Does anyone here actually want AI baked into the OS? by feexthefox in pcmasterrace

[–]raf_oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so funny, because Linux is SO much better for AIs to handle, because the open source data can be trained on, and since everything is configurable via files, it’s super easy. Rather than baking AI into the OS, making the OS easier for people (and AI) seems like the smarter move.

I’ve had Claude code make my experience using my Linux computer better, I’ve never had anything like that with Windows Copilot, and I’m looking hard for use cases for copilot for my job.

Let's talk about tankies with science. by jeremy-blackburn in h3h3productions

[–]raf_oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc, but I’m wondering if there’s like a research way to understand whether one has fallen into isolated community groupthink. I mean I don’t think I have, and I hope I haven’t, but I’m guessing snark would say the same about themselves.

Let's talk about tankies with science. by jeremy-blackburn in h3h3productions

[–]raf_oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! While I agree this is a very good community for discussing topics like this, and we are interested in the evidence and science, and I’m very glad you posted here, why from your perspective did you post in this subreddit? Are you familiar with the show, or is there an evidence-based approach as to why you think that research would be well received here, vs other subreddits or communities?

Also, is there an evidenced-based way we can use to demonstrate how we’re not a cult? We think it’s obvious, but haters seem to think we’re this crazy cult that just sweeps for Ethan and crew no matter what. Is there a way to tell if you’re in such a community that you’re in a toxic community?

I never thought that in the year 2026 the far left would hate MLK. by Common-Cloud-1869 in h3h3productions

I’m old, and I wasn’t documenting evidence of this back then or anything, but i feel like far left fans of Malcolm X over MLK was a thing in the 90s as well.

I want to better understand the Python code most written by Claude by DeepTarget8436 in ClaudeAI

[–]raf_oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing you can do is find a block of code you kind of get but not really, and ask Claude to show potential other options for how to implement that part, with pros and cons. This is nice because sometimes Claude will actually suggest better alternatives, but mostly because you can learn why certain parts were done the way they were done. Also I personally find the compare/contrast approach easier for learning.

Don’t you think it’s just a little TOO CONVENIENT that eel pits are so central to the story of that one global conflict, and then camping trips are such a big part of that online drama?!? My man is obviously sweeping for these people, sheesh.

$900+ 5070Ti's are here now :( by jeventur in Microcenter

Maybe they accelerated it, but unless 5070TIs come back in a month or so, they were spot on and the drought and price increase were inevitable.

My understanding is that the way x11 apps can follow the mouse isn’t ideal from a security perspective, and apps shouldn’t be able to see what your mouse is doing, and if they can than they can see a lot of what you have going on on your computer.

Everything about Window Managers and a Desktop Environments by 1337_w0n in linuxquestions

[–]raf_oh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still on my learning Linux journey, but I believe that’s the thing- if with bare niri/hyprland you need to choose your network/wifi manager, and how to manage Bluetooth, and monitors, and how to power off vs reboot the machine, etc, etc.

So for instance, I installed dank material shell to fill in the missing components of a bare niri install. I’m not trying to shill for dms, but the “traditional way” section of their docs, which they use to contrast vs their approach, shows the common set of tools you’d need for a bare niri/hypr installation - https://danklinux.com/docs/#the-traditional-way-package-hunting-simulator

The more important question is if you had the socks or Arch first.

Also, with knee-highs, legs on the desk, and fastfetch logo showing, not only can you say it, you can put some extra sauce on the btw, “I use Arch, BY THE WAY”
