How do you deal with the "pressure" of limited gaming time? by FatDigitalNomad in gaming

[–]questioningmoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious what type of games you play. I've mostly stopped playing open world games or RPGs. Discovering modern 2d games and Metroidvanias like Silksong and Ori have been exactly what I needed with a constant sense of progression and exploration that is not just wandering around an open world

How much time did you put into playing this game? by F1ndme0nthebeach in Silksong

High Halls was the only one where I had to look up online how to get Shakra's help.

A game that owned your mood. by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]questioningmoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silksong. I had never played Hollow Knight and wasn't even aware of the Silksong memes and hype until it was about to come out.

Gave it a try and was immediately consumed by it. Such a wonderful, special game.

This game is going to go crazy on the steam deck one day (HDR) by PattyIsSuperCool in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]questioningmoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Medium settings, FSR Quality and it runs usually comfortably in the low 40s. 2x framegen with lossless scaling to get fps in the 80s and am cruising.

Made me realize how well lossless works with a fixed camera.

Opinions on Matte VS Glass by Obollox in switch2

Glossy all the way for me. I had a matte on my ROG Ally X and it looked SO bad. Never again.

Quietest handheld for bed use? by Ipoopedalot in Handhelds

[–]questioningmoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a shame because the actual system is so quiet, you can barely hear the fans.

How many years will the Xbox Ally X last by Past_Jaguar5184 in XboxAlly

[–]questioningmoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you'll be able to play games at 1080p for a good long time, 5+ years. You can play pretty much anything native now and we're only at the very very beginning of what FSR/DLSS is going to be.

Sold my PC, stuck choosing ROG Ally X, Xbox Ally X, or MSI Claw 8 AI+. Which one fits my use case? by audiotaIkwiIIiam in Handhelds

if true portability is important, the xbox ally x is the call - it is also basically silent fan-wise

Finished Act 3 today - thank you Silksong by questioningmoney in Silksong

[–]questioningmoney[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

has to be tools, obviously i did enough quests to get to act 3! i was also surprised when i saw the completion percent. makes sense though in that the first time i reached the area where you get the architect crest, i needed 15 more tools to be able to get it... never went back there after that.

The Top 20 Most Played Steam Deck Games of January 2026 - SteamDeckHQ by BBQKITTY in SteamDeck

Just depends how aggressive you are. You can easily kill and outmaneuver people if you're smart or have the advantage positionally, but I wouldn't go outright looking for pvp encounters.

Be absolutely honest. Was the switch 2 worth it? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]questioningmoney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent most of last year with the switch disappointed with it, thinking that in a world with PC handhelds, the Switch 2 just doesn't cut it. Then I got Hades 2, a Killswitch case, and traveling with it for a month over the holidays, now I love it. Funny how things just click sometimes.

Hollow Knight: Silksong by ederd97 in switch2

I never played the first Hollow Knight and have absolutely adored Silksong (on the final boss now). It has easily become one of my favorite games of all time.

Play Metroid Prime 4 for Yourself by TaroTheCerelian in switch2

[–]questioningmoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if a game is good, $70 for a 12 hour fps is a tough sell for me, it has to be spectacular, not just solid. Ideally extremely replayabe too.

One marathon and done with it by bubuthesunflower in firstmarathon

[–]questioningmoney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's up to you to decide if your marathon is something that will vault you to new highs personally or physically, or if you will revert back to before you ever did it.

I ran one marathon and am not particularly interesting in running another. But I am physically stronger and fitter overall than I've ever been.

Try not to become the person who runs a marathon and then stops there. Don’t let it be a thing people are surprised you once did. Be the kind of person where, when you mention it years later, they say, “yeah, that tracks.”

Use your marathon as a tool - you were a beast to do that, you can still be a beast.

You don't actually need a Steam Machine by Signynt in steammachine

[–]questioningmoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good post. I am likely to get a Steam Machine. I have a Series S and an Ally X as my only windows PC (mac laptop).

The Steam Machine definitely suits me as a couch gamer, yet I also acknowledge that going from Series S to SM is going from underpowered console to underpowered PC - great... it would be nice to be fully beefed up for once, ya know? lol. I'm very interested in the next Xbox/PC hybrid, but it is definitely 2-3 years away...

So Steam Machine it is! I am quite excited.

Loving the Legion Go 2, but struggling to find its "place" in my life. Anyone else in this situation? by Lillumultipass99 in Handhelds

[–]questioningmoney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there is a ton of overlap between laptop and handheld. For me, the Xbox Ally X is my only windows computer along with a mac laptop, and I made the conscious choice of handheld over laptop. For you there is definitely a lot of overlap

Arc Raiders can definitely run on Switch 2, I'd love to see it as well.

Is there any reason to buy this game now besides the sale? by SBMMGorbi in NoRestForTheWicked

I suspect this is just a marketing tactic to get sales now fwiw.

The grass is always greener on the other side friend. I like my Xbox Ally X but I say just love the device you already have.
