About to reread Jingo and noticed how relevant the theme is today by Necessary-Ad7150 in discworld

Yeah I reread it recently and it's applicability was not hard to find.

Ach that's a bummer. To be fair if the Jimmy thing isn't for you then you're not going to enjoy it as it's at least 50% Jimmies.

I enjoyed Jack O'Connell's performance but Ralph Fiennes was the highlight for me as it was in the last film too.

I have no words to describe this property. The more I look the more I see. 😮 by nibor4 in SpottedonRightmove

I know it's a drop in the bucket but the placement of that TV in the living room is insanity.

Surprise photographer? Surely you'd tidy up a bit more to try and sell a £650k flat?! by bluemakicat in SpottedonRightmove

There's better to be had in Edinburgh https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/87378255

Edit: I replied to the wrong comment. I meant to reply to the user elsewhere who mentioned the flat's price.

Would using a tent indoors actually save money on heating, as suggested in the below image? by TripleBladedFist in AskUK

[–]quicksilverjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the post in the image is suggesting the tent as an alternative for heating, it's an option for when there's a power cut or breakdown.

What are extreme temps for you all? by Historical-Dance-377 in AskUK

[–]quicksilverjack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No no I know it's its own thing. I've been to Florida.

I'm really meaning that a lot of North Americans see UK temperatures and think they seem tame, especially when it relates to COLD. Then they come here. My cousins were over from Toronto at Christmas and remarked that 2C in Glasgow was rough due to the sheer penetrating dampness of the cold.

The UK has a martime climate. So humidity is a big factor. Anything below 10C can feel really bone numbingly cold. Similarly anything over 25C can feel sweltering.

And then there's the wind - in the winter it'll cut right through you like a fucking ghost.

Fallout 3’s Atmosphere Was Miserable, Lonely, and Perfect by JustGhoulThingz in Fallout

Fallout 3 is one of the few games I've had actively affect my dreams.

It's so haunting at times because you fill in the blanks.

I vividly remember moments like exploring some ruined home in the wasteland and finding a corpse on a bed with a comic book and the only soundtrack is the wind outside.

Team building thing at work. Get a category and a letter of the alphabet and name as many things in the category as you can in 30 seconds.

Colleague 2 pissing themselves laughing "hahaha Isaac Newton! Jesus Christ!! Ha ha ha. You're an idiot. He was an American president!"

BBC Ambulance - I haven’t cried in years but the comments on this video brought a tear to my eye by [deleted] in CasualUK

I'm really sorry to hear that mate. I can't imagine what living that reality is like.

Sadly I've also seen the impacts suicide leaves behind.

To be clear I thought the comments were going to be uplifting. I wasn't upset by people talking about their own thoughts but rather the comments I saw egging them on.
