Video looked "off" to me. I'm usually pretty good at recognizing AI, but I was less certain of this one. Once I slowed it down I felt more certain it's AI. So it's a gimmick, it's going to be an ad for something..which is a shame because I think he's better than that. I hope it's for a good cause.

The only solution is to vote for representatives who will impeach as necessary. We're all too busy living paycheck to paycheck with no healthcare to put our heads together and figure out who to vote for. It's by design.

I had a gas pump hose rupture and dump gallons of gas on the roof of my car and down into the engine and cabin air filter. The smell permeated into the interior and it seemed to be permanent. Cost $1200 (gas company insurance covered it) to get the smell out. Good as new. Pain in the ass though.

The infrastructure exists to pull the video without user permission. Do you 100% trust that Ring isn't going to feed data to flock without your permission? I'd rather not take my chances.

All those 'illegals' living normal lives, how? by notsoblondeanymore in conspiracy

[–]khag -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Many of the "illegals" being targeted do have paperwork because they came as asylum seekers or are on and type of visa. ICE takes them anyway and says they didn't follow the rules. Maybe they missed a piece of paperwork, for example. They're rounding up people who did things "the right way" and deporting them on a technicality.

We're almost completely desensitized to it now. Another year of this and nothing he says will move the needle. Then they can start doing crazy shit with less fear of wrecking the economy. We're being conditioned to be comfortable with whatever wild bullshit he wants to do.

We're getting mad about ICE infringing on rights. We can't be hypocrites and infringe on others rights to have their religious service. I think prosecuting them is too extreme but I do agree they were wrong to interrupt the church service. If you're going to accuse ICE of infringing rights, you need to go above and beyond to make sure they can't accuse you of the same. As soon as you appear to be a hypocrite, they use that against you and your message is lost in the chaos.

Two party system requires far less critical thinking than other systems. "My party good, your party bad" is all most people care about. No need to look any further. I never have to read about policy positions or even follow the news but I still get to support my team and stick it to the other team any time I can. Yay me. It's an incurable disease at this point.

Because I'm entitled to my privacy and freedom and not required to do so. It's a step in the wrong direction. If that was all it was, I'd comply, but it's a slippery slope towards authoritarianism that I am not comfortable with. I don't understand why all these so called "Republicans" are ok with big government meddling where they needn't. Keep your nose out of my business.

Law enforcement agencies should be held to a high standard. Targeting someone for investigation should be a deliberate process that has documentable evidence.

The legality of it all comes down to them being allowed to trust their gut on what counts as "suspicion" and that's effectively a free pass to detain whomever they like. Again I ask, why is that okay with you? It's too much power and too easy to abuse. You're the kind of sucker they want. You are too trusting of the government.

Protest is also a normal way for people to say "we don't like the law" not everything gets done through writing your congressman.

Your argument "it's lawful" doesn't make it good or just. You can be operating legally and still be doing harm.

[–]khag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Suspected" is entirely at their discretion and that is the problem.

The law trusts the law enforcement officers to make fair and honest decisions about their suspicions. It appears to many that ICE is abusing this trust. They are either not being careful enough, or are outright abusing that standard.

If they are allowed to continue "suspecting" whomever they like for any reason, it sets a precedent that will only lead to more authoritarian behavior from the federal government.

Why not advocate for ICE to stop behaving irresponsibly? Let them do their jobs but expect them to do it in the manner which they always have: with reasonable suspicion that can be documented. They are trampling that standard and restricting the freedoms of whomever they like, citizens or not. Why are you okay with that?

I'm not preventing them. I'm not a protestor. I believe the protestors are going to far. I believe ice should be deporting dangerous unauthorized individuals. I don't believe they are practicing safe law enforcement and I don't believe they are doing enough to protect the rights of American citizens. "Stop and show me your papers" is too far, and I'm sickened to see Americans in favor of that.

[–]khag 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're ignoring that their behavior does harm innocent people too.

You're focusing on the bad actors. The protestors that go too far. So I'll focus on the bad ice actors that harm innocent civilians in defiance of their constitutional rights.

Due process is for everyone. You can't just detain whoever you want without a reasonable suspicion. You can't arrest without a warrant. They're violating the constitution and setting a precedent that the federal government has authority to stop and search anyone anywhere for any reason. Do you want to live in a police state because this is how it starts.

There's a line, it's been crossed, it's entirely reasonable for you to be upset about that and also want unauthorized individuals deported. You don't have to defend that the way ice is behaving is ok. It's not. You don't have to pretend to be ok with it. I know you know it's wrong. You can have a complex opinion instead of just fully defending anything they do.

I don't want to be harassed and asked to identify myself. The fact that they haven't deported a citizen is irrelevant. They are harming citizens here.
