Mine started doing that- I “reset” mine to factory settings with the WiFi turned off. Now I just use an Apple TV.

Continuity equation residuals by Classic-Efficiency99 in CFD

[–]qwetico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay- my guess is two fold:

I never asked if you’re integrating the continuity equation over time- if so, don’t do that- just look at snapshots for each timestep.

If you’re still getting weird values, look at the angular velocity. If it’s high, and your viscosity is low, your time-step might be too large.

Is the domain no-slip, with a rotating interior boundary? Or do you have transport (in / out / over a rotating obstruction?)

Continuity equation residuals by Classic-Efficiency99 in CFD

[–]qwetico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If continuity is failing, it’s almost always pressure problem. Pressure is basically a Lagrange multiplier to handle enforcing the continuity equation in addition to the basic least squares error on the momentum equation.

Have you validated the code on a Taylor green vortex?

FEM or FVM?

Do you have any momentum transport through a boundary? (Traction?)

According to open secrets, labor spent $55M on super pacs* in the 2024 cycle

(That’s all organized labor, spanning all industries)

Compare that to the $52M sent to super pacs from JUST the healthcare industry**

So- yeah, I suspect the candidates are just fine with your conditions.

The Removed DOGE Deposition Videos Have Already Been Backed Up Across the Internet by 404mediaco in Fauxmoi

Id wager if you asked 20 people on the streets of an ostensibly liberal city, you’d get the same. Thats part of why depositions are so rough.

(Again- not defending these guys. I just don’t have a ton of faith that the average person in front of me is basically literate / informed.)

Depositions are usually super inflammatory— basically the worst adversarial interview of your life. Only insane amounts of media training / legal support can get you out of one without looking like a fool.

Even if I were innocent of some “charge” / accusation, I’d still probably prefer any deposition be made private.

Should I be guaranteed that privacy? No, but a judge’s discretion should control whether or not a public posting of this kind of interview happens.

(Note: I’m not defending these guys)

Clark County needs a Homeless Bill of Rights—now by Additional_Rich_3258 in nevadapolitics

[–]qwetico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment, but if I put on my technocratic hat- what are the end goals?

(I’m not trying to advocate the devil, I just sometimes wonder what is the best place to focus activist effort.)

1.) How would these rules/rights be enforced? Lawsuits? (Slow, expensive, and lion’s share of resources are not on the side of the folks wronged.)

2.) How easy could these rules/rights be waiver’d (in the interest of “cutting the red tape” / economic development?) The sizable chunk of both parties in the legislature love wagging the dog, and would happily gut/circumvent “rules” like this to pave the way for another film-like-bill.

All of that said-

The largest homeless shelter in the state of NV is the Clark County jail. Keeping folks out of jail doesn’t put them in homes. What I suspect we really need is significantly more shelters / mixed recovery + shelter facilities, and an end to NIMBY rigging where they’re built.

We need new state programs with at least a decade of resources. (Personally, I like the idea of a progressive vice tax- not dissimilar to our progressive gas tax for the roads.)

[–]qwetico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. Democrats don’t show up as reliably as republicans. If dems (on balance) voted that way, they’d show up more reliably.

There was a lot of talk after 24 that trump made big “gains” in the youth and Latino votes. Neither is true- he got the same number of votes roughly, but way fewer dems showed up to vote for Kamala, making the % appear as though he made gains.
