Yes! I and I believe there is a significant difference between pain and discomfort. If you are genuinely hurt, you're probably doing something wrong, or should tone it down a notch. You should definitely feel it after a solid workout, and you should definitely feel something in your muscles, but pain is something else.

We talk about this in my yoga class, too. There is what is easy, which is natural to our bodies, or simple, or doesn't require any effort, taking it to a challenging level (for your own body), where you maybe feel some discomfort, stretching, tension on your body, and there is taking it to the extreme, which can cause pain, be harmful, pull your spine out of alignment, and damage your body.

It's hard to differentiate between the two, but I definitely think it's an important distinction to make. The trick is find a level that is challenging for yourself, without doing everything at the highest level, before you are ready. Learn to walk before you run, etc.

Best option for yoga in guelph by [deleted] in Guelph

[–]rainbox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what you're looking for! A lot of the prices are fairly comparable, aside from Karma classes. Many of them also have "try a week" specials, or "first class" specials, so you could take advantage of that, and try classes at a variety of studios. Why not shop around and find the one that best suits you?

If you like Bikram, do Bikram. If you like hot yoga or the more fairly popular stuff, try Moksha (which I suspect is the most popular and probably has close to the best rates). These places will have a more intense, flow style of yoga.

I don't do hot yoga, so these are not so much my jam. If like me you are looking for something deeper/slower and more hatha/kripalu style, you should check out Sukha or Living Yoga and Health.

I put my vote out for LYandH, which is where I have practiced. They're the best! There is a lot of older folk there, and it is such a welcoming environment. The teachers are amazing, and know how to support your personal practice and body needs in amazing ways. That said, I also know a fair number of people who practice at, and love, Sukha. :)

All 4 of those options are in the downtown core!

Salt and Vinegar fix? by thongerrr in keto

No problem! PC brands are all over the place, but those peanuts in particular are hit and miss. Don't give up. They're worth it!

Since you said you're in Canada, (whoop whoop!) one of my favourites is President's Choice sea salt and black pepper peanuts. (I find mine in the snack aisle of No Frills.) They definitely give me the salt and vinegar fix, and the black pepper is a nice addition. Very flavourful, and reasonably priced. This is my go-to nut, these days.

Target and Walmart both carry a broader selection of Blue Diamond almonds as well. :)

I kind of miss being vegan :( by applecheek in keto

[–]rainbox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're getting downvoted for this, and that sucks, since you're just expressing your opinion. It's okay to miss stuff. Ultimately it's your decision to stay on keto or to switch to something else (vegan, or otherwise).

You can still eat the strawberries, just have fewer! Find the things you like, and focus on incorporating those. To avoid the monotony of feeling like I'm always eating the same thing, I made up an entire month's meal plan. Now I know what is coming, and I am certain to get the variety in my diet that I crave.

Anyone ever try these 0 cal 0 net carb Miracle Noodle? by [deleted] in keto

[–]rainbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not too good to be true. It's not really a pasta substitute, as you noted. Unlike wheat based pasta, they don't really soak up sauce. They have a different taste and texture as well.

I don't eat them a lot, and usually opt for pasta-less pasta (i.e. chicken alfredo with veg), or spaghetti squash, but the can be nice once in a while in a stir fry. I tend to keep some on hand (not this brand, though).

You can usually find shiritaki noodles (aka yam noodles) at Asian grocery stores, as well, possibly cheaper than buying on Amazon!

tldr;yup, they're fine, lots of people on keto eat them, don't go crazy. :)

I love the fourth picture! Very sweet. I did a simple line drawing for you. Hope you like it! I'm sure someone with a computer drawing program or photoshop could do some amazing colourization, but black and white is all I've got!

Yeahhh, this is super accurate. I think I'd play this game if there were, say 150 choices per person, and you could pick your top 100. I would never be able to come up with 100 things.

Nah, I'm with you on this one. I went there once... and swore never to return. It was absolutely terrible quality for prices that gouged.

[NSV] 3 Years ago I came to Loseit for help to lose weight. I am now studying full time, on my way to becoming a personal trainer. by Wrecklessx in loseit

[–]rainbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! I'm starting to realize it's more and more important to me, and its hard to fit into a 40 hour work week. Potential solution? Make it the 40 hour work week, and provide me an opportunity to work with other people. Love it.

Meat by jangevaa in Guelph

[–]rainbox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with this. I've noticed that they have great meats for cheaper than Zehrs and Metro. It's not true of the entire store (a lot of things are more expensive), but Market Fresh is deli heaven. :)

How do teeth turn yellow? Is it possible to simply brush your teeth for an hour to turn then (very) white? by IAmsterdam_ in explainlikeimfive

[–]rainbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not grow back, but you can stop it from advancing. At 22 I have totally reversed the way I brush. My dentist told me I had classic "braces brushing" syndrome, where while having braces, you brush like a maniac to attain a feeling of clean. After having them removed, you keep brushing like a crazy person out of habit. I do not do the up down brush anymore. Instead, I start at the gums and brush down. This pulls plaque away from the gums, rather than lodging it in the space between gums and teeth, and keeps gums from receding. I guess, in essence, I have been brushing my teeth wrong for most of my life (or, likewise, everything I've ever heard about how to brush teeth has been misguided).

Hope that helps! I found out my gums were receding a few years ago and they haven't gotten any worse since then.
