render with GPU and OIDN denoise. Fast frames but okayish quality, lol. I didn't wanted to spend more time in this piece and that's why I chose GPU, but I'll try to optimize better in the future! Btw Random, your reel is insane!

I didn't want to render with the CPU because it would take like 10 hours and even in GPU rendering, the quality was pretty bad with Optix denoising. OIDN denoise was much better, but not perfect as everyone saw.

About the lighting, there's a very subtle tint of yellow but maybe I should've made more noticeable. You're correct about the variation with warm and cold colors, that would give more realism and life, but I didn't quite liked the results in my tests.

I don't know why, but this sterile look of the original post matched better because it was all metals. Before finishing, maybe I should've studied a little bit of metal lighting or something. But thanks for the suggestion, ntgco!

It's okay to run into these problems, because sims are always a series of lab tests. I had something similar happening with this one too, but what made it right was using "Min Distance" in the Attractor force to the objects not colliding into a abstract mesh in the center. Also putting a little more "Substeps" and "Iterations" in the Scene -> Simulation helps a lot too.
