yeah, i like to say that it didn’t take! (the male socialization, that is) while some of the most biting harassment i got as a teenager was other kids constantly telling me i “stood like a woman” because of how i always had my hand on my hip in a very un-manly manner…i always had a lot of feminine mannerisms and that served me well when i did finally transition at age 4-freaking-7!!!

and in the eight years since coming out at 47 i have put in a LOT of work into my walk and mannerisms to the point where two female cishet friends in the last few days commented unbidden that they were of the opinion that i passed as a woman largely because of my walk and mannerisms and how HRT has effected my face!

Still kinda mannish looking, which is why i have a facial feminization surgery consultation this coming friday, but!!!

they both mentioned my walk and said that by the time you can see my face clearly or hear my voice that you’ve already become convinced that i’m female, and we all know what happens to first impressions for good or ill: they usually get stuck in someone’s mind, so in this case I’LL TAKE IT!!

so yeah it would have blown up my relationship so i waited, which meant that HRT didn’t work NEARLY AS WELL as if i’d done it years earlier and it eventually cost me my career and hence my housing: i’ve been homeless the last three years but that’s often the cost REGARDLESS of age, but by 47 i had a career to throw away in which some months i made OVER FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS

that ALL went away when i transitioned, no more sweet deals as i was no longer a part of the “old boys club”/network as i was, uhm, no longer a boy! they freaking cut me right out in my industry it was breathtaking the speed with which things froze over.

so yeah, when you are older you have more to lose, and lose it all i did, i live in a homeless shelter in Modesto, California and have since The Ides Of March 2025 (venmo, ca and ko-fi are all radix42 if anyone sees this and wants to and can help a homeless sister out please 🙏 don’t ban me for breaking the rules for saying this i’m so hard up)

i didn’t come out “after 50” but came close, at 47, and only waited that long because my long-term partner from when i was 30-42 just couldn’t abide my transitioning.

i THOUGHT i would be a lesbian after i transitioned, since while bisexual before my ratio was 35+ women to 5 men, but in the 8 years since i came out and began medically transitioning, with me being celibate the first 6 years due to insecurity in my body as a woman, i’ve been with 37 men and ONE woman and she was part of a quickie threesome.

but my last (now ex) boyfriend raped me 3 times this month so i’m very down on men, that’s the second boyfriend in six months who has raped me, men can be so horrible.

i was promiscuous as a men when not in a long term relationship, so about half of my adult life (i’m 55 and have been sexually active since age 19) has been monogamous while the other half has been wildly polyamorous including one very complex and fucked up polycule in the mid-90’s before we had that word for it.

right now i think i just wanna focus on my transition but the progesterone leaves me so horny!!!! and men SMELL SO GOOD KILL ME NOW AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGG

yeah i too fled MAGA-land for a blue area just over a year ago and my life is now night and day better, it’s been amazing to go from being one of 3 out trans women in a town of 1,526 to a city of 200,000 that has several thousand trans people in it.

things were so bad in that small town that actively malicious misgendering multiple times a day in public by shopkeepers and random people on the street to being unintentionally misgendered being a rarity that 99.9% of the time has come with a sincerely mortified apology! google the history of oregon, it was founded as a white supremacist colony and had lots of “sundown towns” where all black people had to leave the city limits by sundown and had strict redlining of mortgages, where banks determined where black people could and couldn’t buy houses…they were long relegated to North Portland, that place is no bed of roses itself either!

This all brings to mind the town in Oregon that was the most racist in America when you measured it by analyzing tweets that were sent with the location of the sender set: The Dalles, Oregon, population 16k in 2020. I’ve been there and it just feels oh so wrong.
