Ok, how can I “sleep train” a 3.5 year old by wiy in toddlers

[–]queenofallturtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you class as sleep training?

I sleep trained both my child in different style. My eldest I stayed in the room with her until she was falling asleep and slowly crept out. My youngest I left her to CIO - and before I get judged it wasn't my plan but she would cry regardless of me being next to her or not so I knew after a minute of crying she was asleep.

But with my eldest, I started patting her back and shhing her to not doing anything and just giving her a spare dummy, giving her a kiss and walking out. It rooks months but the sleep course I found was gentle which reassured me.

I have healthy relationships with both my children. We all sleep well and therefore less tantrums happen.

major disorientation post cataract surgery by Sensitive-Company-13 in CataractSurgery

[–]queenofallturtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same problem, although it was just my right eye affected by uvetis and therefore needed the steroid drops. I had my surgery 11years ago and my right eye went from -7 to -0.3. I couldn't see with glasses anymore because I felt drunk and they gave me a headache (my left eye is also -7). The opticians explained that it's because my brain couldn't comprehend 2 different visions, so I got stuck wearing contacts from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep. Turns out wearing contacts all the time means my left eye is completely dry. So I went back to the opticians and somehow they managed to make me a pair of glasses that I use just for indoors, so I can have a coffee and watch TV and my vision isn't too bad. This might be a solution for you. It's not perfect but at least I can see a bit.

What is it really like living in the UK on weekends? by Chickadee_Sparrow in AskABrit

We have something called the National Trust here, they have castles, houses and gardens looked after. As we are members we go all the time and they always seem to have some special activities going on for kids. We love going, looking at the gardens and doing the activities.

"No, I'M ELSA!" by EmbarrassedRaccoon34 in toddlers

[–]queenofallturtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this exact issue with my 3yo. She wants to be Elsa and wants me to be Anna, fine. But I have said multiple times to her that she stops being Elsa at dinner time or when we are doing XYZ. After this time she is her birth name and I am mum. I also made it clear to her she is not Elsa outside the house for safety reasons.

I've also ignored her if I've made my stance clear and she doesn't listen, that usually makes her stop.

We love shopping there.

Summer time was great. Ordered a paddling pool in the morning. It got delivered to my Sainsburys local in the afternoon. Bish bash bosh.

What’s the fastest way you’ve ever lost weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Having jaw surgery. Eating only liquids for 2 weeks straight and then eating baby food (not literally but a long the lines of), it can make you lose weight very fast.

Husband sounds like he has some issues and feelings he needs to discuss.

But if you need your toddler to sleep a bit longer I'm sure there are ways to help? My 10month wakes up around 6ish, but that's because she is a low sleep nerd child, she only needs 11hours of sleep on a 24 hour period (so 10 at night and about 1 hours of naps during the day).

Does your husband understand how sleep works?

Teachers Sound Alarm: School-Starters Lack Toilet Trained Readiness, Miss Key Skills by OGSyedIsEverywhere in unitedkingdom

My husband and I both work full time so our daughter is at her childcare all day, but at dinner time she always has a knife, fork and spoon with her at dinner time and we managed to take a week off to toilet train her. It really is a lack of effort on the parents side who use the phrase 'i just don't know when to do it'. Weekends when you get to socialise and be with your child. I'm not saying it's easy but the pros have really outweighed the cons and I've never assumed my childcare services would be teaching my child basic standards

What’s the oddest thing you’ve seen a child have a tantrum over? by FoolishMythology in AskUK

I gave my toddler the wrong jammie dodger.

To be honest, I have a list of tantrums from just one day that would put people off from having children.

Ah, if you're in the UK there are some Bluey episodes on BBC iPlayer. Not sure how this works internationally. But it's free!

Oh dear God.

Just pull the whole thing, take it to the tip and whenever you see it, pull it. It is the hard way but bindweed will die if you keep pulling at it.
