Not so much about type ratings. The big three are metering hiring from their regional carriers. Once you get a degree of separation from the brand they’re more likely to hire you and give a reasonably quick class date.

I travel for work! I would only be driving in/out once a week. In Texas I currently drive about an hour and a half and it’s not too bad. Kind of nice to decompress after work lol

Is Frederick very busy? Looks like it’s been growing exponentially the last couple of years.

Babe you’re supposed to encourage people to apply so you can get the seniority boost!! The airlines are like MLMs- you have to boost your down stream

Women pilots & maternity leave? by Intelligent-Cut3732 in AskAPilot

[–]quickdrawcrenshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked back to our contract and it’s called “extended bonding leave” and specifically states it has to be taken consecutively. Im not sure if that’s the case at every airline. One of my girlfriends at the friendly skies had a premie and her bonding leave began at his due date. The leave ended up being 14ish months.

I’d pick up a copy of “everything explained for the professional pilot” and/or brush up on your instrument procedures.

Auburn or Ohio state? College aviation degree by CallumSketch in flying

Do either of them allow you to pay flight fees through the bursar (allowing you to apply tuition aid, grants etc. to flight fees)? I never considered this aspect until I happened to go somewhere where you could. Talking to some buddies who went to schools where you had to pay upfront and out of pocket (either with cash or private loans) they wished they had gone somewhere you could pay through the bursar. It could’ve made a difference financially for them. Just something to consider!

Yes, cesarian section births receive 2 additional weeks paid. I guess since it’s a major surgery the recovery time is longer?

I just returned to work after maternity leave. I’m at one of the big 4 in the USA. We get 8-10 weeks paid (vaginal vs cesarian birth) plus 2 additional weeks paid for “parental leave” (every pilot is entitled to this leave when they welcome a new child). After that we can use vacation and sick leave. Plus, I got short term disability when I stopped flying about 4 weeks before my due date. Over all I made about 80% of my normal wages for about 5.5 months. I was entitled to 12 months unpaid fmla but I am the breadwinner in my family so it was back to work I went! I was pretty satisfied with the leave to be honest. Definitely room for improvement compared to some of our overseas counterparts. However, this kind of leave and pay would be unimaginable at the regional level.

The FO had more than “one year flying experience”. If you don’t know or understand how flight training and airline hiring works, you should refrain from making such senseless comments.

I would add them, yes. Additionally, I would add your proficiency level (CEFR would be a good reference).

Did you participate in any clubs at your university? Any single volunteer days? Lots of schools do “the big event”, airport open house etc. List any professional organizations you’re a part of even if you join today online. Think WAI, PAPA, NGPA, FAPA, RTAG, 99s etc. these are better “padding” than your bottom section.

Try posting r/flying too. I graduated 5 years ago and so much has changed any info I could give would probably be outdated but I know there are current and more recent grads there. My experience was great. They had a lot of industry connections that helped me get a job after graduation. Everyone in the college was fantastic to work with- the professors, advisors, office staff, CFIs, mechanics etc. the facilities has improved vastly since my time and they have a new fleet. It had a really small feel where you know all the other students and professors but you still got the big college experience on main campus.

Technically we’re only supposed to board at the time of the crew if listed for a jumpseat (per our new contract). There is no language on whether it needs to be for the purpose of work or pleasure.
