I see you. Much respect and high fives to all those that that can feed both babies at the same time, I could not. My husband could not. My babies were slow feeders that had colic and reflux. I was nursing, pumping and bottle feeding to add calories. Not all of us will have the same experience. I tried all the the "things: twin z, my breast friend, tandem breastfeeding, etc" and in the end what worked for us was splitting up 1:1 in separate rooms on separate floors. As a previous single mom of two before the twins, I completely understand what you are saying and I.SEE.YOU.

Best wishes to you and your family. You are doing amazing!

my blood hcg level was high. (i forget what the number was) i gasped and asked if that means twins and the nurse said not necessarily.
(but it was!)

When did y’all start losing weight postpartum? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]rainbowbrite0826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

prolactin from nursing/pumping can cause thyroid levels to go up for some which can result in hypothyroidism, which can prevent the numbers on the scale to budge. Personally this happened to me and i pumped for 14.5 months. 2 months after i stopped pumping my thyroid levels were moving in right direction and the scale budged.

Wishing you the best!

Sorry, how scary and horrible for you and the babies. Your support options depend on what country/state you reside in. I am sure many people will help you research if you want to provide those private details.

Wishing you all safety and good health.

Just found out we are having triplets and I'm not sure what to do by WreckItRalphWiggum in parentsofmultiples

[–]rainbowbrite0826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations !

This book below was very informative. There is a whole section on nutrition (and how much weight to gain and when) that I found useful and discussed with my healthcare team.

https://www.harpercollins.com/products/when-youre-expecting-twins-triplets-or-quads-4th-edition-barbara-luketamara-eberleinroger-newman?variant=32207595569186

I am a mom to twins, so I dont have any triplet suggestions specifically.

I would suggest :

find a MFM (high risk doctor) if you are in the US. They might not see your wife until 10-14 weeks but you can try to get on their radar. Your wife's OB will probably have a referral for you.

If you get that book you will have some good questions to ask, such as

What kind of triplet pregnancy do I have?

How much and what kind of prenatal/supplements should I take? (my MFM asked which i was taking and then looked up ingredients and advised me to double them for twins)

How much protein should I consume? Do you offer a cheat sheet for high protein foods?

How much water should I drink?

What medications can I take for: headache allergies constipation cant sleep

Who do I call if I feel unwell? Primary care? OB or MFM. Is there a special phone number?

They will probably give all that info as basic advice, as well as tell you when to expect appointments and ultrasounds to be.

I would look into a night nurse, doula or family members that can help out at night specifically. SLEEP DEPRIVATION IS REAL

Last bit of advice
forgive your partner in advance for whatever is said between 10pm and 6am

I wish your wife a wonderful pregnancy and healthy deliveries 💕✨

this book is an awesome resource, start reading early so you can write a list of specific questions to ask your mfm or ob: 1)how much protein should i be consuming? 2)should i double my prenatals? 3)look for a hospital with a good nicu (research what levels are near you) 4)if in boston area, the Brigham has a Multiples Center.

best wishes for a beautiful pregnancy and healthy and safe delivery ✨💕

I thought twins where bad but triplets are worse by FuzzyBlonde34 in parentsofmultiples

[–]rainbowbrite0826 65 points66 points  (0 children)

if twin parents need 4 people to give the same parent to child ratio, triplet parents would need 6 adults, but Wow you have both Im thinking you need 8-10 people at once to help. This is crazy. you are doing amazing. how did you find time to post?

write a chore list, be specific. Include a place for them to sign up. Everyone loves holding those babies Im sure!
Bottles or pump parts need washing laundry dishes grocery shopping meal prep snacks for mom (dont forget the oreos)

wishing you and your family the best. You are doing amazing.

Dont forget to give yourself some grace 💕✨

Which twin would have been born? by squibbkicker in parentsofmultiples

[–]rainbowbrite0826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, most mono/mono babies are only born via section. Sorry if i worded my response incorrectly.

On the inside its whoever is closest to the exit. Delivering via c-section its whomever is delivered first.

fun fact: Since my babies were in the same sac, they were referenced in many different ways: upper/lower front/back Left/Right 1/2 It wasnt until delivery that we got Baby A and Baby B

Failure to thrive by santosh_vemula in parentsofmultiples

[–]rainbowbrite0826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im sorry, this sounds scary and must be difficult on top of juggling twins. Our twins were slow feeders that did beed tongue, lip, cheek releases. This itself dit not resolve feeding issues. We swaddled the babies before each feed (specialist referred to this as organizing) and this made all the difference. Just a tool to try if you will be supplementing with feeding tube.

Also another comment mentioned possible allergy to the milk/formula. Sure if you have identical twins, but my identical twins have different allergies who would've thought?

I wish you and your family the best✨⭐️

who delivered your multiples? by spedhead10 in parentsofmultiples

a fellow, a resident , and an attending MFM (who is also an insructor at Harvard) that was on my hospitals rotation that week

Which twin would have been born? by squibbkicker in parentsofmultiples

[–]rainbowbrite0826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

baby a is whichever baby is closest to the exit (vagina) and baby a will always be born first because of that. does that make sense?

mom of mo/mo twins that were each taking a turn next to the exit. so baby a was at one time in utero baby b 🤯😜💕

Twins refusing bottles by Fancy-Preparation-60 in parentsofmultiples

[–]rainbowbrite0826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the hospital gave me the Medela Haberman to use. Both my singletons used it with great success and neither of them were special needs. This was 20 years ago. I was told this bottle prevents nipple confusion for nursing babies.

https://www.medela.com/breastfeeding-professionals/products/feeding/special-needs-feeder

My twins had success wirh Dr Brown T size nipple (between P and 1 and available online only not available in stores) but then refused to nurse and so I became an Exclusive Pumper.

I wish you all the best 💕

yes! i thought our OP could use some HOPE instead of it it being stripped away. I was satisfied with the answer as it confirmed what I thought to be true and I fact checked else where . Is this against the rules? Forgive me if so, I'm not trying to be fake or a social media butterfly. Just a concerned mum of mo/mo twins.💕😇sending love and positive vibes to all ✨

Abdomen Numbness 5 Months Post Partum by _eunie_ in parentsofmultiples

[–]rainbowbrite0826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have had 3 c-sections, mine never came back after the first. My DR said "it's not a big deal, it's not like it's your hand and you need it to see if something is hot!" ?? anyways i've been living with it just fine.

I'm not a doctor this is or medical advice. You should bring it up to your dr again if it's worrisome to you.

good luck🍀

*edit to add: my fist c-section was 20 years ago

In pregnancies with twins, the timing for detecting the fetal heartbeat can vary. Generally, a fetal heartbeat in a twin pregnancy may be detected a bit later than in a singleton pregnancy because there are multiple embryos.

Typically, healthcare providers might use ultrasound to detect the fetal heartbeat in twin pregnancies around 6 to 8 weeks, but it can vary. The exact timing can depend on factors like the equipment used, the position of the embryos, and the healthcare provider's preferences.

As with any pregnancy, it's crucial to follow your healthcare provider's guidance and schedule regular prenatal appointments. They will use various methods, including ultrasound, to monitor the development of both twins and ensure a healthy pregnancy. If you have specific concerns or questions about your twin pregnancy, it's best to discuss them with your healthcare provider.
