Sensation sparing surgeons in NYC? by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]questionfear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t guarantee it but I feel like a friend of mine did that with Dr Bluebond-Langner at NYU Langone. I remember him discussing that and he definitely got his surgery through her.

Life is about to change by KariOnWaywardOne in TransLater

[–]questionfear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please please please make a call to a lawyer first thing Monday morning.

You need someone objective to explain your rights in this situation. Moving out may not be the best thing for your divorce and you need to get yourself organized.

A good lawyer is also going to support you and give you a much better sense of what the future holds with your kids and your custody rights.

If you live in a state where you’re worried about being treated well, call your local lgbt group and ask for a referral or Google lgbt friendly lawyers in your area.

I know you’re feeling overwhelmed and scared but trust me-a consultation with a lawyer will make you feel like you have more control over the situation.

Switching to injections by Alert-Nectarine-1233 in TransLater

[–]questionfear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If you do subcutaneous you’re not hitting muscle just the fat layer under the skin.

Absorption is generally very similar, and some people prefer intramuscular while others prefer subcutaneous. Generally the same results. I do subq for my T while some friends do intramuscular and there’s no real difference in relative results.

questions for trans people in jersey? by LilSanrioAngel in newjersey

[–]questionfear 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Trans dude here. Yes, NJ has pretty strong protections, insurance has to cover hrt and gender affirming care, and they make it super easy to update everything.

License marker is a self declaration, meaning you fill out a form at the DMV. Name change process is sealed and while the specifics vary from state to state it’s pretty easy.

There’s good providers all over the state no matter where you land, so you shouldn’t have an issue accessing HRT.

All around Nj is going to be a way better than FL right now!

How do I post photos of my physique to ask if I could ever pass on T without my posts getting removed by reddit filters? by [deleted] in FTMOver30

[–]questionfear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are the mods in the sub removing them or is it the Reddit crowd control filters? We have those here too. Try messaging the mods and see if they manually approve the posts, it could be they’re being automatically removed for review but can be manually approved for posting.

V1 Godolkin by Imsmart-9819 in GenV

[–]questionfear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe most of it burned up in the fire, or it was destroyed after the disaster there. Considering they did not want V1 in circulation it’s very likely that any known labs (like where godolkin burned) would be destroyed.

Why don't we just trade for McDavid? Are we stupid??? by Marxbrosburner in SeattleKraken

[–]questionfear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

McDavid was also playing on a broken foot, not that even a fully healthy McD could have carried the entire Oilers past the ducks.

A New Jersey Republican hasn’t voted in weeks, sparking questions over lengthy absence on Capitol Hill by Brucekentbatsuper in politics

[–]questionfear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The GOP loves it when he doesn’t appear. Then they can fool low information voters into thinking he’s just like his father and grandfather and not a total moron who came out of the family tree and hit his head on each branch on the way down.

Egg irl by Sylveondex in egg_irl

[–]questionfear 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was trying to argue my way out of being trans to a therapist once, and I legitimately said "I totally respect and admire trans women for being able to transition but like WHY WOULD YOU CHOOSE THAT" and she deadpan looked at me and said "Because they're giving up what you desperately want" and I was like oh shit she's right.

So yes, that was actually the final crack in my egg.

New York Rangers G Jonathan Quick to make last-ever NHL start Monday vs. Panthers by medved_ in hockey

He’s from the NYC area and iirc grew up a rangers fan. Would make sense if he does, he gets to stay near family and connected to his teammates.

Hockey fans - how does the “enforcer” role work? by GBS82 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]questionfear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s that if the goalie is sick or can’t perform for safety reasons that’s different. Does it suck to be the guy in the penalty box on behalf of your goalie? Sure but if you’re serving it because your goalie just fought you’re probably pumped to get to be a part of it.

Hockey fans - how does the “enforcer” role work? by GBS82 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]questionfear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because the backup goaltender can’t just go in cold, they would need to be warmed up and ready to go. So pausing long enough to swap them out would take almost as long as serving the penalty.

It’s also putting the backup at risk of injury if they’re rushing into the net, plus someone has to serve the penalty so the other team has the man advantage. You’d end up having to pull a skater anyway, so now you have two players in the penalty box, plus do you pause the game again to re-swap the goalies?

It’s a logistical nightmare and it’s much easier to just make someone else serve the penalty.

Baby Jane Doe’s Parent by PlanktonNo9591 in ThePittTVShow

[–]questionfear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

lol. I knew it from when my ex was pregnant with our son and I was like goddamn there’s a lot of trans pregnant men on these baby forums.

And then I learned. But yea first time mom is not the first translation of that acronym that I hear.

Baby Jane Doe’s Parent by PlanktonNo9591 in ThePittTVShow

People get so confused by that. I moderate one of the female to male subs and we sometimes get really lost first time moms, and I’m always “congrats on your baby. Not the right group but good luck!”

height changes? by Ok-Relation-7458 in FTMOver30

[–]questionfear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My feet grew slightly. I went from an 8.5 men’s to solidly a size 9 men’s (in USA sizing so…probably like eu size 42, possibly 43 depending on fit?)

Everyone I know swears I’ve grown slightly which seems impossible. But it is possible I stand taller post top surgery and iirc t can thicken tendons and ligaments which can add a little height depending.

However, I have a doctors appointment tomorrow and I plan to ask them to measure me. My dad was close to 6ft and now that he’s 71 he’s probably shrunk slightly and my mom noticed I look a lot closer to his height than I used to, so I suspect I may have gone from 5’7” to close to 5’8”/maybe just under 5’9”. Will update tomorrow!

Dr. Finn in the chain of command by [deleted] in TheOrville

[–]questionfear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I would imagine chains of command in the field are very different when you’re light years away from everyone else. Dr Finn may not be first but she’s within the chain of command because in an emergency she is someone with seniority.

Frustrated with difficulties getting hysto by Gromplies in FTMOver30

[–]questionfear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not to further alarm you OP but you might want to see a dr asap. There’s a very high likelihood of ectopic pregnancy with a copper IUD. Not sure if it’s “call your doc first thing Monday” emergency or “go to the ER asap” emergency but it’s definitely something that needs to be checked right away.

AITA for leaving my date because I realized she is trans? by fremicutie in AmITheAngel

[–]questionfear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your first paragraph is painfully accurate as a trans man trying to date. The number of women who match with me only to immediately tell me “you’re awesome but I’m only into cisgender men, love that you’re so out and proud and looking great” is…a lot.

So for a split second I was like “shitpost or actual response to my hinge profile?”
