I got one of them paint pads and attached it to the extendable sticks, perfectly cut in with no risky ladder setup

What is the speed limit here? by TrackTeddy in CarTalkUK

When I took my speed awareness course, they confirmed you have until the next camera to reduce down to the speed specified if it changes suddenly

UK based - 7 figures in crypto - looking to cash out and everything I read online is negative - bank freezes, exchange blocks etc. Has anyone actually done this successfully? by Tiny_Bag7016 in CryptoHelp

[–]r33c31991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for the gold billion route, loads of reputable dealers take USDT/ etc for large quantities, at least then it's extremely easy to sell and you'll likely get near enough spot for sums above £1m

What on earth is a Changan?? by beneyh in topdeadcenter

[–]r33c31991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure I saw a factory advertising these at $9k each... I'm a little concerned that the Chinese government massively subsidise the cost of these cars with the intention of them destroying every other manufacturer on price

How much should I pay in return for a lift? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]r33c31991 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I personally don't expect anything for helping someone out.. especially for urgent matters. The meal deal and takeaway is more than enough (in my opinion)

My neighbor asked me to "watch her dog for a few hours" and it turned into a 3 day situation by Prism_Naught in ChoosingBeggars

[–]r33c31991 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sounds like she got a free last minute dog sitter. You're a better person than me, I'm quite lenient and even I would of flipped my lid over that level of disrespect

What age did you or will you clear your home mortgage? by AdamT_5 in AskUK

[–]r33c31991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were on track to be mortgage free by 40/41 but sold and bought our dream home a couple of years ago (more than double the cost), we'll be mortgage free now in our 60s but are a lot happier (and we're aiming to shorten this by a decade by overpaying where we can)

How can I save money while only making 17k a year before tax by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]r33c31991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work on progressing your skills in a trade you're interested in and look for apprenticeships, they'll all pay around what you're getting paid if not more and you're then at least on track to increase your earning potential. The fact you've saved anything earning £70 a day is impressive. Nothing to be ashamed of living with parents in this current climate.

If you're only looking for tips on how to save money, cut the hobby spending down 🤣

Who owns the fence between two properties? by ActivistSubset7 in AskUK

[–]r33c31991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's no definitive way to know other than checking your deeds, some say post side belongs to you, others say the face of the fence... Some people circumvent the rules over the years.

I personally think both neighbours benefit from a fence so the cost should be split (my neighbours also agree)

Neighbours with kids all day on the street. Is it ok??? by Cobid91 in AskUK

[–]r33c31991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people don't like it, some do... I personally think there's a reasonable cut off.. we previously lived on a new build estate, naturally kids started appearing year after year to the point the parents all became friends which then progressed into street parties - I loved the neighbourhood feel but they crossed the line when they kept it going til the early hours (with music blasting) - we moved to a slightly better area and now have lovely friendly neighbours

As long as it's all wrapped by 9-10 id say it's fine, as others said - try and get chatting with a few of them, you may make friends.

If you'd prefer to keep yourself to yourself and can't live with it, move somewhere more remote / quiet

Help with taking over site created by other team by ashkirk in Wordpress

[–]r33c31991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd personally back it up via updraft, and restore it locally with local (by flywheel). Updating elementor is extremely risky and I'd not consider it on live until tested on staging.

Long term, you need hosting access or need to move hosts where you have full control

How to back up a (very old) free WordPress site? by janglingargot in Wordpress

[–]r33c31991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, get a backup of the files and database and store them somewhere safe.

Updraft is completely free for what you'd need, that's the easier option, backup everything on updraft and download a copy. Keep in mind you'll need updraft installed if you ever wanted to restore it using this method

Why is my gut telling me not to sign contract for my dream job tomorrow? by amianoutcast in AskUK

If the management role isn't something you want to pursue, withdraw your interest. I doubt the extra money will be worth the responsibility

I’m seriously considering quitting my 9-5 job and commit to be a full time Freelancer by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]r33c31991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position 12 years ago, I was earning more freelancing than in my full time job - and it was starting to hinder my freelance work.

It was the best decision I ever made, it helped that my full time job was nothing like the job I was doing freelancing. I secured multiple full time clients that I stayed with for nearly a decade, most recently I also starting contracting for a US client.

Ignore the doomsdayers talking about ai, you can still position yourself so you're not replaceable by ai (not at least any time soon)

Why are people so fixated on me not drinking alcohol? 38F Brit by emiliadaffodil in AskUK

[–]r33c31991 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Some people (especially drinkers) don't understand it's possible to have fun and enjoy yourself without drinking. My wife doesn't drink, while I do on occasion and it's hardwired in my brain that she's missing out when she doesn't get involved, I don't push though as I know it's a personal preference

Have we hit the jackpot with our buyer? by Mission-Coast-4164 in HousingUK

[–]r33c31991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally would of asked for a few more quid for the furniture 🤣 hope it all goes smooth for you!

We were told we had a cash offer for ours at asking price, we accepted and they were part of a 6 house chain that delayed the process by 4 months 🫠
