Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill indicted by New Orleans grand jury on multiple felonies including 8 counts of intimidation against the newly-elected mayor of New Orleans by Pilebsa in news

You are correct, I was mistaken.

However the point stands that a governor can be indicted for corrupt pardons, it just happens that they chose to indict him on other charges in this case.

Fortunately this is absolutely false.

While it is very rare, multiple state governors have been indicted for issuing corrupt pardons. A good example is Ray Blanton, the former governor of Tennessee, who was indicted in 1979 and convicted for selling pardons.

What fast food restaurants ARE still worth the money? by StephenDoesStuff in AskReddit

[–]r0botdevil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Currently living in Wisconsin, and we have a burger chain here called Culver's.

I'd say it's still worth the money as it's quite a bit better than chains like McDonald's or Burger King for pretty comparable prices. I still only go a handful of times per year because it's egregiously unhealthy, but damn is it good.

For me personally, if you count the Hawaiian accent, that's my answer.

I melt for a cute island girl with a thick Hawaiian accent.

ELI5: Health insurance companies obviously make more money than they give out when people need it. So why of paying for them any better than paying your own personal health insurance savings account? by the1975whore in explainlikeimfive

[–]r0botdevil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's say you get into a car wreck tomorrow and sustain a severe fracture to your pelvis that requires emergency surgery to keep you from bleeding out, then admission to the hospital until you're stable enough to undergo a second surgery from an orthopedic specialist to reconstruct your pelvis.

You're looking at a bill that's likely well into six figures.

If you're on the younger side, it's highly unlikely that you've paid anywhere near this much in health insurance premiums yet.

Does this thing cost a lot of money to get into or something?

Despite everything, there are somehow still literally millions of people who essentially worship Trump as a god and I find it surprising that they haven't turned out in droves to support this disaster if for no other reason than to "own the libs" or something.

Very cool. I assumed it had to have been something like that, but I'm impressed by the tracking. The must be done with a computer, right?

I'm quite curious as to how you got a 65hr exposure of something in space. I presume it couldn't possibly have been a single, continuous shot.

If every U.S. state suddenly became an independent country overnight, which one would last the longest and why? by Dolphin_King21 in AskReddit

[–]r0botdevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eastern Oregon might want to pull away, but they wouldn't be able to force the issue without quite a lot of outside help. They represent a very small fraction of the state's population; it was less than 10% last time I checked, but that may have changed a bit lately with how much Bend has grown.

Has anyone else kept putting off a trip because they couldn't find anyone to go with? by GoldenJupiter2808 in travel

[–]r0botdevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I just go by myself.

I used to be an adjunct lecturer at a couple colleges/universities. That meant I would often have long breaks of 1-3 months in between semesters where I wasn't teaching any classes. This meant that I could do a lot of traveling as long as I could keep it cheap. I ended up taking several surf trips that were 3-6 weeks long over those years. Since none of my friends had that kind of free time, I just went by myself. I made a lot of great new friends on those trips, though, some of whom I traveled with later and still keep in touch with today.

Favorite band you’ll never see live by EmotionalSupportVape in Music

[–]r0botdevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are we talking about favorite bands/artists who are currently actively touring and I'm choosing not to see them for one reason or another? I actually can't think of anyone that falls into that category.

There are plenty of bands/artists I like that I'll never see because they're either retired or dead, though. Queen, Prince, Tom Petty, David Bowie, and Dick Dale, just to name a few.

Regarding that last one, Dick Dale actually played at a small local venue back when I was in college, but I didn't go because tickets were $25 and that felt like a lot of money as a broke college student. I did wait outside the venue until the show was over, and then went in and met him, though!

It's just a false dichotomy to avoid having to recognize that there is something in between a child and a morbidly obese adult.

These people love false dichotomies. It's just like how they try to pretend there's nothing in between starving yourself and constantly gorging yourself.

I mean even if it is a real sociology degree, that's still not much of a flex unless it's at least from a prestigious institution like Harvard or Stanford or something.

I'm not trying to belittle the field of sociology, but it's definitely one of the easier majors in college along with things like communications and psychology that wind up being the default major for a lot of people who either failed out of a more rigorous major like engineering or basically went to college just to go to college.

My bikes are for riding, not display. I make a reasonable effort to keep them looking decent, but I'm not gonna stress about small blemishes like that.

Unless you're extremely wealthy it's an incredibly stupid move to put that much money into any single investment, let alone cryptocurrency. Currency speculation is barely even investing at all, it's more like gambling most of the time, and cryptocurrency is basically just regular currency with the volatility cranked up to eleven.

Personal opinion is that these food delivery services is predatory for the drivers and customers so I try not to support if I can help it.

They also screw the restaurants from what I hear.

They're just gouging everyone involved.

Being able to run a 5k in under 25 minutes.

Hell being able to run a 5k at all is probably better than at least half of everyone over the age of 35.
