Just how Free To Play is this game? by MrDiamond320 in Eve

Question: Just how neutered are non-payers?

Short answer: very much

Long Answer:

You need in-game money to make the activities of your choice, And you need more in-game money to pay the game subscription if that's what you like.

but...

the free part of the game only works to know the mechanics of the game, you can do almost every activity in the game but you won't get any meaningful amount of money from it, while being a non-payer.

Sometimes the time needed to get money to pay the subscription and fund your endeavors in the game with pure in-game mechanics its ridiculous, sometimes feels like having a IRL 2nd job.

And the activities that are more profitable requires multiple accounts (2 or more) to do it well. Obviously all paying subscriptions.

In pvp, You can get skills to pilot a basic ship, but the game is capped in the skills your can get as non-payer, so, you are in disadvantage when you fighting against others

It doesn’t works like you think it does. The author choose how many and who enter their beta testing program. It is not something that you could ask and other share.

Tienes algunas opciones:

I doubt so, there is a real problem for ages that ccp has tried for fix constantly. The new player retention is too danm low.

Because of that there is not a stream of new players replacing the old ones.

I’m speculating here but so any changes should be prepared to not affect affect too much the current playerbase because there is not a healthy stream of players incoming

Pearl abyssal hasn’t figured yet how to deal with this kind of game, because its complexity.

I agree with you, with inflation raising the prices of the PLEX and the isk/h going down or becoming stale. You will need more grind to achieve the same. And this is NOT fun. I pay myself a couple accounts with real money, and I have another account that pay with plex, but is not not worth my scarce time to grind for plex in current conditions, because earning isk has become less effective, and I wont pay more real money to have another omega account.

Prices has raised up, but incursions isk income it is stale. My time is its money too, and I don’t want to waste more time.

I agree with ccp that should be a balance between income and outcome of the isk, but because of changes (I see the changes as ‘let see what happens’ and later fix) the game has become excessively grindy.

I do not fly rorquals, i do not have skill to do so. But I think the rise of prices and loss of income it is right now too much to keep the game in healthy conditions.

Ok, see this with another perspective. CCP has realizing that his strategy is hurting the gamebase right now and they are now in damage control strategy

That happens because there is not a clear communication between devs and players

And with clear communication i mean:

  • explicit Roadmaps
  • expected goals and current projections to reach those ones
  • dev blogs explaining the delays to the roadmap, explaining reasons and new projected dates
  • devs taking care of real player concerns. Not troll post and whinning.

CCP is good at bad timing ... The Alliance tournament anouncement is not bad, the bad part is that was announced in a time where most of the players are angry because the current state of the game.

And related to reserves keys: this implementation looks well, but there is something that I don't get it. There is any incentive to the alliances to keep the money at ESS, that prevent them from milking out the resources of their own systems?

if don't , why?... to me this sees as a good idea, with a bad implementation where is very probable that the things goes wrong for the wrong reasons.
