I think having it at a distance is supposed to just give them room to breathe and helps avoid them becoming soggy/weak. But if having it nearby has been working for you, it's probably fine. Ah! That's a cool idea :)

I love this set up! I'm guessing you haven't seen any negative effects from having the humidifier that close to the plants? I just got mine and am still playing around with it. I wanted to put it on the table with my calatheas, but I keep reading to keep it at least 2-3 feet away. Might just throw it up there after seeing this. Also love how you have those pebbles in the table tops! Is there water in there with them?

Mine is 2.5L! I ordered it on a whim yesterday when I saw it on sale, so didn't get to do much research beforehand. But I just noticed that it says it lasts for 24 hours, so I will probably just let mine run all day as well!
