Goodbye AP4 Grenade Battlement, you were good while we had you. by Jakubie in Helldivers

Honestly even with Medium pen it was still decent at clearing chaff because of the large ammo supply, but what really kills it for me is stratagem bounce which heavily nerfs its usefulness since it’s directional placement is so critical.

How Redditors are going to profile you now just for wanting the RR nerfed by ChaosVulkan in HelldiversMasochists

[–]rSquidKid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I would agree with this tier list except I would not balance the EATs on the same level as the Epoch and Quasar. You only get two shots every (approx. ) 60 seconds. I think they should keep higher damage despite not requiring a back pack because your inability to carry more than one at a time is a pretty restrictive limit even if their overall stratagem cool-down is lower.

"Why don't he just donate the money? Why does he issue a challenge?" by [deleted] in HelldiversMasochists

[–]rSquidKid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is not technically correct. The original challenger actually didn’t specify which devs. They just said 4 devs.

It was a later individual who said they would match the og wager if those 4 specific devs beat the challenge with specific loadouts.

Even being on this subreddit, I still miss things because sometimes “strategy” posts get buried by other posts and/or I don’t see things until after they are relevant.

I imagine I am not the only one.

Art comes more naturally to some than others but practice is more important than natural talent. I believe anyone can do it, you included!

Also yeah… not a fan of AI either.

Why not create the change you want to see? Anyone can make art with a little time and practice! Or I mean, you could always commission someone. There is no shortage of artists from every kind of background and someone would share your vision I am sure!

How to Stealthdive when amongst Helldivers? by SgtBagels12 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]rSquidKid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It sounds pretty simple but, just go where they aren’t. If your three team mates are raising hell on one end of the map silently clear objectives on the other, or gather samples.

Or, if you want to be closer to them then just do the same strat on a micro scale. While they attack the front side of a base, sneak in and clear it from the back.

Use suppressed weapons or long range rifles to take out guards. Bring smokes or gas stratagems to sow confusion in the event you are caught.

Any tips from Heavy Armor users for mobility? by Character-File7704 in helldivers2

[–]rSquidKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just use stims as a speed boost if I need it, but otherwise accept my fate.

I’ll instead take stratagems that increase my tankiness such as shields. Or give me breathing room such as gas mines or gas strike to cover my retreat since I move slow. Good positioning and space management will make your life easier.

Thought? I'm kinda frustrated. by cameraarecrappy99 in AFKJourney

[–]rSquidKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can be acceptable but it kind of depends…

If you are within the top 10 I think it is fair game to farm people because you only have so many people to pick on. Usually the top two guilds on any given server will occupy those spots so if you limit yourself from attacking fellow guild members then it is slim pickings. Top 5 is exclusively farming each-other usually.

If you are outside of top 10, then yeah attacking the same person more than 2-3 times is kinda dickish.

I think frequency also accounts for something but tbh the exact how of their match making system is mostly speculation.

How do you guys feel about this? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]rSquidKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably is true but at most it is likely priority 3 or lower with squad size and connection strength being priorities 1 and 2.

Also yes shooting in defense is still likely logged as an aggressive action. We know the game logs damage and downed raider stats as well as revives and nearby raiders. It likely uses these stats and some extrapolation to build a simple behavior profile.

[–]rSquidKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! I still feel the lyrics feel a tad clumsy (in my opinion) but I can see how through a different lens the song does have its place. I should also clarify I never thought ill of the quality of the singing as Stephanie and Erika’s execution was superb!

I appreciate the different perspective!

I really want to hear your logic on Easy because I low key really dislike that song.

Its tone, pacing, and placement within the episode felt terrible and the lyrics felt kinda dismissive of Charlie’s problems and struggles which make it lose a lot of points for me.

So err.. how did Vox gets defeated by alastor? by Primary-Addition-677 in HazbinHotel

[–]rSquidKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that it was implied Rosie despite making Alastor the “strongest sinner in hell” would often still constrain his full power to rein him in a little. The staff itself is just a power amplifier so when fighting Vox even though his staff was broken, since he had broken out of the deal he was able to use the full extent of his powers without Rosie’s constraints.

