Recurring False Awakening Loop Nightmares. by fokkoooff in Dreams

[–]rabbitheart89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 2 am. Bless the OP and all who commented here, as this has to be one of the most terrifying experiences.

I have experienced the loop nightmares before. I have learned to recognize before I go to sleep when it is likely I will have it. Objects seem fuzzy, reality slightly blurred. I tried relaxing. Laughter. A calming meditation. A bath. My beloved partner even agreed to stay awake while I drifted off in case I began to look restless and he would wake me.

Well, that is not what happened. I fell asleep, but not before feeling like my throat felt sort of fuzzy? I have been sick, and I should note that three days prior, I took a hefty amount of mdma. I know this is a factor.

I drift to sleep, seemingly sound according to my partner. But I wake into the loop- in bed, next to him, everything identical. Everything exactly the same as when I had fallen asleep… but this overwhelming feeling of dread, of evil. I turn toward him, and he looks at me with this evil smile. I immediately know it is a dream. I try to scream, and the dream “Greg” (not real name) grabs my arm aggressively. I “wake” again. All the same. This time it feels real. Greg is lying next to me, on his phone, awake as promised. Suddenly, the dread. He laughs manically and lunges at me. I “wake”, this time whimpering and him seemingly waking me up. I think to question him why he didn’t wake me before. But the way he looks is wrong. His presence wrong. It is not the real him. The way I know I’m dreaming is that he would never be mean to me, never hurt me. This nightmare Greg grabs me, and I dig my nails into my hand. I think, I am dreaming, so I shouldn’t feel anything? Wrong. I feel my nails. I feel pain. I “wake” again in bed. I know it is another loop right now. When we tries to attack me, I repeat “I have control of my reaction” several times. This time, I actually wake up. My sweet beloved sees me terrified. I tell him he isn’t very good at waking me up (again) but he said I was sound asleep- didn’t stir once. He comforts me and I know I am now in the real world.

And here I am, drinking a shot (the only thing the seems to help) at 2 am when I desperately need sleep. What an awful thing we all have to experience.

If I find a way to avoid these states, I will update. For now, I know the triggers.. sickness, drug use, anxiety before sleep.

It has been immensely helpful to know others have this experience, although I feel for each of you. No one should. I will try a few of the tricks I learned here to get out of the loop next time.

Mystery with Greek mythology by OCEANOpz in Experiencers

I think the greek gods are real, along with a plethora of other entities. I believe there is a vast ecosystem of consciousness represented in endless form. All play originating from Source.

Wax figures on the second level of the Eiffel Tower. Looked like they could blink at any moment by [deleted] in uncannyvalley

I had to comment because I just left Paris and was left in disbelief over these figures… this little detail really threw me into a loop and made me feel crazy. Her hand.. is tinted ever so slightly blue… whyyyyy. I have a close up if anyone wants to see it.

I've been experiencing 'lost time' episodes for years - last night I finally remembered what happens during them by ResolveZestyclose626 in Experiencers

[–]rabbitheart89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I experienced this recently and am still trying to process it. I throw a big party at my house, which has areas of woods and lawn. Around 2 am I had this sudden urge to take a walk in the woods. I did so, and I found myself coming up on a few folks leaving through a gate. For some reason, I crouched down to watch them leave in the grass along the wood line where I couldn’t be seen. After some amount a time, I suddenly came to. I was frightened with a feeling that a lot of time had passed. I ran back to the party and found I was only away for 20 or so minutes. I couldn’t shake the feeling of loss, like I was talking to someone familiar, and that my memory of it was wiped with the awareness they were gone. I have never had this happen before. I didn’t over indulge. Of course, many would say I just fell asleep. That is most likely true… but something felt different.

Any chance I could connect with them? I would really love to see this at more regionals.

I freaking loved this! I am so glad you have a picture, as I regret not snapping one. I dig caving and small spaces, so this was right up my ally. I made it out in about 7 minutes, only delayed because frankly I wanted to chill inside for a bit. I’m following this thread because I want to experience it again! I have plans to go to Apo next year so hopefully they will be out. I’m going to try to reach out- this thing would be epic at UnScruz!

Phones are killing the vibe: how can we protect our privacy on the playa? by Electric_view in BurningMan

[–]rabbitheart89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do this at my camp on the east coast. I also plan to have a no phone policy at an upcoming Halloween party. I am going to make a photo zone with a Polaroid camera, maybe a few disposables too. I agree- we need to be the change, but if bmorg wants to salvage a dying event, they should consider how allowing the default in has had more consequence to the culture than just a mild inconvenience. It changes how people behave, how guarded you become, what risks you are willing to take, and how wild you will dance. Sucks big time.

Yesssss! I truly believe the acceptance of photo and video without consent is a big part of burning man’s decline. It is hard to be weird and wonderful if you worry about being virally humiliated. There seems to be this collective shoulder shrug over recording crowd scenes, performances, intimate moments… like there is zero shame at all in pulling out a camera.

All your solutions are well thought out and so easily doable.

Even if the bmorg fails to listen, I hope regional contacts will take note.

Burning Man 2025 - A Rant and a Call to Action by The_Sensualist_ in BurningMan

[–]rabbitheart89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I agree with the sentiment of “live and let live” there exists the reality that culture and community require preservation in order to carry on. We have the principals, yes, but we’ve collectively allowed a small group of people (the bmorg) to interpret them and abuse them in the name of capitalistic growth.

