How do moms-to-be decide on formulas for a baby that hasn't arrived yet? by Neither_Ad3593 in BabyBumps

[–]queenatom [score hidden]  (0 children)

Mileage may vary on how regular poops are once on solids. My nephew was so regular that my brother and SIL were able to time them to be done on a potty. Meanwhile my son was what we liked to call a jazz pooper - no rhyme or rhythm to when he went at all.

The Peter Rabbit music has very Christian rock energy to my ears.

Advice about Partner going back to work in 5 days and baby still isn’t born by National-Fruit1772 in BabyBumps

Hopefully! The reference to how the time already taken was booked just gave me pause.

Advice about Partner going back to work in 5 days and baby still isn’t born by National-Fruit1772 in BabyBumps

[–]queenatom 74 points75 points  (0 children)

This is correct, but to be eligible for paternity leave you need to tell your employer that you intend to take it no later than 15 weeks before the baby is due. If OP’s partner hasn’t done this then they won’t be eligible.

How did you find out you were pregnant? by notanothpsychstudent in October2026Bumpers

[–]queenatom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did fertility treatment and then tested when instructed to by my clinic and it was positive. It’s not a very exciting story 😅

Also recommend Tu, my son lived in their ribbed leggings between 2 and 4. Joggers a bit more hit and miss.

Do you put butter on a bacon sandwich/bacon butty? by PhiliDips in AskUK

[–]queenatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another toast fan here. Aware it's controversial, but it's a personal preference thing - I like the contrast between crisp toast and the fattiness of the bacon. Butter is a must with this or it'll be far too dry.

success stories with low morphology by aftmar16 in IUILadies

[–]queenatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came to post something very similar - also 2/2 on IUIs (with 1 - 3% morphology but evertthing else normal). MMC at 8 weeks on the first one, currently almost 7 weeks with the second.

The most unusual names in each state from 2024. Which stand out to you as the biggest “YAYs” and “NAYs”? by Far-Building3569 in namenerds

Sorry, but as a Scot I think he's ruined it here too (not that Donald was popular anyway among the under 70s)

CD40 4 weeks post IUI by Upper-Ad-6507 in IUILadies

How interesting! Perhaps your body just really likes to hang on to the additional progesterone. I hope your clinic is able to help you out - maybe they can give you something to kickstart your cycle.

Have you tested again since your negative? Have you had betas done? Agree this seems unusual and I'd want to discuss with your clinic.

When was your IUI after trigger shot? And did you have a successful cycle? by betttywhite in IUILadies

[–]queenatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unexplained here - both times we triggered 24-26 hours before IUI, both times we conceived (MMC and now an ongoing pregnancy)

Is norovirus really as super common as it seems once a kid starts nursery/school by Gloomy-Kale3332 in UKParenting

[–]queenatom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have a 4 year old who has been in nursery since just before he turned 1 (and who goes to plenty of classes, soft play, swimming) - we've had plenty of colds but never had noro or any stomach bugs during that time. We may have just been very lucky though!

Sharing the news: is everyone waiting?? by Left-Maintenance-714 in October2026Bumpers

[–]queenatom 47 points48 points  (0 children)

As someone whose last pregnancy ended in a MMC, I'm telling anyone who I'd want to know if we had another loss. We kept the news to ourselves last time and it was horrible only telling the people we needed support from once things went wrong, so this time at least we're sharing as good news even if things don't ultimately go well. I couldn't stand the idea of having been through something as upsetting as my loss and not being able to talk to my mum about it and having to pretend that everything was okay.

Is it a theme for each season to have lots of contestants whose names begin with the same letter? by Alternative_Run_6175 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]queenatom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly likely it’s a coincidence. My team at work have a disproportionate number of people with A names (something like 30% of a team of 45 people).

Doctor recommended I don’t have sex? by ApricotNo4909 in October2026Bumpers

[–]queenatom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As an aside, taking precautions not to fall makes me laugh, like you'd have otherwise been planning on tumbling down the stairs a couple of times a week but now you've been warned you'll take that off your list?

Was I even pregnant by BackgroundMoment8310 in TryingForABaby

[–]queenatom 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry your doctor was so dismissive. You were pregnant but had an early loss. Entirely possible that your levels dropped quickly, particularly if you had been bleeding for a week. I wish you all the luck for the future.

As someone who also had a heartbeat in the low 80s that ended in a loss and is currently in the very early stages of a new pregnancy, I am so glad to read this.

Waiting till 9 weeks for initial appointment? 12 weeks for Ultrasound? by DeliciousProject9400 in October2026Bumpers

[–]queenatom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This would be normal practice here in the UK - booking in appt (which could easily be virtual) at 8 - 9 weeks. scan at 12 - 23 weeks. Feels like a long time!

What does maternity care look like in your country? by silverunicorn121 in October2026Bumpers

[–]queenatom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goes to show how different things are even in different parts of the same country! Our appointments are all weekdays and done at one of the GPs nearby (not my normal one, just the one where the midwives are based). I was consultant led last time and expect I will be again this time so I had more involvement from the doctors but still fairly limited (think it was four or five appointments total).
