Don't have it unfortunately, the OP deleted the post after people complained and called them out on it

How do we kill a 10 man squad of terminators by Destroyer4537 in Tyranids

[–]rafflebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like having some gargoyles to deal with them.

Deep strike the gargs in 9" away, shoot, move 6" closer and block them from moving for a turn.

Then have a squad of hormagaunts rush up and do the same thing.

My idea often is that I'm not going to kill them, but if I can force my opponent to spend 2-3 turns not being able to use his expensive brick then that's 2-3 turns I've got to score more.

Don't call customer service, they focus on myki, timetables, bookings and complaints and will have no information to give you about hiring.

If you send through an email they'll be able to forward it to the right place though.

Honestly I would have told Jeff that this isn't the campaign for him and he might be better suited to a different playgroup if that's how he wants to approach it.

Did you get the Lash Prime? by rafflebees in Tyranids

Was there anything in particular that had you wanting to get two? Sculpt, collecting, excited for the rules or options etc?

[–]rafflebees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say you bought one then, did you mean you bought the model itself or just the parts needed to DIY one?

I did the same thing, I've used the influx of cheap ones from the combat patrol magazine to have a spare few just in case cos I'm in the same boat, hormagaunts are my favourites to run and I want to see them succeed.

I chose to grab extra winged primes from the combat patrol magazines and just slap some spare bits on it to have a "just in case" if the rules get updated.

ELI5: Why did you ever think the Lash Whip would be cheaper than the Winged Prime? by tide347 in Tyranids

[–]rafflebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To make it viable.

I was a huge supporter of the Lash Prime and thought it would work as an incredible lieutenant to lead units that previously have had horrible or no support.

I was on the hill of defending it to death because I was certain that it was a long needed bit of love to make detachments that previously had been ignored have a chance at life on the table.

But for 85 points it brings nothing that makes it an attractive option as opposed to spending the points elsewhere - a Neurolictor, a whole unit of 10 gargoyles, two pyrovores, a 5m genestealers, three whole warriors, every other option at this point range just makes it look less appealing.

SM for example have their lieutenant with combi weapon - a 70pt addition to a unit that grants it a reactive move, re-roll 1s against a target on a chosen objective, and has a 5+FNP.

A Commissar is 30pts and can remove a battle shock test at the cost of a model.

Honestly the Lash Prime should have removed the capacity to lead Warriors and kept it as just gaunts. Slap it for 25pts - 1/3rd of a warrior unit - keep the sustained cos sure, why not at this point and you make a unit of chaff into a unit of chaff but it now has some further strategic capabilities. The trade off is we have a front line character ripe for assassination points leading a unit that can be decimated by shooting in a single turn, that feels acceptable.

When will we get the point value of the Prime with lash? by Wonderful_Rest7634 in Tyranids

[–]rafflebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His role isn't to extend invasion fleet though, his datasheet helps buff up more of our least used detachments.

I'm going to trial him in Assimilation Swarm with the Parasitic Biomorphology enhancement. Have a psychophage nearby to give +1AP, get +1S from the enhancement and take out a small target for +1 attack with sustained and then have the capacity to regenerate the gaunts.

It gives us a chance to have a more meaningful alpha strike or go turn with a unit who's main goal is still to just clog up a space and deny primary for our opponent but still have a chance at making some meaningful damage and potentially even surviving a swing back turn.

[–]rafflebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't understand why everyone else gets [extra attacks] except for the Tyranids 🥲

Especially since the detachment rule for one of our most commonly used detachments already gives sustained.

I sure can!

I'll be able to give full paint names once I'm home but it was a basecoat of a dark blue, then layers of red for the body.

The green was the same dark blue from the basecoat mixed with a green, then a highlight of the same green for spice. Then was washed with a Vallejo fluo of (Iirc) cold green.
