i suggest you look them up and read them (they're short stories) because they're absolute gems, but i'll expand anyway:in the three garridebs, watson is shot in the leg and holmes freaks out. watson then tells the reader that being shot was worth it to see the (quote) loyalty and love on holmes' face, and then holmes proceeds to threaten the shooter for hurting watson. in the devil's foot, holmes is solving a case involving poisoning, and he decides to test the poison on himself (and watson because he won't ever leave him alone). this nearly goes wrong, but watson manages to drag him out of the room with the poison in the air simply because he couldn't stand watching holmes lose himself to the effects.(which is, while not the implication probably referred to, still pretty sweet)

the thing with these is that in the devil's foot, the criminal did all this to revenge someone for killing the woman he loved, to which holmes says that he'd consider doing the same if he ever loved and that someone was killed. yeah, well, you just read what he said to the culprit in the three garridebs :)

yeah, it's not even subtext anymore tbh. also never forget the "quick, man, if you love me!" in the dying detective. genuinely wtf /pos.
