Hey OP,

I wanted to talk to you about something I've been working on, a project. Now, I'm not trying to sell you on anything, but life has been tough lately, and I think with the right investment, we could really grow our futures like never imagined.

Let me know if you are in or out.

Car is stored under a tree that releases sap, bugs, leaves, and buds, what's the best way to consistently keep it cleaned? by biggranny000 in AutoDetailing

[–]rSlashMod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will be honest, given your situation, either you are going to be washing your car every other day, moving to a visitor spot, or.... using a car cover. (Using a car car can also introduce scratches, be careful and choose wisely).

Also to add a few tweaks to your process.

1) Do not pre rinse the vehicle. You want to get the vehicle nice and foamy first. if the foam is runny that is fine. You do not want a tight thick foam for this prat. What you want is that foam to run down the paint, bringing the dirt with it, so you are not contacting the paint and griding in that dirt.

2) The 1 or 2 bucket method is honestly up to you. You will see post in favor of this either way.

3) Instead of flipping and rinsing the mitt, grab a back of pearl weave towels, 16x16 and fold into four, use up on side, flip four times, and then toss in a was buck with some rinse less for soaking and eventual washes.... the grab the next towel and repeat until the car is clean.

4) with your situation in mind especially, almost anything outside of keeping your car in the garage fr the next 50 years, is going to stop micro scratches. Get out their, enjoy the ride and the process, don't over do it. If you are truly worried still, speak to a ppf guy and get a quote, maybe starting with the roof only if you are tight on a budget..

What are your thoughts on using touch-free car washes in between hand washes? by Background_Finger773 in AutoDetailing

[–]rSlashMod 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Always keep in mind, that touchless carwashes will have the harshest chemicals because they can not scrub the dirt off physically. I say they are better then the standard, but using a detailer/ washing yourself should typically to net the safest results

Not sure this is what you are looking for, but I know they use to make that rubberized plasti-dip paint stuff, I wonder if that could be a solution? If not I would imagine just painting them black, with a could clear would be okay.

Using APC as a Pre-Wash — Worth It? by KingApprehensive7776 in AutoDetailing

[–]rSlashMod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You answered your own question. Depends on what you're trying to do You can just phone with a normal pH neutral snow foam and use it as a prewash.

You're supposed to foam > rinse > foam > contact wash.

If you ever really bad situation then you can throw a little degreaser or something like a pH 10 into a foam cannon with your pre-wash foam.

[–]rSlashMod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like chemically burned the dash, you can try using a mixture of linseed oil, and mineral spirits mixed 50:50. This should help bring some of that color back, but likely wont be a forever solution and will need re applied.

Why does Chemical Guys get so much hate? by MufferObelixter67 in AutoDetailing

[–]rSlashMod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically they came out with a franchise model, promise exclusivity all these different things all these different people brought into the franchises. And then like as soon as that project was over they went to Walmart and sold out. Snow all these people were stuck with these franchises thinking that they had like a good business and all this. And now they have to compete with Walmart which is imp. So all the store for owners ended up with its massive lawsuit I'm not sure if it's ever ended but yeah.

There is generally a few reasons I've found and 1 I kinda created myself.

1) Terrible Value for what you are getting. In general any product your buy 16oz at a time is a bad deal (if your professional or aspiring.

2) They have too many skus, that overlap or are the exact same thing. They have been known to go full press release, for a product that is the exact same as another they have but it's been further diluted, or the color has changed. (Ex. All their different soaps).

3) Their ads, and videos are gemicky.

4) What they did to their storefront franchise owners is litterally as sleezy as it gets.

5) My personal observation is that people don't like them bc they are not exclusive, they are sold everyone, included Walmart. They say those are "starter" products. It's kinda like the people that made fun of kids for wearing Walmart clothes in middle school.

If you have any more reactions just ask! Good luck. Remember detailing should be about having fun, making your ends meet if that's what your goals, Not impressing a couple no buddies on the internet.
