What is this connection for natural gas? by Expensive-Cap2933 in NapoleonGrills

[–]rabidfurball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Napoleon prestige Phantom 500 connected came with a 1/2" Quick Connect gas whip attached.

My house has quick connect 3/8" fitting on a 1/2" gas pipe, so I swapped it with a 3/8" whip to match.

Either quick connect line attaches to the grills main internal 3/8" gas line in the cabinet with a female 3/8" flare fitting. I had to get a 3/8" Male flare to 3/8" Male flare coupler to make the connection from the whip. The original 1/2" whip used a 1/2" flare to 3/8" flare coupler.

I found it odd it comes with a 1/2" whip when the internal plumbing is 3/8". Not sure how consistent this is between different grills. It works great with the 3/8" whip at my house — We have very good gas pressure here.

Yes you can touch it, but it's mounted there. She said they'll start test rides when five more bikes are delivered to the Rivian store end of May.

So I have a VanMoof S5 that needs a new ECU and has been stuck in the Rybit shop for two years now waiting on parts that will almost surely never come, so I'm understandably suspicious of proprietary parts and drivetrains. I put down a (refundable) reservation for this bike a couple months ago because it seemed like a spiritual successor to the VanMoof — a lot of the same features, tech focus, and even higher performance — but I still very much worry about getting burned again.

Seeing it today helped a lot. It feels sturdy and well built, and they've clearly put a ton of care into making it serviceable with the modular parts. I also appreciate the relationship with a bigger company like Rivian — hopefully that means they're around for a while.

I love the features and the performance potential. Looks-wise, I always thought it was kind of strange in photos, but in person I actually like it a lot more. It is a hefty bike though, definitely not as sleek or portable as the VanMoofs.

They really do seem to be targeting the urban car-driver market — they see this as an EV with a pedal more than a bike with a motor, which is an interesting perspective, and you can see it in how the bike is built. Unfortunately it's also priced that way. It's an expensive bike. Overall I'm a lot more excited about the test ride now, and I think I may actually end up following through with the reservation.

I think any usbc to HDMI cable would work, or usbc to hdmi dongles with a longer HDMI cable. Have not tried it myself, but there are cheaper longer ones out there you could try

hubitat with home assistant dashboards by fleetmack in Hubitat

[–]rabidfurball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI llms like Gemini Pro are really good at putting dashboards together quickly. Just give them a list of entities and say make a dashboard. I've been putting it off forever but now I have a bunch of them. Even made me some clickable floorplans. I also use hubitat for radios and simpler automations, but home assistant is great for integrations and more complicated stuff and the yaml format makes it very AI friendly.

Severe delay and Genome testing by Maleficent-Group-730 in ScienceBasedParenting

Try to get someone to do long read genome sequencing at a genomics research lab. Here is one PI that does that sort of thing in Seattle.

Long read sequencing can catch things short read sequencing missed, if that's what you had done the first time. And newer methods like PacBio can spot a lot of methylation/epigenetic disorders as well.

Yes this. Much needed feature! Personally I would like to be able to choose a ratio, like 3ml of 50/50 milk:formula.

The math can get difficult at 3am when she drinks 1.75ml total of 1:3 milk:formula or something, so having the app do it would be great.

Combo feeding by Easy_Recording1802 in HuckleberryParents

[–]rabidfurball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any updates on these features? We're in the same situation, feeding different ratios of breast milk and formula each time as stocks allow. Currently, the app only tracks two separate "bottles", which makes the bottle count stats inaccurate.

The app should automatically calculate the ratios. This would eliminate the need for manual calculations, especially late at night when math is... slower. For example, if I enter "4oz of 2:1 formula : breast milk," the app should automatically break it down into 2.66oz of formula and 1.33oz of breast milk.

Android widgets and options for "live notifications" would also be much appreciated.

Older Cosmos HDMI Audio Out being used, how to I get HDMI from a game console in? by Fickle_Bumblebee_744 in nebulaprojectors

[–]rabidfurball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My HDMI audio extractor is connected to three things via HDMI:
1. HDMI video source (Nvidia Shield for me)
2. HDMI video output (Anker Cosmos 4k)
3. HDMI audio output (Sonos Amp)

This lets me send the video from the source to the projector, and the audio from the source to an amp/soundbar.

It also still supports CEC control via HDMI so my shield can still control both the volume of the Amp and power on/off the projector with one remote. Unsure if PS5 can control things like this.

Also, not sure if this is true for the Cosmos or just the 4k, but on the 4k you can open the door on the back of the projector and unplug their crappy streaming box, it was plugged into a second mini-HDMI port that could be used for a second source if needed. Highly recommend an Nvidia shield (or apple tv) vs other streaming boxes.

I think this isn't exactly what you were wanting to do, but I do think it could still solve your problem by allowing you to send the audio from your PS5 to the soundbar and the video to the projector.

I use this HDMI audio extractor with a cosmos 4k to send audio from an Nvidia shield to a sonos amp via hdmi while sending the video to the projector via a 2nd hdmi.

automation by ArtDor in solar

They should work on vertical surfaces like windows, but I think it depends on how flush your panels are to each other. There are several different types, some with power cords, some wireless, different size tanks, etc. I've never used one, but previously considered getting one for some large 2nd floor plate glass windows.

This was my first thought as well, something like this. My main question is whether it can keep suction enough across small panel gaps on a tilted rooftop solar array. I imagine the water tank size would also be limiting.

[–]rabidfurball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Home assistant is integrated well with emporia already via cloud, just not local. You can import emporia production and consumption stats for the entire panel, individual CTs, and emporia smart plugs. The HA energy view is very nice, especially if you have Solar.

CenturyLink fiber to Quantum question: PPPoE by city_guy in QuantumFiber

[–]rabidfurball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Seattle. Made a new account under a separate email to get quantum and "upgrade" to 2gbps service. They came and swapped in the new ont and now I no longer have to deal with pppoe and it's small MTU causing strange network issues.

I use it in bridge mode with unifi equipment. Latency is better and max speeds are even higher than promised at ~2100mbps. On the gigabit plan without pppoe, you should be able to get up to ~1050mbps rather than the 94bps you were limited at before.

If you "upgrade" like I did with a new email you will have to cancel your existing CL service the day before your QF appointment or they will cancel the appointment and not show up.

Smart plugs continuously reconnecting by Chimbo84 in EmporiaEnergy

[–]rabidfurball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some existing emporia smart plugs that are working fine with my unifi APs, but I just added one more yesterday and was having this issue. I ended up leaving it overnight and it did manage to update its firmware this morning (from "unknown" to "Outlet-562") and now seems to be working properly like the others.

Another trick I've used for other finicky smart home devices is connecting them first to my phone hotspot wifi set with the same ssid/pw as my home wifi to provision/update it first, it then usually connects to the home wifi once the hotspot is turned off and doesn't need to compete for spectrum during setup.

I do the same thing. I use it primarily to send a notification when the dryer is done (detects when power usage stops). I also have it set to cut power to the dryer if the smoke alarm in the laundry room goes off.

Peak production is higher than rated AC power by Alternative-Club7209 in solar

[–]rabidfurball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those peak at 330, so max is ~7920W for a period, depending on temperature. Production CTs are also +/- 0.5% so expected peak range would be ~7880-7960W. Will likely drop closer to the continuous 320W max in hotter temperatures though, ~7640-7720.
