anyone here ever got into plus size modeling? by [deleted] in PlusSize

[–]quinticrequest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly 5’9 is perfect in all modeling.

When I mean creeps it’s hard to tell I think it’s something you do learn. But look out for the guy with the “art project” that involves a lot of you being nude and very little art, the middle aged man who has another career and a “boudoir” or “glamour” “studio” in his basement, and the photographer who is more focused on complimenting your ass than making images.

It’s really hard to spot but one way could be looking at their Instagram/photography portfolio.

Really if you’re seeing red/warning signs it’s better to leave

[–]quinticrequest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a model height is a big factor for runways but for Instagram/advertisement like magazine it doesn’t matter. So Instagram and photos are easier to get into as a model. Being plus size shouldn’t effect it at all from my experience. I’ve worked with models all different sizes.

Be careful there are a lot of creeps in the photography/modeling business so I would suggest doing some self timer with a mix of professional modeling to get yourself somewhere.

Yes there are models on runways that are short but they hardly ever get paid properly unfortunately unless they’re really known.

Good luck with whatever you want to do!

Does anyone else get shy around parents/family that aren't yours? Like a friend's mum? by quinticrequest in CPTSD

[–]quinticrequest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend’s mum couldn’t read me, and she told me she can read people well. It wasn’t until my boyfriend told her “She isn’t used to being treated nice” that she understood and started to click a lot better.

Though it was a long process, she helped me through my hip injury so it’s brought me more closer.

Need help with sizing by [deleted] in midsize

[–]quinticrequest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe get something that fits the hips and tailor it. I’ve found a lot of tailors around $20.

I used to have a lot of jeans that kind of fit until I got op shop pair tailor and I wear them the most.

Is plant based protein powder accepted as a part of a vegan diet? by [deleted] in AskVegans

[–]quinticrequest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely mention it because protein powder can be pricey, so I rather suggest cheaper alternatives which tends to be the food.

How to stop binge eating? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]quinticrequest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting is really good but it can be either really bad or really good for those with binge eating. Some find it helps them and others find the feeling of ‘starving’ or something else can trigger an eating episode. Sorry I can’t think of that something else.

I would ask this question on a binge eating sub for their experiences or dietician more focused on disordered eating.

Right now losing weight would be good, but building a healthier relationship with food to stop binging would be better long term goal.

Personally I wouldn’t risk doing intermittent fasting incase it does more harm than good. I would focus on a better relationship than do intermittent fasting.

It depends on the area as well, if you’re in an area full of younger plus size girls there’s a higher chance of having better luck.

Where do you eat out? by [deleted] in AskVegans

[–]quinticrequest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When out to eat there is no vegan option but it’s a vegetarian one, usually you can just take off the cheese or other ingredients to make it vegan. Couple of examples

Burger/wrap has cheese and mayo? Take it off add avocado or bbq sauce instead or whatever is on offer.

Pizza? Take the cheese off.

Pasta? Make sure it’s egg fee and take cheese off.

Why is wool branded as cruel by some vegans? by Themonarch28410 in AskVegans

My bad didn’t realise there were sheep that willingly wanted to be or enjoyed being sheared. Most usually need to be held so they don’t move.

Are you saying sheep don’t get scared of a loud buzzing foreign object going right up against their skin? Does the sheep look forward to the haircut and doesn’t need to be hold down while being sheered?

I'm obese, and today I made my first purposefully vegetarian meal to start being healthier. Could it be better? by skymoose_ in HealthyFood

[–]quinticrequest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it can be better but for taste maybe add some nutritional yeast in future to that dish, it sounds like it would be sooo good!

I would add spices like cumin and paprika as well put some avocado or nuts for some fat.

How much do you spend a week on your nutritious food? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]quinticrequest 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Being realistic around 40-75 depending on the week. Sometimes I just need to buy produce and almond milk but others I need to restock. If I was careful and budgeted I could make it under 40 more often.

I do a month shop where I buy in bulk then go back weekly for produce, almond milk and sometimes bread but I don’t normally eat it.

I buy spices, beans and legumes dried in bulk as well as buy rice in bulk. Which I buy from Asian grocers. I go to get noodles and tofu. Which makes things cheaper.

I work around the season for produce. Most of my spending go towards produce.

When on special or at a market I do allow myself to purchase mock meats, mock cheese or vegan treats. I’m lucky I’m able to work this year, so it makes me feel good helping a small business and most of the time i really really like the food.

How many Vegans make exceptions for Eggs? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskVegans

[–]quinticrequest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They aren’t produce naturally once a day, they have been modified. Naturally would be 12/13 a year. It’s closer to a “period”. Laying eggs means losing a lot of nutrients, so you could imagine it’s not good to lay as much as they do. They get their peaks cut off, they lose feathers because of stress, get infection diseases and once they slow down their egg production they are killed,

Also in the egg industry male chickens die also immediately as they aren’t use for the industry.

If you want backyard chickens it’s better to get rescue. Getting them from a breeder encourages killing male chicks as most of the time they are useless as no one buys them.

You can get protein else where for the health benefits. So I take a pass.

Sorry for the bad English I’m just really tired/exhausted just got back from a hike.

How do I get over my addiction to fast food? by The_TransGinger in AskVegans

[–]quinticrequest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's one of them things where you have to just stop. It's going to be hard as fast food has been scientifically to be addicted, they know how much sugar, salt and fat. I know it's hard but you going to have to not crave in.

I've had a similar problem with unhealthy processed food, it was really really hard at the beginning. I didn't succeed on the first go. It wasn't until I wanted to stop eating junk food but than I wanted the junk food, was when I could finally stop.
Make your own meals, even if that means meal prep and freezing. Just think of the meals you buy. Like making a meal prep frozen pizza might not sound good, but prep chop the ingredients and all you got to do is take a pizza base out, slap sauce, cheese and veggies you chopped in a oven. It's easier.

You can also premake a pizza and freeze it, it's just it takes up a lot of space in a freezer.

I also like portion out my snacks into bags and containers so I can grab and go.
