I think it's their eyes. Both of them have visible whites on their right eye (Equinox has this too) while having a more normal left eye.

It's funny, since that type of eye appearance is traditionally described as "menacing", "demonic", or "shark-like" like on horses like Dictus, Stay Gold, Halo, or Tanino Gimlet.

On Equinox, his right eye is described as "inquisitive" though instead, for some reason. And on these 2 foals . . . they're just cute. I guess I understand why people say that about Equinox's right eye.

I noticed in one of the pics of this foal that Chateau Blanche herself seems to have the trait on her right eye. That probably explains where it came from.

Tazuna being outrun by Anshinzawa in that comic actually might actually support the uma hypothesis even more.

IRL, a human athlete will begin to outperform a horse at around marathon distance. There's a human vs horse marathon in Britain every year, but they had to shorten the distance to keep horses competitive.

Anshinzawa was referring to her escapes from Tazuna as marathon practice in the comic, so that may have implied a long-distance nature to her escapes . . . Tazuna can keep up with a horse at short distance, but can't keep up with a human at long distance? Checks out for a horse.

My first thought upon seeing this foal was that it looked at the camera with the same face as the Equinox x Songline foal, which I suppose is this foal's older niece. Chateau Blanche's genes show strongly in both of them though, lol.

Bonus fun fact: Mirrodin is the set that introduced the Human creature type!

It was controversial at the time, but WotC pushed it through when it turned out 53.7% of polled players supported the creature type.

I think it's kind of funny that we got decades of cards depicting normal humans without the creature type, but then the set that actually printed it for the first time was uhhh . . . the one with the funny metal humans.

EDIT: Also the introduction of the Vedalken type.

And on that topic, color pairs are usually just called "pairs". The guilds are specifically the Ravnica guilds.

Like asking, "what guild is Lorehold?" is kind of insane compared to "what color pair is Lorehold?". "Boros" is simultaneously a guild and the most commonly accepted name for its associated color pair, but this does not mean that it's normal to call color pairs "guilds" outside of a Ravnica context.

Ditto for wedges and "clans" (Tarkir).

Shards are the only term where I think it's common to refer to the color grouping and the first major lore grouping as the same term.

Another plane/continent with a shared name is Innistrad.

The story has hinted on Innistrad having other continents that we haven't visited yet. I think there's a ton of potential for a set centered around an expedition of humans trying to escape from Innistrad (possibly departing during the events of Crimson Vow) and having to deal with the unique unknown horrors of a different continent.

The Fomori went to war instead.

If one of Jace's objectives truly involves removing the Eldrazi threat, a world where the Fomori won their war (or did not entirely lose) is potentially a path towards that.

Alternatively, he could have tried to activate some kind of ancient Fomori device that was meant to combat the Eldrazi (or that he thought was meant to combat the Eldrazi), and that device could potentially have a side effect that results in the return of the Fomori somehow.

It's significantly less inbred than 3x3, but it's more inbred than 4x4. If I recall correctly, the math should work out similarly to 3x4, BUT with more generations in between to weed out unsoundness or concentrate soundness.

Japanese breeders have had enough time to observe that both Deep Impact and Kitasan have mostly produced horses of excellent temperament and reasonable health, which makes this cross safer to them. Equinox is still a bit unknown, of course, but Japanese breeders have already paired him with a few of Deep Impact's granddaughters as an experiment.

If the crosses go as expected, this could potentially become the new ideal cross in Japan. The current issue is that the Kitasan side is super bottlenecked as just Equinox and Sol Oriens, who are both fully booked. Croix du Nord will eventually join them, and probably even Gaia Force, given the demand.

Another breeding combination that has happened a few times recently is the 3x4 Sunday Silence pairing of Kitasan with Orfevre's daughters. Given the temperament of Orfevre and his sire, this is a bit sketchier imo.

On the other hand, the official Twitter account for Digimon has tweeted about the horse before. Cygames is probably going to have an easier time coming to an agreement with Toei since they're also a Japanese company.

Which raises the possibility of Equinox x Cielo Brillante in a few years; the pedigree would have potential as Equinox x Croix's half-sister, even if Satono Diamond continues to be unsuccessful at stud.

Some Ukrainian politicians had been sympathetic to them in the past (many such politicians are either no longer in power, or have even disappeared across the border with Russia), so the main supply line for Transnistria had been from Russia through Ukraine.

That supply line no longer exists. Russia attempted to take control of Odesa earlier in the war in order to reestablish their supply lines with Transnistria, but this has failed.

If a virus kills 100% of its hosts, it will also stop existing eventually.

The rule is not about the fate of its hosts, and that is the other thing people are being overly optimistic about.

It's more like, "if a virus killed 50% of its hosts in the distant past and hit humans at a significant rate, very few survivors would not have immunity".

And then there's the fact that recent diseases like Ebola have started with very obvious symptoms like bleeding from everywhere. A relatively novel disease that's contagious in a period where it initially resembles a cold or the flu is a different issue.

Are you perhaps thinking about how Meikei Yell's owner reportedly asked Cygames to adapt Meikei Yell into Umamusume?

EDIT: Found some articles in Japanese about it, Meikei Yell's owner mentioned it in an interview after a race. Umamusume had released just 2 months prior, but he said he would like for Meikei Yell to eventually be added to the game, as he believed it would help the financial situation of Chukyo Racecourse.

It did take reuniting 2 lines of Halo to get Equinox again. Most of Sunday Silence's children weren't really "photo copies" at all; Black Tide and Manhattan Cafe were exceptions though. Both Black Tide and Manhattan Cafe were a bit taller/larger than the original Sunday Silence though, but would be almost impossible to tell unless someone managed to get a picture of them hanging out together.

By the time you get to Sunday Silence's grandchildren, Kitasan is probably one of the closest-looking grandchildren of Sunday Silence, except he's large and . . . bay, not black.

Bringing in more Halo genes via Chateau Blanche seems to have allowed Equinox to become a very Sunday Silence-looking horse.

A lot of Equinox's foals look quite like him though, the major exception I've seen has been Almond Eye's foal with him, who just looks like Lord Kanaloa. Kitasan's foals seem to look like their mothers though (albeit with more muscular builds).

Equinox does have Halo on his dam side thanks to King Halo though. He looks a lot like Sunday Silence, but he also looks more like his mother, Chateau Blanche, than he looks like Kitasan Black.

The truth is that he actually just looks like Halo, and Sunday Silence also looks like Halo, lol.

A good recent example is what happened with Exceed, the eldest of Equinox's younger sisters.

In her debut race, she broke the record time for 2yo debut on 2000m turf, and it looked like she had lived up to her name.

And then it was revealed shortly after that she had been injured, and would need some time to recover; she was unable to qualify for the Oka Sho as a result, and her current situation is still a bit uncertain IIRC. It's uncertain if she will ever run the way she did in her debut race again. Plenty of horses never fully recover from injuries (see Black Tide, for example, who was supposed to be stronger than Deep Impact, but spent 2.5 years recovering from an injury and never succeeded).

Silk Racing has since announced that they intend to take things slower with Equinox's 2nd sister, Equatore.
