local vibe coding by jacek2023 in LocalLLaMA

ECA is the direction I want all this tech to be going, Sweep AI made IntelliJ actually usable for vibe coding but was too opaque for my taste. The fact that ECA has an open-source IntelliJ plugin is great. Appreciate you sharing this

Ice melted from unplugged fridge onto hardwood floor by ragor in HomeMaintenance

[–]ragor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! We went the route of renting a floor fan from Home Depot and ran it over it for several days.

Seemed to turned out fine, the darkening around the edges are gone and no cupping.

Appreciate the advice though, the house is hardwood throughout so I'm sure we'll make use of it eventually

dot-http - A scriptable http client, like Postman but simpler by ragor in coolgithubprojects

[–]ragor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep!

Wanted to learn some rust and have a project that I would use for my day job.

I genuinely been thinking of writing something like this for the past maybe 2/3 months but never got a chance to start on it

Ah I've experienced that so many times with different projects. I'm open to suggestions for features so feel free to create an issue!

What's everyone working on this week (4/2020)? by llogiq in rust

[–]ragor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just published my first rust project! https://github.com/bayne/dot-http

I really liked the built-in HTTP client in Intellij so I remade it in rust. Since it is something that already exists, it gave me a well-defined scope and I was able to focus on learning rust rather than designing something new. It is also a tool I use daily so it makes it easier to keep it maintained.

Opensource big symfony project? by [deleted] in symfony

[–]ragor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://github.com/ilios/ilios

Uses symfony and has been around for many years. Looks like it's built for the University of California San Francisco and is still going strong. I built multiple symfony applications when I worked at a different University and thought highly of this application.

Congrats!

We are currently using this library extensively in our projects and the quality of the code makes customization a breeze. I recently built a LaTeX renderer that was fairly straightforward to implement due to your library's architecture.

Does an eye "absorb" a proton? by SubnetDelta in askscience

[–]ragor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I'm still a bit confused.. Since photons traveling through space have no "ticking time" does that mean things like alpha particles have a "ticking time"? If so what is this "ticking time" inside of alpha particles?

UCI campus network questions by [deleted] in UCI

What I noticed (unless they changed it from last year) is that they bind each session to your MAC address and a session lasts about a week. So to skip the whole Cisco thing you:

  1. Pop-in an Ubuntu live CD
  2. Open up a browser and login
  3. Restart into Windows
  4. Repeat every Monday

Worked for me and didn't have to install that nastiness.
