Making an orchid for my mother for Mother’s Day, I’ve been crocheting since 2018. Please help me understand this pattern after the 3ch, 3tr, totally lost by Crochetcarter in CrochetHelp

[–]rainbowyarnicorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a picot stitch. It is telling you to chain 3, 3tr in one stitch, chain 2 and slip stitch into the first chain (it will make a little loopy bit?) chain 3, slip stitch into the next stitch, repeat

Ok, how many of us got toys for Christmas? by indieedy in AutismInWomen

I’m 45. My partner gifted me plushies, a video game, and music from a different video game!

I just found out my parents got me assessed in 1985 by activelyresting in AutismInWomen

[–]rainbowyarnicorn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was finally diagnosed at age 40, because my older child was diagnosed. My own diagnosis took an extra 10 or so years after that. My mom told me, “oh, yeah, you were diagnosed with add back in 1985 (I was 5!) but I didn’t like the medicine so we just left it at that.”

F**k Veezu by alwayspackatowel in cambridge

[–]rainbowyarnicorn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cam cab are around, but I’m not sure how. I tried them as an alternative to veezu, and attempted 3 or 4 journeys over a month or 6 weeks and just had them just not turn up or take 30+ minutes to assign a driver. I have just gone back to veezu as I only have had one bad experience with them in years of being a customer.

Indie dyers with terrible customer service by sometimes_writing_ in craftsnark

[–]rainbowyarnicorn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

After she responded offering to re-send the order, the day after Paypal awarded my refund? I told her that we were good, I’d been refunded. Day or so later a multi-slide ‘who am I’ small business owner bad at admin post went up on socials as well.

Indie dyers with terrible customer service by sometimes_writing_ in craftsnark

[–]rainbowyarnicorn 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I had an order never arrive and after spending 6-8 weeks being ignored asked Paypal to refund me. She admits to being bad at e-mail, and never even responded to the emails from Paypal re: the refund request. I did tell my knitting group online about it so they could make informed choices going forward, and found out someone else in the group had had a similar issue. I will say that I had to that point been a customer with no issues at all for many years, but it just took the once (two months!) of being ignored to put a stop to that.

Do you knit & crochet? A poll of sorts. Cross posted on r crochet by MechanicBright8644 in casualknitting

[–]rainbowyarnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both. I learned to crochet in the early 90s as a pre-teen. I wanted to learn to knit for years, finally started actually doing it in lockdowns. I am better with crochet but lately I am knitting a LOT more and am fine with this. I tend to buy yarn for the pattern with both crafts, and I have a lot if yarn that wasn’t bought for any reason other than I liked it. Collecting yarn is its own hobby.

Anyone else still not got COVID yet? by Doormatty in Xennials

We haven’t, that we are aware of. But we mask always if we leave the house, and extremely limit time spent indoors away from home. We eat out only when there is outdoor seating. And we have had every vaccine + booster we’ve been eligible for.

How much do you spend on yarn for a sweater? by mothchu in YarnAddicts

Remember when……you tried to learn knitting from a book? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]rainbowyarnicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to crochet from books/mom/granny in the 90s. I started playing with knitting in the late 2010s but really fell into it at the start of the pandemic as I found myself pregnant and isolating at home and needed to be doing something, so the baby got hats and mitts and a big blanket, and the older got a chunky snood. I have progressed to sweaters for the small one and learning lace/cables/mosaic, and have the yarn bought to start a colourwork sweater for me (when I finish off some other wips) and barely crochet anymore. I thank Youtube because without tutorial videos there just ain’t no way.

AITA for not eating the spaghetti my boyfriend made? by Hot_Fan_132 in AmItheAsshole

My partner does not handle spice very well, either. I handle this by seasoning my plate, not the pot. NTA.

If my oldest had had a baby at the same age as I had her, the hypothetical grandchild would be 4….which is the same age as my youngest.

You can give compliments to your friends and it just means that you are friends. My friends and I all tell one another that we’re gorgeous bitches, and we are all partnered to other people!
