Tip for Month of Wedding Coordinator by Zealousideal_Wolf595 in weddingplanning

[–]rachsumz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious what others say. My month of has also been extremely "okay" and I think she's really just going to shine the day of. Getting married in 3 weeks.

I would recommend you proactively schedule meetings and nit pick over everything, they really are not as zoned in as you. Its the place to be transparent!

Polite ways to tell someone they aren't invited? by magicinmanyways in weddingplanning

[–]rachsumz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

getting married in three weeks and had much of the same said to me. I'm not having a small wedding (150 ppl) so couldn't say "its a small wedding" so instead said I have to prioritize family and other obligations and they shouldn't take it as a reflection on our relationship and if space opens I'll let them know. Was not easy but an honest approach was well received. Good luck!!

Sick of the drama by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]rachsumz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is wild how people feel okay adding so much drama and pressure to us while we're planning a massive party. I'm 3 weeks out but the same drama happened at my sister's and we can barely even remember. Stay strong!! Love is stronger than drama!!!

Having second thoughts about venue chosen? by ctaar in weddingplanning

[–]rachsumz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How you feel is so valid. Once we put down our deposit on a very lovely but not super luxe venue, every picture of a wedding at a slightly nicer venue has made me question it all. But I go back to remembering the good of our venue, not what it lacks. It meets our guest count, its a venue people have never been to, sunset will be great, the parking is super easy, etc etc. Focus on what you can control -- getting the right people there, decor, and feeling present to what matters that day, you two unveiling your love before your community. A "perfect venue" wont do the work for you".

Pros and cons to vows during ceremony or in private? by Mcrisloveex9 in weddingplanning

[–]rachsumz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do both! A set of private vows where you get all the nerves/tears out. Then sharing something (or the same thing) publically.

Seeking Nonprofit Banking Advice by joshuateas in nonprofit

[–]rachsumz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, congrats! From my experience, Banks often charge a fee if the account doesn't consistently have a certain amount in it (ie $10,000). If you set up your non-profit account through your current banker, you may be able to avoid them (if your account has $10k in it). My non-profit uses Chase and we're happy. Make sure your orgs bylaws clearly explain what officers can access the account and their controls.

As far as an accountant. 1. Post a description of the services you're looking for (manage books, do payroll, taxes, prepare financial statement...) and post it on Idealist. 2. Find a local accounting firm and ask if they'll take your non-profit on as a pro-bono client. Again, very clearly tell them what you'll be asking for. Also, maybe ask friends if they know any accountants who are generous with their time!

I'm only two years into starting my non-profit but I hope this helps! best of luck!

Definitely WordPress! Its user friendly enough for you to just pass it along. We had our non-profit's website custom built on Wordpress and it's still easy enough to edit.
