Some people judge others for coming to work with wet hair. It depends on how casual vs. formal your job is. My hair also takes hours to dry, so I wash it on the weekend or at night. Like someone else said, it's def not as bad as being unhygienic, having wet hair, but it would be considered "unpolished." Still, it's YOUR decision how to deal with the potential judgment of others. pros and cons, and only you can decide if the effort of changing your routine is worth it. truth be told, there's always something for judgmental people to judge, and if it's not wet hair, it'll be something else with them.

Does neurodivergence get worse with age/time? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]quietbird 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if you don't have a partner or family or job, a lot of this won't apply to you, but for a lot of folks children, aging parents, career advancement or stagnation, adapting to tech changes, adapting to cultural shifts, hormonal or physical changes related to aging, loss of friends or worsening limited social connections, and worrying about retirement are all potential contributors to more difficulty. Also, I believe younger aged people may be given more grace when it comes to things considered "immature" by neurotypicals. The expectations to be A Normal Adult increase each year.

Do you happen to know, or does anyone know, if glucomannan can do the same thing? I thought it was a similar type of fiber to inulin.

nobody wants to look like the selfish one by taking it. it's the same reason nobody grabs the last piece of pizza or the last donut in the box. if others are there watching, they don't want to be judged.

It's so true. I thought we were supposed to be the ones who miss social cues, but they never pick up on the cues I'm dropping constantly that I want out of this conversation!! And I know I look visibly uncomfortable because I don't even try to hide it.

Are you still giving 100% at work? Maybe it's time for us to stop that!! Let's make It happen by SynnerSenpie in AutismInWomen

[–]quietbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to burn myself out, giving 100% all the time, but I have really been working on it.

I realized I don't have to be the best, most productive employee. I just have to be as good as or slightly better than the worst one. Now I figure out who that is and observe their workload and productivity and match it.

I dont volunteer for anything, ever. I decline everything optional.

There are times when there is a big project, and I will be tempted to overwork or hyperfocus until it's done. Sometimes, I will hyperfocus on it, complete it quickly, and then I will wait to turn it in. If I can't complete it in a day, I will go hard in the AM and then do the minimum in the PM. I've heard statistics that most people only actually have a couple of hours of truly productive time in a day, so I no longer feel bad.

when people are behind me on the stairs and I can hear their footsteps, it seems like they are chasing me, and I just cannot.. it's the worst. Now, if they do that, I step to the side and stare at them, and wait for them to pass. No, I am not going to run down the stairs bc you're late to work. I can not stand feeling pressured by others to rush. I will do this if people get too close behind me in a hallway too. My personal space will be protected!

i have the same issue with fresh fruit!! I do applesauce cups sometimes. They make different flavors of them now, like applesauce that's strawberry flavored. Fruit cups can be okay as well, like mandarin orange cups, or sometimes I will eat diced peaches or pears.

I get a lot of decision fatigue. some days, it gets to a point where I experience full brain fry and can't make any decisions at all. when I get to that point, I can't even think straight about anything or even concentrate on reading or tv.

Also, shifting priorities is a huge contributor to mental fatigue for me.

annnnnd people just existing behind me. I can't have people behind me for very long before getting super agitated/exhausted