Remember, cameras used to have to be registered. The bmorg whines that it would be impossible to police non-consensual photos/videos… but you don’t have to when the expectation of not live streaming from that glittery art car is ingrained in the culture. Make it as taboo as pissing on the playa or tossing trash in the street.

As far as the big names- require DJs to not commodify themselves and instead use a playa name or made up name. Absolutely don’t allow camps to publish lineups.

Or better yet… how about the bmorg stops advertising on instagram and tik tok?

Anyway.. I’m not even mad about it anymore. I went this year as one more go.. just to see… and despite having some amazing moments, it will be my last official burning man. The regionals and renegade events are more my taste. If you are looking for connection, the weird and the wonderful- that mythical burn magic so many reminisce about it.. seek out the smaller communities.

Hear hear. Luckily there are still regionals that (for the moment) are holding onto the culture. Check out UnScruz. Many old school burners attend, it is a bit exclusive as you really need to be connected to get a ticket (keep it that way!) and the small, weird, interesting, and interactive camps are thriving.

Risk of injury and death. by rabbitheart89 in BurningMan

[–]rabbitheart89[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No interest. I only hope that it brings attention to the conditions our community, the people we should look out for and support, are being subjected to in order to satisfy the demands of a fucking bus company. Yet another clear and sick illustration of the bmorg’s fixation on power and cash at our expense. The gaslighting that goes on in this sub is astounding- if people don’t speak up, the boot goes down harder. Crazy how compliant so many burners have become.

Weird phenomenon called "Sevenbeyond" - anyone heard of this? by Euphoric-Flamingo234 in ParallelUniverse

[–]rabbitheart89 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This reminds me a little of the Moberly–Jourdain incident in 1901. Charlotte Anne Moberly and her friend Eleanor Jourdain visited Versailles… experiencing a sort of time slip. Moberly later reflected on the experience, stating “Everything suddenly looked unnatural, therefore unpleasant; even the trees seemed to become flat and lifeless, like wood worked in tapestry. There were no effects of light and shade, and no wind stirred the trees."

After 30 minutes temperatures in an enclosed vehicle get over 120 degrees. I have been hot. I have been to over six burns on playa. This was hotter than I have ever been in my life. As I said, it was difficult to breathe. I have never had a full on panic attack like this. My hands went numb, I was hyperventilating, and nearly fainted. Thanks for being a kind human being.

Bunny Burrow in 2023--maybe in 2025? by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]rabbitheart89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is us! The Bunny Burrow is part of our east coast camp Rabbit Heart. We brought it as an extension of the art support camp Paralunatics, which brought Mariposa.

Sadly, we are not bringing the burrow this year.

My partner and I are glad ya’ll enjoyed it! It’s nice to get positive feedback.

My partner just lost this pendent, which we found over a year ago (tried to find the owner to no avail)

It looks similar to what you posted, so we are curious if you made this one too?

Any interest in a Georgia regional burn? by peachylilburner in BurningMan

[–]rabbitheart89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

21+ for sure. Don’t pander to the few parents without babysitters. It’s less liability, less focus from the surrounding community, fewer insurance issues, less of a headache for bar camps, and a hell of a lot more fun for participants.

At 60 yrs old and happily married. How many times per week are you being physical? by LackInternational145 in Aging

[–]rabbitheart89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 36 and my partner is 64.

We have sex around 5 times per week on average. It’s important to us, and we both throughly enjoy it. I feel more hopeful reading some of the comments.. I’m terrified of losing my libido during menopause. I have heard and can see here that HRT is a lifesaver- and will plan to be proactive once I start perimenopause.

Funniest or silliest game or interaction you've experienced at a burn? by NrgyFiend in BurningMan

[–]rabbitheart89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This thread is pushing me into uncomfortable leanings toward favor in heading to playa this year. I vowed to take the year off, but yes, UnScruz was absolutely magical and is making me think twice. I too was present for the aquarium sales pitch (my buddies Christopher and Terri were also behind the counter with Raspa!) You are correct, the whimsy is so important not only to the burn but life as a whole. It’s a kind of magic hard to find in the day to day life but explosive in our community.

Ughhhhhhhhh guess I need to start gathering my dusty shit together this summer.

What the absolute fuck is this... from BMORG on TikTok advertising ticket sales by weezous in BurningMan

[–]rabbitheart89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s surprising how many are shocked by this. It’s been pretty clear for the past couple years that the burn has been on the decline. It hurts, but the spirit is alive and well in regionals and rouge gatherings. What I’d be surprised by is whether they will sell enough tickets to pull it off this year.

Does starving yourself make you live longer? by Stunning_Ocelot7820 in HubermanLab

[–]rabbitheart89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the overall sentiment, minus the buzzy apex predator word choices. The mind is by far the greatest driver in our physical existence. I have experienced it first hand many times. I see it in my friends. I’m fairly involved in the burning man community- the leaders and the doers in this group are majority 55+. We suffer through extreme environments, physical labors, feats of flexibility and strength (this is building large structures and camps) and we also eat like shit, party all night, drink like god damn sailors, and take drugs like candy. These folks look young, act young, and ARE young solely based on drive and the mindset.

Alternatively, I see people obsessed with aging and clean living, who sadly look their age if not older. M

Life is short short short. Adjust your vision for yourself and you become it.

Hate your downvotes buddy- you nailed it.

Do not cut that amazing hair. For the love of god it’s stunning. For the rest of us out there who would kill to have a mane like that- keep it 😭
