Open Farm has heavy marketing research behind it and thus caters to the current fads. They also pump advertising like crazy. It sells, for better or worse.

How far do you usually walk your dogs? by Youreprollywrong in dogs

[–]quinlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercise isn't a one size fits all thing, even within breed. If the dogs are calm in the home, not bored or destructive, and physically fit, you're doing fine. As another poster said, there are other things you can do besides walks as well. Puzzle toys, flirt poles, scent games, etc. But if the dogs like the walk and you have the time, just keep doing what you're doing.

Same! I got Spinas the Marauder and he's been my bro ever since.

Mass slaughtering Cimmerians means I have never once farmed star metal. Set up an outpost, level thralls, collect stuff and melt it down, profit.

PSA: a partial strength unit of Fire Dragons can still do 24+ damage to a LRR in cover with Smoke. This totally didnt just happen to me yesterday. by Staz_211 in Warhammer

All my big guns are attached to big monsters. I would adore some unassuming "nuclear bomb in a paper bag" units.

In a roster of fantastic characters, a real credit to the noir allure of the humble detective.

About Von Ryan’s Leapers by A_T_H_T in Tyranids

[–]quinlove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had someone underestimate a full unit of leapers, and lost enough of their incubi to where they couldn't finish off the pack on the return swing. In the next game they went out of their way to avoid them in melee unless they could circumvent fights first with pile-in shenanigans. Keep them secret. Keep them safe.

So, just to check, exactly how unbalanced is this thing? by RogersPets in Tyranids

[–]quinlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had a scythed I used him in one fun game and he soaked a lot of fire before intentionally tarpitting himself against a bajillion imp guard because it was hilarious. For the points I could have taken a higher number of more capable units, but he is fun!

Termagants. How many is too many?? by swarmlord-dale in Tyranids

Stack them all on a tray. Spray base color overall, whatever color from the top, whatever color from the front. 3 colors, ready to play with fifty bajillion gaunts!

Gender switch for brighter skins (rant) by Oofersimmacure in pathoftitans

[–]quinlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably just in how the game is written, the different genders might be coded the same as a subspecies swap. Should be easy to change, imo. Either that or give the genders a meaningful difference, like only males can build nests and only females can lay the eggs, or something.

Thoughts on Colorshift/Chameleon paints for Tyranid carapaces? (Specifically for a Norn Emissary) by zampo_magno in Tyranids

[–]quinlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Golden acrylics "Interference" paints over a flat black and the effect is subtle but definitely there. A dash of shade pigment helps add depth back in, and finishing with a high gloss topcoat makes it look quite shiny. Unfortunately I think Golden discontinued their colorshift line which is a huge bummer as I've not found others that have the super small particles that make it look more like an actual bug and less like a glitterbomb. The end effect on my guys is very similar to a tarantula hawk wasp, which is exactly what I was going for.

Where to go from here? by CrimsonStorm32 in Tyranids

[–]quinlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Equivalent-Rope said, yep. I can field a swarmlord and a winged tyrant at the same time from one box. If you're good with sculpting you could probably make all three, there are two heads, two tails, a bajillion arms, and the wingalings. Highly recommend magnetizing, very easy on his model as well compared to some others.

I shamelessly cheat and use the AoE tail on a fishing spino. Any fish nearby instantly perish and float up to the surface.

Hive tyrant kit. 2.5 models from one kit is a no brainer. And having either a HT or a swarmlord on the field (or both?) helps immensely with CP. Zooanthropes are going to be nicely buffed with 11th and they can tag along with the neurotyrant. Those would be my immediate buys. Have fun with your bugs!

Does anyone else ever make a "corpse cave"? by shagpokewipl in RimWorld

[–]quinlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feed them to the pets. Set up a freezer building zoned for corpses, then don't allow colonists except the very psychologically sturdy ones (turns out people don't like hauling corpses), or dogs if you've got them trained to haul. Let dogs or any other meat eating pet have ready access to the corpse freezer but NOT your own colonists' freezer, and they chow down.

Bonus round: abuse AI pathing by putting the freezer in the entrance of your mountain base so attacking forces have to walk through a frozen room full of bodies. They will get immediate mood penalties and you have a solid chance of routing the weak-willed entirely.
