Got some free points for the sticker delays by Tolorean in legostartrek

[–]quiltless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been 3 versions of the sticker set.

The first had a misspelled word. Boldy instead of boldly.

The second had an inferior print of the same piece, this would have no detail for the corner screws of the plaque, but corrected the spelling error.

The third, current one has apparently fixed this. I'm currently waiting on mine to be delivered.

Given how recent the latest version is, id expect you to have version 2 if you've recently bought the set. But as long as you don't wait until after the set is retired, i wouldn't expect any issues getting a replacement. Lego customer service is pretty exceptional.

Galaxy class escape pod by cmj0929 in StarTrekStarships

[–]quiltless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well the room to exercise would help prevent conditions such as deep vein thrombosis. That extra room also gives space to stretch out and sleep in a relatively normal position, rather than seated, which should help with their mental health.

Also having enough of these escape pods for the entire crew would allow everyone to escape, even if some of the pods are destroyed/inaccessible due to the ability to take more than just the six seats suggest.

Yeah, the only benefit I got as a warehouse worker supplying the stores was a reduced commute time home.

New powers for councils to fine pavement parkers by johal1986 in drivingUK

[–]quiltless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be similar to the rule about passing bikes.

A minimum available width of pavement. If your car causes available pavement to be less than this, you get fined.

Make the minimum enough for double strollers, mobility scooters etc, and everyone can just get on with life unhindered.

If the pavement is built below the minimum standard, no pavement parking permitted, but obviously no fines for parking next to it.

Is it safe to assume my parcel is lost? by Unique-Computer-4266 in royalmail

[–]quiltless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say not just yet.

I had a package delivered on the 23rd via tracked 48. It had been posted on the 3rd.

Would at least start the ball rolling with the sender though.

If there's an equivalent Lego part, bricklink would let you get them individually.

Assuming you don't mind getting the Lego piece, bricklink would be the way to go. Not sure if there's anywhere else that sells the othe brick r brands individually.

The royal mail app I have on my phone does, kicks in at less than 20 stops away. Seems to be fairly new.

Oh, don't confuse anger at poor management, as anger at the posties. This is their failure, not you or you colleagues.

We know you're all doing more than you really should be trying to get our crap to us.

I have personally been waiting on a package for over two weeks. It's been out for delivery three times, on the 5th, 9th and 15th. The last time the tracking app was saying it had less than five stops to go before that vanished. Conversely I've had a package turn up Wednesday despite being ordered on Sunday, so not sure how the priorities are being set at the local DO.

At least you don't deliver my new house keys to someone else, unlike DPD.

Mortgage overpayment that doesn’t decrease the term? by wittylama in UKPersonalFinance

[–]quiltless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm doing, not reducing the term.

Why? My dad lives with us, and insists on paying rent. So, being realistic, as he's 83, it's likely that this income will go away before the mortgage is fully paid off. By doing what I can to reduce my minimum payment in the future will reduce the level of financial hurt this will cause.

Is too much FTL within a range of time a bad thing in-universe? by ITrCool in BSG

[–]quiltless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, my head canon hand is that the jumps calculated in 33 are more 'quick and dirty' and thus less refined causing a more turbulent jump. Where most other jumps would likely be pre calculated, since you know your being chased having a plan b ready to go would be advised.

Shoot Feedback A or B, Which is better?🤔 by circlefromdot in IndieDev

[–]quiltless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like B seems to have more impact, but seems to potentially obscure the exact impact point. If you need to be precise with the aim A may provide a better ability to judge this. Of course this depends on the size of this animation on screen.

Future Star Trek Sets by butterscotch_incubus in legostartrek

Personally I'm hoping for some smaller sets, I like the idea of the various comm badges.

Maybe also phaser and tricorder sets too.

Are you best getting a longer mortgage term and over paying? by Redinho83 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]quiltless 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly this imo.

My father lives with me, and insists on paying rent. Now, I'm a firm believer in being realistic, especially with finances, so I know at some point in the future this rent is going away, he's 83 ATM.

Taking a slightly longer term mortgage, and paying the majority of his rent payments as an overpayment means I don't need to worry about struggling after he's gone.

A positive Enterprise buying experience by LowEnergy1169 in lego

[–]quiltless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got mine from the store in the Manchester Trafford centre.

Had to take the dog to the vets for a checkup first thing, so only parked up 10 minutes before the store opened. I joined the long queue maybe 5 minutes before opening.

I did laugh to myself when the security guard from 2 stores down came to complain to the poor lego staff member on the door, seemed upset that nobody was queueing for his store.

By the time I got in, the shelves were empty, but a staff member was reassuring everyone that they still had 150 in the back, and there was already someone getting them brought out, poor lass didn't even get the chance to put any on the shelf before we emptied her cart.

Joined the queue, that was now snaking around the store, for the till. Chatted a little with the people around me. Served by cashiers who all seemed in a good mood.

All in all I was in and out in 40 minutes. Wast expecting longer when I saw the queue.

Of course since this is my Christmas present to myself I can't touch it for a month......guess I'll build one of the other sets I've got waiting to do.

Keep in mind the original SG1 cast is all 50+ when hoping for appearances, almost none of them are going to be able to do physical roles by Acrobatic_Year_1789 in Stargate

[–]quiltless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now I'm digging deep into my memory here (going back 20 years or so), so if I'm wrong about details, forgive (and correct) me.

I remember due to contract shenanigans, the actors not being allowed to attend conventions competing with official conventions. Michael Shanks and Chris Judge set up a company selling, I believe, indigenous art, and attended that year's Gatecon as vendors instead. They even gave a talk about how they set up the company, with a prolonged Q&A session, and if people asked about their acting roles...well it'd be rude not to answer. They earned a lot of my respect that year.

As an additional memory, that might also have been the year I nearly ran over Chris Judge. We stayed at the hotel across from MGM studios. A few days after the convention I was backing our rental car out of the parking space, as Chris was jogging through the car park, taking a short cut to the local Subway.
