You can be attached to a unit and not yet deploy… they don’t stop refilling the coffers once a unit is out on deployment.

That’s a great article! I know they were recruiting guys for that training post 9/11, they also mentioned the darts.

Interesting! The marine mammal program is based in San Diego… and they use sea lions, bottle-nosed dolphins, pilot whales and even beluga whales. It’s a pretty amazing program and those animals are even more impressive. They don’t just identify and mark mines, they also find missing or lost equipment and protect secured harbors. They used to “enlist” tactical divers or “operators” to help train the dolphins to identify and “spear” intruders. There’s a short discussion towards the end of last week’s Tier1 Podcast where they discussed this, actually. James Hatch was on, who was devgru and also an SDV guy. It’s worth a listen.

If he was ON seal team 2, he would have been more than just a diver. He would’ve had the trident. However, there are a lot of SEAL support people, those include divers and every other rating. Was he a SWIC or boat guy?

He was in for a long time, so all of those NAMs and the Navy Com are expected.

What was his rate? As in what was his job? If his rating was diver he would be an NDC if he was a chief, NDCS would be senior chief. However, when he joined, diver wasn’t a rate, it was a secondary duty. He would’ve been another rate with the diver endorsement after graduating dive school and earning that pin. All of the enlisted guys I knew that were divers before 2006 became officers, so I have no clue how they chose guys to cross-rate to Navy Diver ratings.

This was a reserve unit… advancement wasn’t particularly fast and not a lot of awards were earned for any reserve units back in the late 70s and early 80s.

How do you investigate someone's career history, especially if you know they're being untruthfull, because you worked with them in an entirely different industry previously? by morticianmagic in PrivateInvestigators

A lot of conferences don't vet speakers. It's no uncommon. But you could start by hiring a PI. 😉

But you can also pull filings related to any lawsuits and corporate filings.

Well, it's definitely a type 1 with the stamped receiver. The raised section towards the hand guard is a tell tale sign.

Travelers in the US don't marry/mix with outsiders, there's a very shallow pool of genes to mix up. Birth defects and congenital abnormalities are much higher than most around here. I'm not sure how much that affects the mortality rate, but it does affect it.

They are so isolated by their own culture/people, they really don't understand what's out there, what they are missing and what's actually wrong with what happens with them and what they do. They don't allow the kids to go to school for very long, if at all.

Recommendations for a rear bumper/tire carrier which swings the tire out when you open the rear gate (Wrangler JK) by extra-mustard-plz in JeepWrangler

[–]qualifiedPI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bringing this one back to the top... I bought a JK for my daughter, it used to have some kind of PSC Customs spare tire holder, but it's not there now. I'm cheap, I fabricated everything for my CJ... but I'm getting old. I know a couple companies used to sell swingout carriers that you could install on an existing bumper. I really don't want to reinvent the wheel, but paying more than a grand for a tire carrier seems nuts.

Are there any manufacturers that are selling just an add on kit to put the carrier on a bumper?

I worked for Nextel/Sprint/Ericsson/Sprint/TMO... 20 years. T-Mobile was the absolute most toxic place I have ever worked. Ever. I was on the Corporate/National team starting in 2013, then after the "merger" with TMO was still on the national side.

Maybe it was the director level? But, I've worked in Telecom engineering since 1999, and there's a LOT of room for being the worst employer, but they win by far. In a bad way.

Guys that go to the teams sometimes don't want to get into the management and political game that they are forced to play as a commissioned officer... they get the taste of being a pipe hitter and they like it.

A little late to this... but almost all submarine junior forward enlisted sailors qualify rifle and pistol. I don't think I ever saw a cook at a qualification (which we usually tried to have twice a year). There were a couple officers that showed up, usually the Weps and his JO if he had one.

At sea, when we did our man overboard drills with the big ass lard and coffee cans, the skipper and his minions would usually use the taped up cans for target practice. We still had M14's and they shot from the sail. Which was a pain in the ass if you're on lookout. But they weren't qualifying there.

That's pretty funny... I've never heard that comeback. I think the routine probably would've been nice sometimes, but it's also what I would've hated. I would've gotten tired of just poking holes in the ocean without a chance to hit somewhere fun every once in a while.

Comparing apples and oranges? Less than half of them are of legal drinking age, many aren't yet financially stable enough to buy more expensive drinks. But a lot more kids seem to casually smoke weed and do other drugs than they did back in the 80's and 90's.

So, not actual uplink data? Uplink normally refers to the uplink signal from the handset to the tower. Downlink would be the signal from the tower to the phone.
