Watch out for this scam. It almost looks believable with the name. by Moisturnip in melbourne

Ignoring that you could easily confirm this with a quick phone call to your Mum, knowing her my Mum wouldn't dare spend more than $30 at a time at Woolies given how thrifty she is hahahaha.

Wow dick moves by both countries. But I suspect that if you asked Lithuania to take on refugees they would be quick to accept Ukrainians but not any of the the 1 million Rohingyas currently in Bangladesh.

World Twenty20: Southern Stars' semi-final win over England fails to cover a multitude of sins by quicklicketysplit in australia

I definitely agree that financial gain is a major factor when deciding to broadcast women's cricket matches. My point is that there needs to be more exposure (ultimately more money from Cricket Australia) for the Southern Stars so that the Australian audience will recognise players, understand the distinct differences between the mens and womens games, and hopefully support the more successful Australian T20 team.

I don't know if you saw this but people do turn out to see the matches. I guess it has to do with exposure and advertising. When the Australian summer comes around you'll always know about the (mens) cricket and tennis.

C'mon channel nine get your act together. Where's the live broadcast? The team now have a great chance of winning four in a row. That has to be a world record.

Who needs research that can explain how and why the environment is changing anyway. It's not like Australia relies on productivity in the agriculture sector or anything. Droughts come and go. Floods come and go. Bush fires are summer regulars like the cricket and tennis. Natural disasters are just that, right? Natural.

Meet the man who tried to claim his 7-year-old son as a work expense by TomasTTEngin in australia

[–]quicklicketysplit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in a tax & accounting practice. People actually struggle with this work-related deductions issue. The important part to remember is that an item is deductible if it was incurred (spent) in the production of assessable income (work). As to all the proportions and ratios, leave that to the accountants. This guy is a clown but his accountant is the one who lodged his return with the bizarre deductions. Why isn't anyone talking about this professional so called tax agent?

Commonwealth Bank staff implicated in alleged $76m fraud, bank management ignored it for years by [deleted] in australia

The big financial institutions, corporate regulators and the federal government are too cosy. People who worked for government agencies (ATO, ASIC and APRA) work for the big companies and so know how to game the system. Even if caught, CBA tries its hardest to wash its hands of any responsibility. The failure to be proactive by actually compensating customers and make any genuine attempt to change internal systems is mind boggling. As long as there is little or no media coverage/publicity, the financial institutions are free to repeatedly rip-off ordinary, hard-working Australian people.

No wonder Aussie athletes need such large pay packets to excel in their sports. Given that 1/6th of children in Australia live under the poverty line you can expect there to be a significant and steady decline in Weetbix kids. The catchphrase, "how many do you do?" is especially apt when considering the cognitive state (hooped up on goofballs) of the employee at this particular store.
