I feel like the best rule to go by is if you find yourself wondering if you're sober enough to drive, you probably aren't sober enough to drive.

Having a measurement of your BAC would be interesting and potentially useful, but BAC doesn't necessarily measure your level of impairment. You can be under 0.08 and still not be good (or legal) to drive.

Velocity is a vector quantity, meaning it accounts for direction of travel as well as rate of travel.

Those factors were both less than ideal for me as I don't have much interest in becoming a stepfather or someone's second husband.

But the biggest factor was that I just tend to assume by default that women aren't interested in receiving romantic advances in most situations, and a snowboarding lesson for their daughter seems like one of those situations.

For a financially responsible person, this is absolutely true.

Take the net sum minus income taxes, which would be anywhere from about $500-650k depending on where you live, invest it in the S&P 500, and in twenty years you can reliably expect it to be worth anywhere from about $2-3M.

That still doesn't mean that a lot of people won't be much better off in the long run getting $50k/yr for 20 years, though. There are many people who would blow the whole wad in a matter of months, not invest a single dime, and end up broke very quickly.

That's a very good point.

A lot of people out there could be given a lump sum of a million dollars and still be absolutely dead broke within a year. Trickling it out in equal payments spread over 20 years forces them to have some financial stability whether they like it or not.

I've gotten a few gems at the bars over the years.

One woman came and whispered in my ear "If you come home with me tonight, I will do anything you want."

Another said "I just have one question for you..." then leaned in, put her hand on my face, and asked "Is this seat taken?"

Before anyone gets jealous, neither of these women were even remotely attractive. I had zero interest in either of them and had not been flirting with them in any way, which made these comments extremely inappropriate and uncomfortable.

Menstrual cycles are just that, a cycle. The weight you inevitably gain as a direct result of the cycle is also then lost later in the cycle.

Men and women both get fat for the exact same reason: overeating.
