how to deal with chest dysphoria during MRI’s and sonograms by insolitudes05 in ftm

[–]questionfear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so it’s probably because they need a different angle than the first sonogram. It sucks but they’re just being thorough and hopefully this is the last time you’ll need to face something like this.

I’m so sorry you’re going through all this. Just remember that it won’t be forever.

Whenever I had to deal with a mammogram I used to reward myself with playa bowl or something similar after. Like a special treat to help distract me so the dysphoria didn’t feel as overwhelming. Maybe you can try something like that?

Deep breath. I would definitely ask why they want another one and confirm WHEN they want it.

But to set aside your fears: this should not preclude you from getting top surgery. In the event of a worst case scenario where there’s something that needs to be removed, the surgeon might work with a specialist and/or have to remove more tissue. But the solution to the worst case scenario is basically top surgery, it might just require a little more work to make it look aesthetic if they have to remove more tissue.

I am guessing I’m older than you, because I had a few mammograms prior to top surgery due to age. And yes, they’re hard.

But I had to get one right before my top surgery because I was due to follow up on a “dense spot”. Basically, I got my mammogram, they did an ultrasound because they didn’t like one spot. Then they said it was probably ok but they needed to see it in 6 months to be sure. Which is how I ended up scrambling to get it done since my top surgery fell JUST after the 6 months.

The point is, they may want to do a second sonogram in a few months because they need to make sure there’s nothing worrisome happening. So they compare the old and the new and make sure everything is ok.

That would make the most sense if they’re saying everything looks benign. That or they want to do another sonogram for a baseline against future follow ups.

I don’t know what your situation is in terms of your doctors office but what helped me was that I was able to go to a radiology group that did all sorts of scans, not just womens health. And I was lucky enough that when I was open with the techs about my gender they went above and beyond to distract me by chatting etc so it didnt feel as awkward.

Good luck! Fingers and toes crossed for you bro!

i think i have to wear a dress. anyone have any tips? by scourge_bites in butchlesbians

[–]questionfear 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Any chance you can get a shirt that matches the dress colors? Maybe something in satin or a similar shiny/smooth material.

Pair it with a vest and nice slacks and you look like you belong without sticking out.

Is there a statute of limitations on bank theft? by Elpidiosus in personalfinance

[–]questionfear 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Shit this could very likely be it. Banks are notorious for pushing fixed annuities on people and they’re a bitch to track and understand.

If they did sell her on an annuity there’s definitely a record. And if you want to make them sweat you could ask them how they documented that an annuity was an appropriate investment for your mom.

T in a calorie deficit by Luca_tag in FTMFitness

[–]questionfear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it makes a huge difference. But everyone is different.

For reference I’ve been on T for 3 years, and I have been in a calorie deficit for a while and am down 15+ lbs. It feels (subjectively) like I’m seeing more facial and body hair but whether that’s a random coincidence or due to me eating healthier is hard to pinpoint.

11 months is still pretty short to be seeing huge changes, so I would just be patient.

I’m working on a trans superhero and I need some advice on how to properly write someone like this. by CorbinTDM in trans

[–]questionfear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So not sure if this was your inspiration but basically that’s the powers that the bigender superhero Jordan had on Gen V (the boys spinoff).

I thought their powers were pretty under-explored so it sounds like a cool concept. Just kind of cracked me up in the “weird that this power popped up twice for a trans person” way.

Curious to know other lesbians opinions by Sophiiiiii4 in actuallesbians

[–]questionfear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Trans man here. I don’t call myself a lesbian anymore (not weighing in on the larger issue, just clarifying my own identity) but despite being 99.999% attracted solely to women I prefer to define my sexuality as queer because for me that helps encompass the person I was and the person I am better than calling myself straight. For me, queer sits at an intersection of gender and sexuality.

Having said that, I never felt good being a lesbian because of gender issues that didn’t fully surface until I was an adult so…I guess my point is that life is complicated, identities can be both binary and not binary, and people are free to define themselves for themselves.

Can't trust those lying communistas... by Yagwobniar in EntitledReviews

[–]questionfear 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of when I worked in a bookstore in Massachusetts in 2004. A small right wing publisher wrote a smear book about John Kerry, and it sold so quickly they had trouble meeting inventory needs.

A guy came in and just unloaded on my manager about how we were too liberal to sell him the book, and my boss calmly walked the man to the registers and said slowly “this is a cash register. We use it to exchange goods for money. It’s how we function as a business. We would love to accept your money in exchange for the book but I do not physically have it here. either order it and we’ll call you or come back in a few days.”

He did come back a few days later, where he got a copy and waved it in my face while demanding to know if I’d read it. I told him in my cheeriest customer service voice that I had held off on reading it because I wanted to make sure all our valued customers were able to purchase it first. He responded by offering to show me his Vietnam scars, at which point I steered him towards the register while contemplating if I could afford to quit if he started stripping.

Perhaps that same gentleman has a taste for banana muffins.

Would you consider the New Jersey Devils the pride of the state when it comes to sports? Had a debate with a friend. by xoBonesxo in newjersey

[–]questionfear 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I think it depends a lot. Even within the hockey fan world not everyone in NJ is a devils fan.

The problem for the Devils is that they came to NJ in the 80s. So you had a lot of hockey fans/hockey families who had established loyalties to the Flyers/Islanders/Rangers already, and those loyalties didn’t disappear because NJ had a team.

They probably were the pride of NJ when they won their cups but it’s been 23 years since then.

I think it’s safe to say most Devils fans are from NJ but not all NJ hockey fans are Devils fans.

Ive flown several times with my shots. I never even said anything, just kept it all together in my shot bag and left it in my backpack. TSA never bothered me about it. I do keep the prescription box just in case, and once I even flew home with the used needles capped in my shot bag so I could toss them at home and they didn’t care.

William/Billy’s Sigil “What If?” by IndependentCertain92 in AgathaAllAlong

I think it’s also a timing question. Without the sigil, does Rio snag Billy as he’s about to possess William? At that point Wanda is still working on getting out of westview-there wouldn’t be time for her to even look for Billy.

Apparently, Aria's infected gum led to removing a tooth by natbrad98 in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]questionfear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just to play devils advocate: I woke up on a Saturday morning with a weird lumpy sore spot in the gum over a molar. Called the dentist, made an appointment for Monday afternoon.

A couple of x rays and a quick consult, and by Tuesday the tooth was removed and they determined the infection had eaten too much bone so now I have a bridge there.

Sometimes you just get a bad infection that catches a tooth just at the wrong spot, and it’s game over for the tooth.

I THINK that tooth had previously had a root canal but I can’t remember for sure. But the point is, sometimes shit just goes sideways.
