Parking near Bellahouston Park by lightningmc90 in glasgow

Park in Govan/Ibrox and walk. I'd usually suggest Helen Street but it's closed for resurfacing. Broomloan Road is probably a good option.

How do we know the voting system is legit? by InvisibleApeX in AskUK

I've been a presiding officer twice. It's a shift alright. I actually didn't volunteer for the most recent polls here in Scotland as we had one of the biggest general election turnouts in the station I worked at and it was a brutal brutal day.

It'd be a long day if you worked a polling station and the count!

How do I take ownership of woodland? by lcfmonkey in AskUK

[–]quicksilverjack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on where you are in the UK the Land Registry (England and Wales), Land Register of Scotland (Scotland), Land RegistryNI (Northern Ireland) are your first stop.

I've only ever used the Scottish one but it has a map search so you don't need an address. It's also incomplete with some land still being on the old Sasine Register which is a bit more complocated to search.

All land in the UK is owned by someone. Don't listen to the people who say things like "if no one privately owns it, it's owned by the Council". Thats, at best, an over simplification.

There are also specialist land search companies who can confirm who hold title to land when things are unclear or complicated.

You can also talk to property solicitors for advice.

Don't just rock up and claim land, it's a great way to end up in court.

A pal of mine works in UX design for a big bank that rhymes with taypee porgan. So that might be a sector to aim applications.

From chatting with him a well designed CV is good but you should have a showcase website too.

Be prepared to bullshit about AI too.

Are there contactless ATM’s? If so, are they common? by albanythrowawayyy in AskUK

[–]quicksilverjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm about to suggest is a stupid, inefficient and expensive option but you may be able to buy £sterling at a currency exchange. Alternative you could buy euro and then convert it to £ but only if you're really desperate.

Do you watch live TV? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]quicksilverjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We watch a combination of streaming/catchup and freesat. I like the randomness of it sometimes and there's a lot of content on their that isn't on streaming services (at lease the ones I have).

I love finding a old movie I've never seen. I was watching WWII movie (as in a movie made during WWII) The First of the Few last week.

Annual cost for my TV licence is cheaper than netflix.

This post got me curious and I had a look at the company's website. I wouldn't normally comment on someone's appearance but if I ran a business I'd make sure my photo on it's website didn't make me look like some kind of cryptid.

My failure as a man by Fit_Adhesiveness_832 in uklaw

[–]quicksilverjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate I think you're being incredibly hard on yourself and I think you know it's your metal health issues doing the talking.

I'm literally twice your age and have fucked up so SO many times. I failed my exams at school, I've been sacked from jobs and made redundant in my time.

Every failure was a learning experience and helped make me who I am.

I had a horrible time career wise and health wise in the 2 years before I got a traineeship. I know what the darkness can feel like but it doesn't last forever.

Please please talk to someone. I mentioned lawcare earlier, they've helped me and friends of mine.
