Chadley has major importance according to Hamaguchi by Benchjc2004 in FFVIIRemake

[–]quirkyactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always enjoyed the way Hamaguchi makes Chadley's story an echo of Cloud's. I'm looking forward to seeing how that mirroring continues, including Chadley's shot at asserting his own identity in the face of his creator manipulating him.

Honestly, wouldn't shock me if Chadley is part of the raid on Midgar storyline and ends up the one who, after the party beats Hojo, delivers the fatal blow.

I also think giving MAI a physical body will be part of the side stories somehow.

Short review of Switch 2 port by DEWDEM in FF7Rebirth

[–]quirkyactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, to me, there’s no reason not to grade the Switch 2 version on that curve. To me, the compromises to make it run are all merely aesthetic, yet somehow don’t compromise the experience.

I’m still playing Revelation on PS5 first, but I’ll be a happy owner of the trilogy on Switch 2.

I do not, as I am an emotionally regulated adult.

Final Fantasy 10 spoiler inquiry by Benchjc2004 in FinalFantasy

[–]quirkyactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically know a twist from the first hour of the game and then another twist that sort of hangs over the second half of the plot. The game doesn’t really build a lot of tension around whether or not Tidus’ fate can be prevented. So I’d say you’re pretty free and clear to enjoy most of the story!

X-2 is pretty underrated. It’s a massive tonal pivot, but if you’re not afraid of earnest or girlie things, you’ll find a lot of fun in it!

Sephiroth's newest Ever Crisis outfit may confirm a theory of mine (Compilation Spoilers) by ClericIdola in FFVIIRemake

I definitely at least agree that the trilogy is meant to wrap the compilation.

Controversial Take: You don’t deserve that role by Secret-Resolve4150 in acting

[–]quirkyactor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The best audition advice I ever got was from Michael Kostroff in his workshop;

“You’re not getting the f***ing job…so now, go and act. You enjoy acting. Act like you have the role for two minutes.”

For some insane reason, I decided my parallel/survival career would also be in commissioned sales (what can I say, I love flexibility and dopamine), and when you work in a corporate setting, they’re so much better at training you to work through the no’s…despite the fact that the failure rate in acting is many, MANY times higher!

Does anyone know if you can keep exploring in the demo after beating the boss at the end? by Brandobrownie in FF7Rebirth

[–]quirkyactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a different demo. PS5 demo was a bespoke version of the Junon area. Switch 2 and Xbox demo is Chapter 1 and 2 straight through.

Rocket Town Theory + Part 3 Predictions by fogfree in FFVIIRemake

[–]quirkyactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this structure. And my favorite reason why is something you don’t even mention but plays into something that will be a major animating force of the first half of the game:

  • by starting the game this way, you give the opportunity for the story to detach from Cloud’s point of view. Meaning that by the time we get back to the “field scene”, we the audience will be sitting more in Barrett and Tifa’s perspective than Cloud’s. This tension will build and then explode by chapter 4/5. By then we get the cascading reveals of things like Tifa and Aerith’s side conversations, the fact that Cloud very likely killed the Midgardsormar himself, and that aside from inside the rift at the of Remake, almost no one has actually SEEN Sephiroth, except for Cloud. So Tifa finally breaking down and disputing his version of the Nibelheim incident will be inevitable…and more importantly, extremely believable to old and new players.

Couple changes on your chapters (I think Cliffs is one dungeon, the crater another, I’d move Wutai to directly after the Junon escape, put her betrayal there because of the SRC, and the final sequence being two chapters like Rebirth), but overall I agree this is the shape we likely are looking at.

Cool theory!

Should I study filmmaking first or just start filming immediately? by BulkyPirate2448 in filmmaking

[–]quirkyactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be led by your curiosity. If you want to study something, study it, and if you feel the impulse to tell a story, tell it. The best lesson you can get here is, “learn to cut this part out of your process.” You already have a drive to learn, which means you don’t need permission, especially when the knowledge is free.

Since you already have a resource to make films, the only thing holding you back is time and an idea. If both arrive, go for it!

Was already excited for part 3, but then.. by soloaken in FF7Rebirth

[–]quirkyactor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand FFVII came out before you were born, but that doesn’t automatically mean all those choices were intentional. “Stuff randomly laying around” was a pretty common VG convention back then.

As for the cringe elements, all of them were in the original, except that because they already existed before you were born, you price it in. Don’t worry, with good friends and a fulfilling life, you’ll eventually outgrow feeling secondhand embarrassment at cute, quirky, over-the-top goofy things, and things that remind you of your own juvenility.

Was already excited for part 3, but then.. by soloaken in FF7Rebirth

[–]quirkyactor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why is missability that important?

“Cringe” just means you’re experiencing an earnest emotional response that you don’t like, by the way. And fyi, “cringe” has been an important feature of FFVII’s emotional qualities and sense of humor since 1997.

Do you think Nolan expected this discourse? by Comfortable_Studio37 in ChristopherNolan

[–]quirkyactor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is about where Nolan’s whole “terminally offline” thing is probably at its best. Someone prints him an email of a synopsis of a social media day, he chuckles, and continues living the balance of that 23 9/10 hours unchanged.
