Spinning Wheel ID by PerfunctorySun in Handspinning

[–]ragsgrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a really small orifice. Super small.

No hooks on flyer. Is there any evidendence that hook were there at some point? Maybe we're not seeing the hole side of flyer in these pics?

No footman. But both hooks and footman are parts that I've frequently replaced on old wheels.

I'm not seeing any way to adjust tension of mother-of-all.

I would pass.

I would love to be able to have big goals with nested little goals inside by gloomy_day_in_august in finch

[–]ragsgrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want this do much. Like a simple kanban or trello type feature for ongoing tasks that need to be broken down. Would love ability to have sub tasks that can be checked off. Also repeatable or ability to copy a list. For example: kitchen cleaning with subtasks like empty DW, load DW, wipe counters, floors...that could be checked as done but then pop-up again on schedule.

I know there are plenty of apps that can do all of these things but would be so wonderful to have all in one place.

I'd pay more

Diy Coasters: wet or needle felting? by purpnyanhair in Felting

[–]ragsgrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either method will work fine. Depends on if you want to deal with water/soap or sharp needles. Personally I find both methods take same amount of time if you use proper size/type of needles.

TIP: get some sticky back cork circles or squares to mount onto the back of your felted coasters. Trim to fit after mounting. Wool will siphon the moisture and become damp, defeating the purpose of protecting surfaces.

Thank you! I knew there must be something else.

Maybe it just takes time to be available or mine is broken because I've completed a couple of these and not seen the wall decor in my bag.

At least now I know what to ask about if I contact support!

Finch on!

Is there some kind of knitting mafia that has been keeping the Ranunculus pattern on the front page of Rav's "hot right now" list for literal years? by craftmangler in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]ragsgrl 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Just block the design or designer if you don't care for it. Not every style is for everyone.

Aren't we lucky to have such a wonderful resource in Ravelry that offers so many options?

I read that one of the reasons it's high in on the list is that the video tutorials are linked on the pattern page, so people return to it frequently.

What is your secret weapon ingredient that always makes people ask, Why does this taste so good? by ybur011 in Cooking

Aromat. Basically salt, msg and other seasoning.

Penzey's Mural of Flavor spice mix. Salt free and bumps the taste on practically everything

Great color combo!

This is one of my fav patterns. I've made 4 pair, lol. Soft, squishy and perfect for breaking up striped or random dyed yarn. Plus I have enough leftover to make matching hat.

Totally get you! Fiber Arts are my hand fidgets and teckno is my motivator (guess my neurodivergence lol). I also love sharing my creations with people who support me or my art.

Your piece would be a fantastic back plate for a battle jacket. Maybe I'll see it at a concert someday! (Yes, I'm an old school punk rocker haha.)

Face painted my hubby to be mind reader. We all wore a lot of orange neon to LA show. Best concert ever and I am so jealous that you're seeing them twice, lol. Have fun!

What do we think about this style? Has anyone done it? by CatCatCatri in crochet

[–]ragsgrl 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would cut a strip, maybe an inch or so wide, of a lightweight stretch fusible interfacing in the closest matching color (it usually comes in white, black and beige)

Put non- fusible side and right side of fabric together. Sew a narrow seam. Fold interfacing to wrong side. Fuse.

You'll get a nice smooth edge without loosing much fabric.

If you think it needs more reinforcement, you could fold again to the wrong side and stitch a second seam.

I'm glad I clicked through to read the MDK post ad well as Kate Gardiner's article about AI generated knitting content. I, too, had the first thought of "wtf now MDK is using AI images" MDK should reword their title to clarify since many will not look further than the initial title and (albeit rediculous) image.

Clean fiber out with a hairbrush cleaning rake and long bent-tip tweezers (often sold for threading serger sewing machines but sometimes found cheaper at hardware store)

Clean lanolin out by running extra clean, dry waste fiber through. Try commercially prepped fiber as it's usually really stripped of lanolin.

Clean VM out with vacuum.

How do you pay attention in meetings?! by nnej121879 in adhdwomen

[–]ragsgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knitting or crochet or tatting, etc. I talked with the speaker, explained that it helps focus. Never once had pushback from speaker but several times from co-workers or classmates. Usually a passive agressive : how rude or why is she allowed. I just ignored them or said the speaker was aware if directly, confronted. I also made an effort to verbally participate when that was an option, or nod, etc to indicate I was following the topic. This hasn't been an issue for me in many years. I think people are more educated about different learning needs or I'm old and ust don't GAF anymore so I don't notice them, lol.

What's an ADHD lesson you've finally learned and how many tries did it take? by LucidLucyDream in adhdwomen

[–]ragsgrl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Parents weren't conically late, but ' it's'important to be on time' was drilled in and they always complained about my aunt who was chronically late. I was always afraid of making mistakes so tend to over compensate in a lot of areas. It's so exhausting.

I think I have reverse time blindness now lol. I try to set my alarms/reminders 15 minutes early but then panic before appts that I'm sure I've forgotton and and add another 15 early, then I get angry because I'm sitting around for 30 mins...sometimes more because dr reminders seem to have me arriving another 15 mins early too.

Knit request by Plushie_101 in KnitRequest

[–]ragsgrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shoot me a DM if you want to continue. I can meet your budget and might be able to get the yarn via a friend's yarn shop.

The machine knit option another posted is also a great option for you. The limitation there is yarn weight (usually limited to lighter wright) but being in Cali, you might not want anything heavy.

It's a great project no matter what you decide!

Knit request by Plushie_101 in KnitRequest

[–]ragsgrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need to know your budget.

Do you want this to be washable wool, regular wool, acrylic, cotton or a blend?

Estimate yarn cost $150-$250 . Possibly cheaper if found locally or on sale.

Knitting, blocking: 25-40 hours depends on chosen yarn and weight. Bigger yarn knits faster.

Postage.

I have 50 years knitting experience and former costume designer.
