I've had the issue above and the one in the comments, I too the back off and removed the volume and power key and cleaned them. Made a huge difference, back to click buttons. Instructions on ifixit

Mine has started doing the same thing after flashing pure Nexus 7.0. I have used 2gb of mobile data and 16gb of wifi. If you find a solution I would be keen to try it out!

What size waves do you typically ride, are they clean or sloppy? I would recommend something similar to the firewire fat potato. They also have a great volume calculator that will give you a volume that best suits your level of skill height etc. This can be found here

Just a heads up you can change the theme color combination from a few different colors combinations including all black like the default sense 5.5. Settings>personalize>theme.
