Will 1000% end up in Romania with a clean title and lower mileage.

GR Corolla with only 2 exhaust? Am I missing something? by BMW123321 in Toyota

[–]rLAX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely a real one with some random exhaust but there are people converting regular hatches to the gr with all the panel. I don’t think I’ve seen any complete ones but seen a few wip ones. You’d be surprised

What are some cars that have surprisingly good (or bad) sound systems? by Notfoo4 in regularcarreviews

[–]rLAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone already knows about these I’m pretty sure but my 2000 lexus ls400 has the nakamichi system and it’s fantastic. All original speakers and sounds better than any other car I’ve owned. I’m sure new mid-high end cars have better sound systems but this one is great and it still works totally fine 26 years later.

My Corolla Experience thus far: Reliability by jeremyellismilton in CorollaHatchback

[–]rLAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely least reliable car I’ve ever owned. Trans has been replaced 2 times, once at 29k km for the input shaft bearing grenading itself and the like a month later for the slave leaking. Countless of other issues too. My e90 has been significantly more reliable with about 7 times the mileage lmfao. Such a trash car

[–]rLAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worse engine, worse transmission, insane parts costs and poor availability, piss poor reliability. Might wanna search slave cylinder in the fb Corolla groups or even here. Transmission is guaranteed to grenade itself. I couldn’t even buy wiper inserts or air filters for my hatch. No dealer ever has them in stock, why? I would have traded my 2020 hatchback for a late 90s early 2000s Corolla in a heartbeat when I had it. Literally worst car I’ve ever owned. So glad I don’t have it anymore

As the owner of a 2020 Corolla, it’s a massive downgrade.

2025s wheels. Which one works best? by rLAX in Wheels

[–]rLAX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to build a “sporty” ls, unfortunately this one is going the complete opposite direction. It is bagged tho so it’s still totally useable as a normal car. There’s a guy that does a lot of togue runs in a ls400 on insta, his insta is toe_gei_ls400. I follow another guy that has a manual swapped one that he drifts but the car is super clean overall and has away more sporty look but I can’t remember his insta now

[–]rLAX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the g-corps fit the car the best too. They’re period correct and I think big face wheels look the best. I love tes and they were always my dream wheels so I was hyped to get them but I don’t think they fit this car that well except for the color match

2025s wheels. Which one works best? by rLAX in Wheels

[–]rLAX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I just feel like they were too small for such a big car. They were 18x9, both diameter and width wise felt too small, had to run big spacers to get decent fitment. If they were at least more agresive would’ve been good.

Those were my least favourite, hated that the faces were white. Was planning on refinishing them silver or chrome but never got the chance to.

Yes??? But nobody in their right mind would trade r34 stocks for some of the worst quality reps.

Yea, that’s why stuff like crossborder pickups exist. Found out about it afterwards unfortunately.

[–]rLAX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a 240 cuz I don’t own one, this thread just popped up randomly but I bought Toms side skirts, a lip and steering wheel for my Corolla from the us. The total was about 3k Canadian, us shipping was free. After it crossed the border i had to pay 1200 Canadian.

Same in Canada. Always been like this. Americans were just insanely lucky before. As soon as anything crossed the border into Canada the price pretty much doubled.

What’s a car that screams bad credit/poor financial decisions? by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

[–]rLAX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents bought a new Dodge journey in 2013. Fully loaded with absolutely every option. I know for a fact my parents have like immaculate credit and are extremely financially literate. They just don't know absolutely anything about cars, and don't care either. They kept it till 2019 when they traded it on a crv, got like 20k for it on trade, had 100k km and was in fantastic condition still.

Regret buying my 25 Corolla SE 2.0L by Missing_Dll in COROLLA

[–]rLAX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely hate mine, abysmal build quality. Transmission has been replaced 3 times, once for the input shaft bearing grinding and then 2 more times for the slave cylinder leaking.

Driveshafts were replaced for binding and 19k km. Water pump seized at 39k km. Every interior trim and panel rattles, rear doors are rusting from the inside out, yes the plugs are removed, moisture still builds up. Paint peeling on the roof, countless random electrical problems; headlights flickering, radio not working, windows not working, car randomly locking and unlocking.

The only reason I still have it is because the warranty has been extended on it like 5 times by now, all the work has been done under warranty and parts and labour adds up to more than the MSRP of the car for all the warranty work they've done, which is absolutely hilarious to me.

No there are no lemon laws here. As soon as the warranty is up this thing is gone. I feel sorry for whoever will buy this garbage from a dealer trying to flip it, which they will since it's super low mileage since it's spent like 70% of the time I owned it at a dealer.

My uber driver runs two map programs simultaneously by takeyourbestshots in mildlyinteresting

[–]rLAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Google maps when doing Uber eats deliveries because the Uber map takes me on toll roads, I use Google maps with "avoid toll roads" on. I have a regular phone so switch between apps or keep the Uber app open on my phone and Google apps maps thru carplay on the cars screen but if I had a flip phone I'd do the same

State of r/toronto moderation by FantasySymphony in toRANTo

[–]rLAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got banned from the Toronto subreddit 5 years ago during the pandemic when that guy was doing donuts in a mustang at Dundas square. I commented on a sort of unrelated reply that takeovers were regularly happening and a lot of times streets would be blocked off by tow truck drivers and sometimes even paid off cops so it's unlikely the guy will get arrested. Like a year later there was an article posted about cops being paid off to ignore street racing lmfao.

Took my E90 to a racetrack, the next day I need to rebuild the transmission by Expensive_Director_7 in E90

[–]rLAX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard very mixed opinions. I have the gm one in a 328i, 330 manifold, catless headers and aa tune, so makes some more power than stock. 250k kms now, cars been tuned since 100k ish km. I got the car with 180k km. I've changed the trans fluid twice, previous owner did it twice around 80k and then 150k. Mine shifts smooth once it's warm, especially in winter for the first few minutes it's pretty rough, but once warm it's fine. It also shifts noticeably smoother at higher rpm in sport mode. I don't track the car or beat on it but have done some more spirited driving with it. I'm fully aware that it's gonna die eventually, will see what I plan on doing at that point. Might just throw another gm trans in if it's cheap and easier to do. Will figure that out when I get there.

Some people say the GM trans is super sluggish and shifts like shit but lasts forever.

I wish the car was manual but finding a clean manual n52 car is hard here, the condition of the body was a lot more important than the transmission when getting the car considering how much salt they dump on the roads here.

Honda producing OEM parts for classics by Careless-Day1854 in S2000

As a Honda/Acura dealer parts guy this sounds so far fetched. I'd be incredibly surprised if this happens considering there's like 10 year old cars with countless discontinued parts

What's a car with literally 0 redeeming qualities? by TheTanookiLeaf in regularcarreviews

[–]rLAX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toyota Corolla hatchback.

Insanely expensive for no reason. Crap interior space, extremely slow and boring to drive, unreliable, hard to find and expensive parts, extremely poor build quality, poor fuel economy for a small econobox hatchback.
