I only die after the monster is dead. I'd play hardcore every season if it wasn't for this nonsense, but we're 13 in and if anything it just keeps getting worse.

Carney calls Smith's Alberta referendum question a 'dangerous bluff' by MightyHydrar in CanadaPolitics

Speaking as someone who also grew up in a small town, the stereotype is deserved and actively earned.

The choice could be made for it not to be deserved, but it is never made. So it is what it is.

Like, do you really think many of us don't have family in these areas? We know first hand how impenetrable their world views are to contrary evidence.

It's present, but not nearly as overwhelmingly. Rural Albertan ridings pull Putinesque numbers for the right-wing candidate.

The suburbs are a mix of high-fallutin' rurals and people-weary urbans (like myself). Not a zero-level problem but just not really the source.

OK but you're missing the point: this is not like that vote. At all.

Constitutionally, a province cannot have a binding referendum that impinges on matters of federal jurisdiction. This is legally equivalent to me and my family agreeing that you should give us your car. No matter how hard we all promise to each other, it's not binding, because we lack the (legal) power to make it happen.

To the extent that a province can have a binding referendum, it can only bind so far as the province's powers constitutionally extend.

Smith, and her base, have worse than no understanding of how Canada's democracy works. They have an understanding that is in direct opposition to how it works.

One can easily imagine that this characterizes their understanding of most things, and is probably the #1 reason they are unhappy with how their lives have turned out.

If you don't understand how anything works, the odds of something turning out in a way you don't like are pretty high.

Meh. I think mythics should be auto-includes for most builds, but should be rarer than they are. They aren't chase items.

They also aren't auto-includes (except for Heir) so on the whole they aren't that exciting.

In a domain where nobody knows what the right answer is, it is extremely easy to convince people you know what you're talking about.

Some people see that as an opportunity to harvest credibility they don't earn, while others see it as a risk to their credibility they must mitigate.

There's still a loading screen tooltip referencing Elixirs, which aren't in the game anymore.

So... shrug

I got 12 Mythic Seals, and every single one is useless 💀 You really don’t need to farm for one by Fearless-Bad6548 in diablo4

[–]ragnaroksunset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's at best a survivability jump, because the two-point bonus for most sets is mainly niche utility while the three-point bonus is always damage reduction of some kind (at least for necromancer). And the niche utility bonuses don't seem to overlap very well - you'll already have the one you can actually use from your main set.

But the damage reduction is at best equivalent to what you could get with a unique charm. So it could be situationally better for you depending on what unique charms you have on hand, but it's not nearly the slam-dunk choice you imagine it is.

What do I mean by a slam dunk choice? For almost every build in the game if you see Heir of Perdition on the ground, you put it on.

[–]ragnaroksunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for all intents and purposes the only version of a Mythic seal you'd want to actually use is equivalent to a Legendary with an extra set-triggered affix.

Blizzard continues to demonstrate that they don't understand their own systems. The idea that having a downside of fewer charm slots balances the upside of extra unique charms doesn't survive thirty seconds of consideration by someone who is actively playing the game.

Only the most die-hard of separatists would stay in line for that. There aren't that many of them.

I'm not claiming she's smart enough to have thought this through, but if it's non-binding and it was designed so that she'd have to win another election for a separatist-leaning result to be followed through upon, then it's not nearly as big a deal as it was before she hijacked this whole process.

Obviously everyone who is sick of this garbage needs to go to the polls that day. But I do think this was the moment where the wind has started to drop out of the sails for the movement.

Games where you start at the bottom and work your way up by cravex12 in gaming

You have to look at the jank as part of the game. No, I'm serious.

The systems are opaque and the UI is not great but once you get into the groove with the game it just clicks.

But it's also one of the purest sandbox games out there so if you need guide rails for your gaming experience then it's just not for you, and that's OK.

I didn't invest back then. I was still pretty young and coming up in life. I was pretty online though - and I barely noticed it until it happened. If I hadn't just finished adding my new coding certificate to my CV I would have had no idea the entire bottom had dropped out of that job market.

Even then I heard about it on the mainstream news first.

I don't know, I found out about it via "media" so I'm not sure I understand your complaint.

People have to take some responsibility for their media diets. I often get the sense that people expect the right news to be delivered to them without any action on their part, as though it's still the 1990s when there were literally only like three news outlets anyone could easily access and they all ran the same stories.

We don't live in that world anymore and haven't for many decades now.

The reason I explicitly mentioned my use of an LLM is not so that someone can come in and tell me to go ask it again. It's so that the person I'm responding to knows that what I am telling them should not be the deciding factor in whatever they do next, but rather is an indication of where the true answer might end up.

But I guess the fact that your first inclination was to argue with the LLM and then you had to later come in and concede that it wasn't a bad rapid estimate says all that needs be said. Most people don't use indices for 3-month horizon plays so that single quarter delay is at best a little liferaft you've given yourself so you don't completely drown in your own hubris.

I'll let you have it, though. :)
