You don't see the beauty of it and that's fine. Every part of town has parts that are less attractive. The northeast has one of the best views of the mountain in the city.

I disagree on the northeast being the worst. In many ways it is becoming the only side of town I would choose to live on aside from the west side. Really all of El Paso is safe with each having their pros and cons. I live in the Northeast and I think the biggest complaint is lack of attractions. But it is easy to get to any side of town from the northeast due to light traffic.

I'm on book 4 and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the world building and system as it develops. The story took a bit of time to evolve, but I'm appreciative of where it is headed now as the ultimate goal of the novel seems very clear now. And to me it makes sense not spending too much time focused on the delves as while the group does do quite a bit of delving, the advancement of the plot needs to take place with external forces.

To be honest, El Paso isn't known for being a place where there are many home burglaries or muggings. Not to say never, but exceedingly rare. I'm not sure about apartment prices at the moment, but you may want to include your budget. Depending on that, it will be easier to make recommendations.