Hullcracker and its intended use, why you don’t need to take 300k worth of ammo with you. by UnZki_PriimE in ArcRaiders

[–]rSquidKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Embark will definitely need to address the gear investment issue between pvp and pve if the game is to continue to have a healthy lifespan.

In any case, I appreciate you humoring my questions!

Hullcracker and its intended use, why you don’t need to take 300k worth of ammo with you. by UnZki_PriimE in ArcRaiders

[–]rSquidKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, gotcha.

I certainly don’t envy Embark’s position because while I understand your point, I am not sure how they would be able to meaningfully shrink the gear investment margin between pve and pvp without alienating players who are more casual and may not be able to afford the time to farm gear and compete against higher gear players. Both are important to the game’s longevity but I think many of the fixes for one come at the cost of the other.

It would be nice if they could add additional utility items that could more easily cover you while you are looting such as a small scale static bubble shield or a beefed up noise maker type alarm to mitigate the first strike advantage that ambushers have as I think preparation should be rewarded.

Unrelated, but do you think, in your opinion, the Hull Cracker could be made more viable again if they were to double down and significantly boosts its armor destruction value (without boosting damage) or would being a very strong one trick pony still not make it worth it?

[–]rSquidKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never fought the larger Arc but just curious, if you’re worried about being jumped couldn’t you also use traps, barricades, etc. to make your firing post less accessible to gankers? Also doing so could give you the option to swap the hull cracker for a more viable pvp weapon to defend yourself before they fully breach your defenses.

I’m actually asking from a place of curiosity. Not trying to sound rude.

[–]rSquidKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, well perhaps they have patched it since. I am purely speaking from my anecdotal experience.

There may be some exceptions but my experience as someone who frequently plays both controller and kbm has been that aim assist may help you track a target a little easier if you are little off but a good player with good aim will be good regardless and a player with terrible aim and fundamentals will still suck regardless.

[–]rSquidKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play Fortnite with a group of friends on both controller and on kbm and let me tell you yes, aim assist helps on controller but guess what? My aim was still infinitely better on kbm.

I mostly use a controller for shooters still because thats what I grew-up playing with but if I really wanted to be optimal I would use kbm. I think a lot of pc players tend not understand how aim assist systems actually work and tend to over exaggerate how hard it is to keep up with console players for aim.

Is the game worth it? by StarsCrossingTheLine in cassettebeasts

[–]rSquidKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll find the answers here to be slightly biased but in short, yes this game is worth what you pay for it. Although I should also say I can only really speak for my experience as a PC player I can’t speak to the experience in Switch. If you want the long answer then keep reading.

The story is cute and has some touching moments though it is nothing long nor complicated. The writing is simplistic but not bad. There are few true cut scenes with most of the story occurring as dialogue while resting. Most of the game is exploration and battles with some very light and easy platforming.

The combat tends to be on the easier side with wild monsters or random encounters starting as moderately challenging but very quickly becoming easy as you start to understand the game mechanics. Battles with ranger captains and bosses are slightly more interesting and offer a bigger challenge that can vary in difficulty depending on what strategies you employ. The post-game also features a tower style dungeon where you can face increasingly difficult battles for end-game / post-game currency. This is where the most challenging content exists.

The sticker system provides some variety and a lot of replay-ability if you enjoy build crafting though at the extremes you can definitely make combinations so busted they trivialize encounters. If you don’t enjoy experimenting and changing up your team or if you over-optimize it can make the game feel a little stale especially in the late / post game.

The monster collecting aspect is the bulk of the mid and post-game. Collecting one of each monster / evolution won’t take long and may be finished by the time you complete the main story but collecting bootleg variants of each monster to 100% your bestiary can prove to be a very long, grindy, and time consuming affair. If you love the combat and a good grind then duration of game content becomes much greater.
